Subtlety Rogue PvP Useful Macros (Season 4)

Macros are crucial to be successful in PvP. They allow players to use abilities on enemies without having to target them. This helps increase overall damage/healing and general awareness in the arena. Here are a few macros that all Subtlety Rogues can benefit from.

This page is part of our Subtlety Rogue PvP Guide.

1.

Generalities

Macros allow you to perform actions that are more complex than simply clicking your spell while targeting the enemy. They can be used for a wide variety of things, such as using several spells together with the press of one button, using abilities on specific targets without having to actually target them, and so on. As Rogue, it is essential to use a few macros in order to gain efficiency. The class has a lot of crowd control options available , and you don't want to constantly switch targets as it could lead to mistakes, makes you slower, and hurts your damage on your main target. Macros are the solution to this, as they allow you to use your CC abilities on someone you are not targeting without dropping your target!

The examples below are all with your Focus Target. You can replace focus by arena1, arena2, or arena3 to have an easier time landing CC on arena targets. It is not recommended to start from close to zero macros and attempt to create macros for everything instantly, as you may be overwhelmed. Instead, process slowly, starting only with the focus target and the most crucial spells, and create more macros as you get comfortable with the ones you have.

2.

Shadowstep + Kick Focus Macro

  • #showtooltip
  • /cast [target=focus] Shadowstep
  • /cast [target=focus] Kick

Using this macro will use Shadowstep Icon Shadowstep on your focus target. If you press this macro again, it will use Kick Icon Kick on your focus target. This makes it easier to interrupt an enemy while keeping your current target.

3.

Kick Focus Macro

  • #showtooltip Kick
  • /cast [target=focus] Kick

Put an enemy on focus, and this macro will use Kick Icon Kick on that player while keeping your current target. You will use this when your focus target is in melee as you do not need Shadowstep Icon Shadowstep.

4.

Blind Focus Macro

  • #showtooltip Blind
  • /cast [target=focus] Blind

Put an enemy on focus, and this macro will use Blind Icon Blind on that player while keeping your current target.

5.

Kidney Focus Macro

  • #showtooltip Kidney Shot
  • /cast [target=focus] Kidney Shot

Put an enemy on focus, and this macro will use Kidney Shot Icon Kidney Shot on that player while keeping your current target.

6.

Sap Focus Macro

  • #showtooltip Sap
  • /cast [target=focus] Sap

Put an enemy on focus, and this macro will use Sap Icon Sap on that player while keeping your current target.

7.

Gouge Focus Macro

  • #showtooltip Gouge
  • /cast [target=focus] Gouge

Put an enemy on focus, and this macro will use Gouge Icon Gouge on that player while keeping your current target.

8.

Cheap Shot Focus Macro

  • #showtooltip Cheap Shot
  • /cast [target=focus] Cheap Shot

Put an enemy on focus, and this macro will use Cheap Shot Icon Cheap Shot on that player while keeping your current target.

9.

Dismantle Focus Macro

  • #showtooltip Dismantle
  • /cast [target=focus] Dismantle

Put an enemy on focus, and this macro will use Dismantle Icon Dismantle on that player while keeping your current target.

10.

Stealth Macro

  • #showtooltip Stealth
  • /cast !Stealth

This makes it so when you use Stealth Icon Stealth, it will not cancel if you click it a second time.

11.

Sap Stealthed Enemies Macro

  • #showtooltip Sap
  • /cleartarget
  • /targetenemyplayer
  • /cast [stance:1/3, harm, nodead] Sap

This macro will drop your current target and try to target an enemy player to use Sap Icon Sap on. If you walk near a Steathed enemy, such as another Rogue , and see him as you were spamming this macro, then you will Sap him.
