Lore

Argus the Unmaker is the final boss of Antorus, the Burning Throne, and the World of Warcraft: Legion expansion.

Bound. Broken. Eons of existence, knowing only pain. A shattered soul, fueling infinite evil. The master beckons. Rise... Rise! Begin, the end of all things.

Outline

Argus the Unmaker is a four phase encounter that is straightforward but very intricate. Many of the mechanics are very bright and telegraphed, but result in instant death if misplayed, evoking a "shock and awe" style of fight. Each phase has a very distinct flavour and tests different aspects of raid cohesion and coordination.

TL;DR

4.1.

Tanks

  • Perform a taunt swap at 3-4 stacks of Sweeping Scythe Icon Sweeping Scythe.
  • Use the Avatar of Aggramar Icon Avatar of Aggramar buff to absorb the afflicted player's Soulbomb Detonation Icon Soulbomb Detonations in Phase Two.
  • Tank Constellar Designates that become equipped with the Sword of the Cosmos Icon Sword of the Cosmos and the Blades of the Eternal Icon Blades of the Eternal.
  • Kill yourself and revive using the Gift of the Lifebinder when Deadly Scythe Icon Deadly Scythe is no longer tankable.
4.2.

Healers

  • Be ready with burst healing, such as Cloudburst Totem Icon Cloudburst Totem, when Soulburst Icon Soulburst and Soulbomb Icon Soulbomb are detonating.
  • Keep a careful eye on the Tanks at high stacks of Sweeping Scythe Icon Sweeping Scythe and Deadly Scythe Icon Deadly Scythe.
  • Be reactive with cooldowns, as there are constantly large bursts of raid damage throughout the encounter.
4.3.

DPS

  • Correctly place the Gift of the Sea Icon Gift of the Sea and the Gift of the Sky Icon Gift of the Sky in order for your raid to take advantage of the buffs.
  • Save cooldowns for Constellar Designates and always try to hit the one weakest to your school of damage.
4.4.

Everyone

  • Avoid being hit by Cone of Death Icon Cone of Death and the follow up Death Fog Icon Death Fog that spawns.
  • Take Soulblight Icon Soulblight debuffs behind the raid to drop off the Death Fog Icon Death Fog when it expires.
  • Take Soulbomb Icon Soulbomb to the entrance area for one of the Tanks to soak and get Soulburst Icon Soulbursts away from the group.
  • Avoid being hit by Edge of Obliteration Icon Edge of Obliteration and Cosmic Ray Icon Cosmic Ray whenever possible.
  • Try to hit the target that is weak to your main damage school in Phase Three (applied by The Discs of Norgannon Icon The Discs of Norgannon).
  • Interrupt End of All Things Icon End of All Things.
  • Collect Motes of Titanic Power in the Spirit World and avoid the Hungering Souls.
  • Kill Reorigination Modules and avoid being hit by the Reorigination Pulse Icon Reorigination Pulse as they die.
4.5.

Positioning

  • Keep Argus in the center of the room in Phase One. The Ranged DPS and Healers should stack a few yards behind the Melee DPS.
  • In Phase Two, take Argus to the throne area. The Ranged DPS and Healers should also move to the back of the room, 15-20 yards from Argus himself.
  • Soulburst Icon Soulbursts should go to the sides of the room, away from the group, while Soulbomb Icon Soulbomb and the Avatar of Aggramar Icon Avatar of Aggramar go to the entrance area.
  • Spread out in Phase Three. Tanks should keep the Constellars that are attacking with melee away from their peers.
  • Resume Phase Two positioning in Phase Four.
5.

Bloodlust/Heroism/Time Warp

For first kills, especially if you are progressing on the content, we recommend you use Bloodlust Icon Bloodlust/Heroism Icon Heroism/Time Warp Icon Time Warp on the opener, and again when it comes off of cooldown in the final phase.

If you have strong enough damage to only get a single cast of Bloodlust/Heroism, it is instead advised you use it in the final phase when as many players as possible are alive and the raid is Titanforged Icon Titanforged.
