Choosing your gear carefully is important for your Shadow Priest in PvP. We give you a stat priority to help you choose items with the right stats, followed by advice on how to choose the rest of your gear and your trinkets.

This page is part of our Shadow Priest PvP Guide.

Stat Priority for Shadow Priests in PvP

The stat priority for Shadow Priests in PvP is as follows:

  1. Intellect;
  2. Versatility;
  3. Haste;
  4. Critical Strike;
  5. Mastery.

Intellect is the best stat in all situations. Versatility is the strongest secondary stat at all times because it increases your overall damage dealt and reduces damage you take. Haste is your next best secondary stat. This will help with reducing the Global Cooldown on abilities and increasing the tick rate of your DoTs.

General Guidelines

In general, Shadow Priests do not have a specific cooldown that you need trinkets to line up with. As a result, your trinkets can have a passive or on-use effect. The stat you want to be increasing is Intellect. You want to increase Intellect because it drastically increases your overall damage output. Here is the best gear we recommend you using as a Shadow Priest.

  • Head: Mask of the Furnace Seraph Icon Mask of the Furnace Seraph
  • Neck: Draconic Gladiator's Necklace Icon Draconic Gladiator's Necklace

Shadow Priest Tier Set

As noted above, acquiring both your 2-set and 4-set bonus is crucial. It is also important to note that ALL tier sets are nerfed by 50% in PvP. Although this nerf is significant, tier sets are still important to acquire to maximize your chances of winning. For Shadow Priest, this is your tier set:

  • 2-set: Increases the chance for Shadowy Insight to trigger by 25%. When consuming Shadowy Insight, Mind Blast Icon Mind Blast deals 30% increased damage and generates 4 additional Insanity.
  • 4-set: Devouring Plague Icon Devouring Plague damage increased by 15%. Every 4 casts of Devouring Plague increases the damage of Shadowy Apparitions conjured within the next 10 sec by 80%.

Shadow Priest Embellishments

Embelishments are bonuses that can be put on crafted gear. These affects can have a drastic impact on the game. You are only allowed to have 2 Embellishments equipped at the same time. Here are the recommended Embellishments for Shadow Priest:

  • Statuette of Foreseen Power Icon Statuette of Foreseen Power. This embellishment makes it so when an interrupt is used on you while you are not casting, you gain haste and are immune to all crowd control for 4 seconds. Ideally, this is crafted on your feet.
  • Infurious Legwraps of Possibility Icon Infurious Legwraps of Possibility have an Embellishment on them that makes it so after you are crowd-controlled, you get a Haste buff. This has an internal cooldown of 30 seconds. This is great because you will often be the target of choice for most teams and this buff will have high uptime throughout an arena game.
