Guide to Leveling Skinning and Making Gold in Shadowlands
This page covers everything you need to know about leveling Skinning in the Shadowlands expansion from 1-150, as well as how to make gold with the profession.
Leveling Skinning from 1-150 in Shadowlands
As with all gathering professions, leveling Skinning is very simple, and with this profession, it is by far the easiest of the gathering professions to level, since you do not need to actively hunt routes for nodes. Instead, you can simply find a spot with good respawn rates of skinnable mobs and farm them.
New Leather Types in Shadowlands
There are currently 5 new leather types being introduced in Shadowlands, with none of them having any restrictions on the zone they are found in. Technically, you can farm everything in exactly the same spots.
Farming Spots for Shadowlands Leather
There are 2 main spots that you can farm in the Shadowlands, both of which are currently extremely easy to farm and that grant an extremely high rate of leather.
Bastion Leather Farming
The first area is Kala's Den, where players will complete the side-quest chain
to help Zosime, starting with Disturbing the Peace.
Head to the den and you will find a number of beasts inside, as well as in the surrounding area, that you can kill and skin. Make sure to kill everything you see, as this can help to keep mobs spawning at a faster rate.
Maldraxxus Leather Farming
The second location is found just to the south-east of the Theater of Pain area.
Here, you can kill the scarabs, which have a solid respawn rate and moderate mob density.
Making Gold with Skinning in Shadowlands
Making gold with Skinning is an extremely straightforward task as, honestly, there is nothing that a skinner can do except sell the leather they find (without another profession combination).
The only thing that you should be wary of is to never sell your leather in trade chat. Most of the time, these buyers are offering prices lower than the Auction House in an attempt to make gold themselves.
The only time when you should sell to them is if you check the Auction House and see that the prices there, when accounting for a 5% cut in your income, would be lower than that of the trade chat buyers. This is very unlikely, but possible.
