Garrison: Leveling Enchanting In Warlords of Draenor (WoD 6.1.2)
Table of Contents
Why Level up Enchanting to 700?
All of the Draenor-specific Enchanting recipes can be crafted with a skill of 1. So, reaching the maximum skill in Warlords of Draenor is not as important as it was in previous expansions. The only perk you get from leveling Enchanting is that the yield of Temporal Crystal slowly increases from 5 Fractured Temporal Crystals at Level 600 to a full Temporal Crystal (equivalent to 10 Fractured Temporal Crystals) at Level 700, meaning that you can make more high-end enchants.
Learning Draenor Enchanting
Leveling Enchanting in Draenor requires you to first acquire Draenor Enchanting, which teaches you how to craft Temporal Crystal, Secrets of Draenor Enchanting, and other Draenor recipes that you can use from Level 1.
You can acquire Draenor Enchanting from the Enchanting Recipes vendor in Ashran, from the Enchanter at the Enchanter's Study in your Garrison, or at the end of the quest line that allows you to unlock the Enchanter's Study before upgrading your Town Hall to Level 2.
Leveling Enchanting from 600 to 700
It should be noted that Enchanting is the only profession that can obtain its Draenor-specific reagent through other means than crafting and Work Orders. Indeed, Temporal Crystals can be obtained by disenchanting Level 100 epic Draenor gear (epic upgrades below Level 100 do not give Temporal Crystals). Also, it is not BoP, so you can sell it and buy it on the Auction House.
Leveling Enchanting from 600 to 630
The first step is to level up Enchanting from 600 to 630 by crafting:
- Neck Enchants:
- Breath of Critical Strike;
- Breath of Haste;
- Breath of Mastery;
- Breath of Multistrike;
- Breath of Versatility;
- Cloak Enchants:
- Breath of Critical Strike;
- Breath of Haste;
- Breath of Mastery;
- Breath of Multistrike;
- Breath of Versatility;
- Ring Enchants (preferred):
- Breath of Critical Strike;
- Breath of Haste;
- Breath of Mastery;
- Breath of Multistrike;
- Breath of Versatility.
All of these recipes cost 1x Luminous Shard (obtained from disenchanting rare-quality items) and give a +1 skill up. The Ring enchants are automatically learned when you unlock the Enchanter's Study (so you will prefer using them), while the Cloak and Neck enchants cost 1x Secret of Draenor Enchanting. They turn yellow at 625, green at 627, and gray at 630. It takes 37 attempts, in average, to reach Level 630 with these recipes. It takes one less attempt for each time you craft Temporal Crystal or Secrets of Draenor Enchanting.
To maximize your leveling speed, you should plan your first day in Draenor (as far as Enchanting is concerned) as follows. Start by crafting the Ring enchants and, when you reach 630, craft Secrets of Draenor Enchanting Temporal Crystal.
Leveling Enchanting from 630 to 700
From Level 630 to 700, you will craft:
- Neck Enchants:
- Gift of Critical Strike;
- Gift of Haste;
- Gift of Mastery;
- Gift of Multistrike;
- Gift of Versatility;
- Cloak Enchants:
- Gift of Critical Strike;
- Gift of Haste;
- Gift of Mastery;
- Gift of Multistrike;
- Gift of Versatility;
- Ring Enchants:
- Gift of Critical Strike;
- Gift of Haste;
- Gift of Mastery;
- Gift of Multistrike;
- Gift of Versatility;
- Weapon Enchants:
- Mark of the Thunderlord;
- Mark of Warsong;
- Mark of the Frostwolf;
- Mark of Shadowmoon;
- Mark of Blackrock;
- Mark of Bleeding Hollow.
All of these recipes give you the same amount of skill up per Temporal Crystal spent. Neck, Cloak, and Ring enchants cost 4x Temporal Crystals and 4x Sorcerous Elementals (either Earth, Air, Fire, or Water) and give a +4 skill up. Weapon enchants cost 15x Temporal Crystals and 10x Sorcerous Elementals and give a +15 skill up. As you can see, the Sorcerous Elemental cost is lower for Weapon enchants, so it may be a good idea to focus on these, but you will need to start with Neck, Clock, or Ring enchants. Indeed, the recipes for these enchants only cost 1x Secret of Draenor Enchanting, while the recipes for the Weapon enchants cost 5. So, you will need to wait for a few days before you can make Weapon enchants.
Duration
Leveling to 700 is going to take about a month, because you are required to use Temporal Crystals, which you can make in limited quantities every day. If you buy Temporal Crystals off of the auction house, it will take a lot less time.
Temporal Crystals and Secrets of Draenor Enchanting
Temporal Crystal and Secrets of Draenor Enchanting have a daily cooldown, which resets at the same time the daily quests do. You need to craft these two recipes every day, to maximize the speed at which you level up Enchanting. Each of these recipes grants you a +1 skill up.
It is also important to place 6 Work Orders a day at your Enchanter's Study, otherwise, leveling up Enchanting is going to take a lot longer than the month we announced.
Leveling Enchanting from 1 to 600
You can craft any of the Warlords of Draenor recipes from Level 1. We advise you to level up on Luminous Shard and Breath enchants, because they do not require Temporal Crystals. This way, you will be able to save your Temporal Crystals for the later leveling phase, when you really need them. That said, if you need a few enchants for your character or some of your alts, you can perfectly make them.
When leveling up, you will not be able to disenchant BoE gear for Draenic Dust, Luminous Shard, or Temporal Crystals. This means that you will rely on disenchanting your BoP gear and buying reagents on the Auction House.
When comparing Auction House prices between Draenic Dust and Luminous Shard (or Small Luminous Shard), you need to take into account the fact that 20x Draenic Dust give you a +1 skill up twice. Once when you use Luminous Shard to transform them into a Luminous Shard and once when you use that Luminous Shard to make an enchant. So, the reagent you should buy is:
- Draenic Dust, if 10x Draenic Dust is cheaper than 1x Luminous Shards and cheaper than 10x Small Luminous Shards;
- Small Luminous Shards, if 10x Small Luminous Shards is cheaper than 1x Luminous Shard;
- Luminous Shards, otherwise.
Catch-up Items
There are 4 items that you can randomly loot from mobs in Draenor and that increase your Enchanting skill by 5. Technically speaking, you need to combine these items with Draenor materials to create a new item and increase your Enchanting skill by 5 in the process.
- Ritual Mask Shards must be combined with 3x Draenic Dust.
- Torn Voodoo Doll must be combined with 10x Draenic Dust.
- Cracked Wand must be combined with 5x Draenic Dust.
- Gnarled, Splintering Staff must be combined with 5x True Iron Ore.
- Felled Totem must be combined with 4x True Iron Ore.
