General Information

On this page, we explain what the best statistics are for Subtlety Rogues in World of Warcraft Legion 7.2.5, how the class benefits from each of them.

The statistics priority is important as it influences itemisation choices (gear, enchants, and gems).

The other pages of our Subtlety Rogue guide can be accessed from the table of contents on the right.

About Our Author and Reviewer

This guide has been written by Furty, who has an illustrious history in the World of Warcraft raiding scene and race for World First. He has been a member of guilds such as Serenity, Midwinter, and many more, and is currently raiding in Future. He plays most classes at the highest level. You can follow him on Twitter and watch him play on Twitch.

This guide has been reviewed and approved by Aethys, a rising Rogue theorycrafter and the founder of SimCMinMax, a community of theorycrafters and developers who make tools around simulationcraft. He is also the author of the AethysRotation addon, a rotation helper optimized for Rogues.

1. Basics

The stat priority for a Subtlety Rogue is:

  1. Agility;
  2. Mastery;
  3. Versatility;
  4. Critical Strike;
  5. Haste.

This stat priority assumes that all stats are found in equal measure. Because of the lack of Versatility on gear, people with very little of it will generally find it to be their most valued stat (but its value quickly dropped as you get more of it).

1.1. Stat Weights

These values are calculated for a single target.

  1. Agility: 1.00
  2. Mastery: 0.90
  3. Versatility: 0.81
  4. Critical Strike: 0.75
  5. Haste: 0.71

These statistics have been obtained by combining common sense, in-game testing, and simulations using Simulation Craft.

You can also use Shadowcraft, an online tool dedicated to Rogues, where you can optimise your gear, gems, reforging options, enchants, talents, glyphs, and rotation.

2. Getting a Better Understanding

Agility is your primary statistic. You should look for it in all of your upgrades. It provides you with Attack Power, which determines the damage your abilities do.

Mastery increases the damage of your finishers through Mastery: Executioner Icon Mastery: Executioner.

Critical Strike increases your chance to critically hit with all spells and abilities.

Versatility is a flat-out damage done increase and damage taken reduction.

Haste provides you with increased attack speed and Energy regeneration. This statistic helps you maintain your rotation.
