Optional Crafting Reagents Guide (9.2.5)

With Optional Reagents, you will increase the Item Level of the crafted item, while also increasing the level required to equip the item. This is especially useful while leveling up or gearing alts.

You will be able to specify which two of the four secondary stats you want the item to give bonuses to, allowing you to customize your character's power. However, you cannot choose to boost the same secondary stat more than once.

Some recipes also come with bonus effects that provide utility.

All crafting Professions have access to creating Optional Reagents, and Optional Reagents will only apply to armor and weapon recipes at the start of Shadowlands.

Vestige of the Devourers is available at Honored with The Enlightened for 5,100 Gold. Crafting professions capable of creating Base Items can use the Optional Reagent to increase the Item Level of a Base Item from Rank 1 to Rank 5 (item Level 249). It cannot be used to create higher Rank Legendaries.

New in Patch 9.2 is the Vestige of the Eternal. This item is used to upgrade Base Items to Rank 7. in Eternity's End.

New in Patch 9.1 is Vestige of Origins. The item allows you to upgrade Base Items to Rank 6.

Up to 3 Optional Reagents slots are available for each crafted piece of armor. You can fill none, some, or all Optional Reagent slots when you craft an item.

The first slot allows you to specify the first Secondary Stat on your crafted piece of gear.

You can choose between Haste, Critical Strike, Mastery, and Versatility.

• Missive of Haste — Ensures that the crafted weapon or piece of armor will increase the wearer's Haste.
• Missive of Critical Strike — Ensures that the crafted weapon or piece of armor will increase the wearer's Critical Strike.
• Missive of Mastery — Ensures that the crafted weapon or piece of armor will increase the wearer's Mastery.
• Missive of Versatility — Ensures that crafted weapon or piece of armor will increase the wearer's Versatility.

The very same items are also required when you choose your desired stats while crafting Legendary Armor in Shadowlands.

The second slot allows you to specify the second Secondary Stat on your crafted piece of gear.

You can again pick between Haste, Critical Strike, Mastery, and Versatility, but you will not be able to choose the same Secondary Stat you picked for the first slot.

You will need the same items as outlined above to choose your desired Secondary Stat.

• Missive of Haste — Ensures that the crafted weapon or piece of armor will increase the wearer's Haste.
• Missive of Critical Strike — Ensures that the crafted weapon or piece of armor will increase the wearer's Critical Strike.
• Missive of Mastery — Ensures that the crafted weapon or piece of armor will increase the wearer's Mastery.
• Missive of Versatility — Ensures that crafted weapon or piece of armor will increase the wearer's Versatility.

The final and third slot allows you to increase or decrease the item level of crafted gear in Shadowlands.

The following Optional Reagents are required to increase the Item Level and set the Required Level to 50, 55, and 60. The reduced level requirement allows you to wear crafted gear on alts during leveling.

• Novice Crafter's Mark — Set the Item Level to 87 and the Required Level to 50.
• Crafter's Mark I — Set the Item Level to 117 and the Required Level to 55.
• Crafter's Mark II — Set the Item Level to 168 and the Required Level to 60.
• Crafter's Mark III — Set the Item Level to 200 and the Required Level to 60.
• Crafter's Mark IV — Set the Item Level to 233 and the Required Level to 60.
• Crafter's Mark of the Chained Isle — Set the Item Level to 230, the Required Level to 60, and add Unique Equipped: Shadowlands Crafted.
• Crafter's Mark of the First Ones — Set the Item Level to 262, the Required Level to 60 and add Unique Equipped: Shadowlands Crafted.

the following Optional Reagents are used on items from previous expansions:

• Relic of the Past I — Set the Item Level to 19 and the Required Level to 14.
• Relic of the Past II — Set the Item Level to 28 and the Required Level to 23.
• Relic of the Past III — Set the Item Level to 39 and the Required Level to 32.
• Relic of the Past IV — Set the Item Level to 48 and the Required Level to 41.
• Relic of the Past V — Set the Item Level to 54 and the Required Level to 47.

Certain recipes will allow for bonus effects, such as increasing your flask or food buff durations.

• Alchemist's Pouch (Alchemy) — Increases the duration of Flask effects.
• Infusion: Corpse Purification (Alchemy) — Chance to acquire additional resources from corpses.
• Sustaining Armor Polish (Alchemy) — Increases the duration of flasks, elixirs, and food buffs.
• Elethium Setting (Blacksmithing) — An Optional Crafting Reagent that, when crafted into armor, adds a socket.
• Reinforced Girdle (Blacksmithing) — Allows the wearer to retain their Well Fed buff when slain in an Arena or Battleground.
• Cosmic Protoweave (Enchanting) — Increases Avoidance and sometimes heals when taking damage.
• Magically Regulated Automa Core (Enchanting) — Chance to spawn an Automa Core which explodes for damage and healing.
• Erratic Genesis Matrix (Engineering) — Being struck by an enemy builds electrical sparks. At 5 stacks, the circuitry shorts and lashes out.
• Hydrodynamic Accelerators (Engineering) — Increases the wearer's swim speed.
• Necrostatic Micro Capacitor (Engineering) — Increases the wearer's Primary Stat for completing World Quests.
• Pure-Air Sail Extensions (Engineering) — Increases Movement Speed and ground mount speed while in the Shadowlands.
• Aealic Harmonizing Stone (Jewelcrafting) — Chance to harmonize sound, granting Primary Stat when acquired.
• Devourer Essence Stone (Jewelcrafting) — Slaying enemies increases your highest Secondary Stat for a brief moment, stacking up to 5 times.
• Loosened Belt (Leatherworking) — Increases the duration of Well Fed effects.
• Shadowy Rabbit's Foot (World Drop) — Slightly increases the wearer's run speed.
• Luxurious Feather — Greatly reduces the damage the wearer takes from falling.
