Choosing your gear carefully is important for your Destruction Warlock in PvP. We give you a stat priority to help you choose items with the right stats, followed by advice on how to choose the rest of your gear and your trinkets.
Stat Priority for Destruction Warlock in PvP
The stat priority for Destruction Warlock in PvP is as follows:
Intellect is the best stat in all situations. Haste is your best secondary
stat to have, as it reduces the Global Cooldown on abilities, reduces your cast
time, and causes
Conflagrate to recharge faster. This will help you
cast your
Chaos Bolt and
Fear at a faster rate. Versatility is
your second-best stat to have as it increases your damage done as well as making
you take less damage, making you more durable.
Gear Recommendations
In general, Destruction Warlocks want to get gear that gives both Versatility and Haste, with a priority on Haste. Most PvP pieces from Honor and Conquest come with Versatility and Haste, so these are generally the best items to go for.
You want to use PvP items as much as possible since they have increased item level in PvP combat. It is essential to be wearing 2 PvP trinkets. This will give you a Stamina and main-stat boost that will increase your survivability.
Note: Every tier piece listed below should be Catalyzed from a base Conquest item that has Haste and Versatility on it.
FAQWhich Tier Pieces Are Best To Catalyze?
With the new Catalyst system in 12.1, the secondary stats of the base item carry over to the Catalyzed tier piece. Because of this, you want to Catalyze base Conquest items that already have Haste and Versatility on them. The recommended items are as follow:
- Helm:
Venomous Gladiator's Silk Guise with Haste & Versatility - Shoulders:
Venomous Gladiator's Silk Mantle with Haste & Versatility - Chest:
Venomous Gladiator's Silk Raiment with Haste & Versatility - Hands:
Venomous Gladiator's Silk Gloves with Haste & Versatility - Legs:
Venomous Gladiator's Silk Leggings with Haste & Versatility

Destruction Warlock Tier Sets
It is important to note that ALL tier sets are nerfed to 33% effectiveness in PvP. Although this nerf is significant, some tier sets are still important to acquire to maximize your chances to win. For Destruction Warlocks, your tier set is Damned Necrolyte's Shattered Restraints:
- 2-set:
Incinerate damage increased by 25%, and
Incinerate
has a 10% increased chance to evoke an
Echo of Sargeras. - 4-set: Targets damaged by
Echo of Sargeras take 6% increased damage
from your spells and abilities for 6 seconds.
Recommended Trinkets
Note: It is important to be wearing two PvP trinkets. This will give you a Intellect boost that will increase your damage and Stamina.
Venomous Gladiator's Medallion is a mandatory trinket to have equipped
at all times. This allows you to remove any crowd control on yourself. You
will normally use this when you are stuck in crowd control, and a teammate is at
low health.
Venomous Gladiator's Insignia of Alacrity is the best offensive trinket to wear.
This gives you an Intellect proc, which will boost your damage.
Destruction Warlock Embellishments
Embellishments are bonuses that can be put on crafted gear. These effects can have a drastic impact on the game. You are only allowed to have two Embellishments equipped at the same time, so these go on your crafted bracers and boots:
Arcanoweave Lining. This Embellishment gives your spells and
abilities a chance to summon a Mana Wyrm that grants Arcanoweave Insight to
you and a nearby ally, increasing the primary stat of both players. Overall,
this will give you and your team the highest damage output.
Gems and Enchants
Here are the best enchants for a Destruction Warlock:
- Helm:
Enchant Helm - Empowered Blessing of Speed - Shoulders:
Enchant Shoulders - Akil'zon's Swiftness - Chest:
Enchant Chest - Mark of the Worldsoul - Legs:
Sunfire Silk Spellthread - Feet:
Enchant Boots - Farstrider's Hunt - Rings:
Enchant Ring - Silvermoon's Tenacity - Weapon:
Enchant Weapon - Acuity of the Ren'dorei
You can use one Heliotrope gem in Midnight, and for Destruction
Warlocks that should be
Cognitive Heliotrope to gain access to
Precognition. Fill your remaining sockets with
Flawless Quick Lapis.
