General Information

About Our Author

This guide has been written by Ashine, European Champion of the second Mythic Dungeon Invitational and a member of two top 60 guilds, Wiping as Intended and Group Therapy. He is regarded as one of the top Subtlety Rogues in the world and contributes a fair bit to the spec's theorycrafting. You can watch him play on Twitch.

1. The Basics of Stats for Subtlety Rogue

The stat priority for a Subtlety Rogue is:

  1. Critical Strike;
  2. Mastery;
  3. Haste;
  4. Versatility;

This stat priority assumes that all stats are found in equal measure. Keep in mind that the more you have of a stat, the less valuable it becomes.

In Battle for Azeroth, Haste is more valuable to us than it has been before. This is due to the increase of auto attack damage, in combination with the loss of a lot of Energy sources with the removal of Artifact weapons.

Simulationcraft might overvalue Haste a little bit depending on talents.

1.1. Stat Weights

These values are calculated for a single target.

  1. Agility 1;
  2. Critical Strike 0.96;
  3. Mastery 0.871;
  4. Haste 0.85;
  5. Versatility 0.80.

These statistics have been obtained by combining common sense, in-game testing, and simulations using SimulationCraft.

2. Subtlety Rogue: Getting a Better Understanding

Agility is your primary statistic. You should look for it in all of your upgrades. It provides you with Attack Power, which determines the damage your abilities do.

Mastery increases the damage of your finishers through Mastery: Executioner Icon Mastery: Executioner.

Critical Strike increases your chance to critically hit with all spells and abilities.

Versatility is a flat-out damage done increase and damage taken reduction.

Haste provides you with increased attack speed and Energy regeneration. This statistic helps you maintain your rotation.
