Regular Talents for Destruction Warlocks
Tier 1 (Level 15) Talents
Tier 2 (Level 30) Talents
Reverse Entropy is one of the choices in this tier. This is just a passive talent that gives your abilities a chance to give you Haste. This is great for faster Chaos Bolts and faster Conflagrate recharges.
Shadowburn is an alternative choice that can be picked against teams with multiple interrupts where the Haste from Reverse Entropy may not be enough to help you cast Chaos Bolt. This ability is similar to Conflagrate and deals instant damage, with an execute-like component to it.
Tier 3 (Level 45) Talents
Dark Pact is the best choice in this tier. This defensive talent allows you to sacrifice a portion of your health for a massive absorb. This is essential to help you survive setups and burst, especially as it is on a short, 1-minute cooldown.
Tier 4 (Level 60) Talents
Cataclysm is the best choice in this tier. This is a strong ability that will help you spread Immolate without have to cast it multiple times. Cataclysm can be used on teams that are trying to line of sight your damage. More importantly, you can use it to prevent Rogues and Druids from using Stealth.
Tier 5 (Level 75) Talents
Mortal Coil is the best choice in this tier. This gives you extra control over the enemy team with instant crowd control. Mortal Coil will be used in combination with Havoc to crowd control two enemies at once. This will also heal you, increasing your survivability.
Tier 6 (Level 90) Talents
Roaring Blaze is the best choice in this tier. This ability makes Conflagrate increase the damage your Fire spells do by 25% for the next 8 seconds. This talent makes Conflagrate a very powerful on-demand instant burst damage spell by chaining them.
Grimoire of Sacrifice is another viable option in this tier. This talent should mainly be used when the enemy team can easily kill your pet, such as if you are facing an Affliction Warlock. This talent allows you to sacrifice your pet to get its main ability. This should be used primarily on a Felhunter in order to gain Spell Lock.
Tier 7 (Level 100) Talents
Dark Soul: Instability is the best choice in this tier. This talent gives you an additional burst cooldown that will crush teams that stay in your line of sight. Use this ability when you are using your burst rotation.
PvP Talents for Destruction Warlocks
You can choose 3 of the following PvP talents. Each of them has their uses, but some are better for certain strategies than others. The top three choices are the most useful, but can be replaced with other PvP talents, depending on your team's goal.
Mandatory PvP Talents
Bonds of Fel allows you to cast in an area around an enemy. If the enemy walks out of this circle, they take damage divided by how many people are within that area of effect. This ability helps to lock enemies in your line-of-sight, allowing you to cast Chaos Bolt or causing them to line-of-sight and take damage from Bonds of Fel.
Situational PvP Talents
Nether Ward surrounds the caster with a shield that last 3 sec, reflecting all harmful spells cast on you. This is a crucial talent to take against all casters. You also want to use this talent versus teams with a Shaman or Death Knight. This is because their kicks are magical and this will prevent you from being interrupted while it is active.
Shadow Rift allows you to cast an area-of-effect around the enemy, as long as you are in your Demonic Circle: Teleport range. After 2 seconds, any enemies inside this circle will be teleported to your Demonic Circle: Teleport. This ability has many creative uses, and can be used to prevent enemy teams from hiding behind a pillar or to teleport melee away from you.
Demon Armor increases your health and armor by a significant amount. This is a crucial PvP talent when playing against teams with two melee on it because you will likely be the main target for them.
Fel Fissure creates a 5-yard wide eruption of Felfire under the target, reducing movement speed by 50% and reducing all healing received by 25% on all enemies within the fissure. Lasts 6 seconds. This PvP talent is powerful when playing with a teammate that has a stun for your kill target. This will also help you punish players that are out of position or do not notice the Fel Fissure animation.
