While the above table provides a generally accurate overview of the viability of talents, some finer points are discussed in the sections that follow, and we recommend you read those for a deeper understanding.
Tier 1 (Level 15) Talents
Chi Wave is the best choice in this tier. This talent is best
because it helps apply some damage and healing. This is works well with your
Mastery,
Mastery: Combo Strikes, to help prevent you from repeating
two of the same spell.
Tier 2 (Level 25) Talents
Tiger's Lust is the best choice in this tier. This is important to
have because it breaks all roots and snares and gives you a 70% movement speed
increase. This helps Monks or your teammates when they are being kited.
Tier 3 (Level 30) Talents
Ascension is the best choice in this tier. This increases your
maximum Chi, Energy and Energy regeneration. All of this results in more damage
output. This talent is also great for when you are in crowd control or cannot
reach an enemy. Your Energy will be regenerating quicker and you will have more
damage for when you reach your target.
Fist of the White Tiger is another
great option to use and instantly be able to press
Fists of Fury.
Tier 4 (Level 35) Talents
Ring of Peace is the best choice in this tier. This is a great
utility spell to have. You can use it to help your teammates that are stunned
or to interrupt crowd control. If you find yourself dying through
Touch of Karma often,
Good Karma is a good choice against mobile
targets you cannot kite.
Tier 5 (Level 40) Talents
Against teams with magical damage, Diffuse Magic is the best
choice in this tier. This gives you an additional defensive cooldown for when
the casters use their offensive cooldowns.
Against any other team, Dampen Harm is the best choice in this
tier. This is a solid defensive against classes with strong burst damage.
Tier 6 (Level 45) Talents
Dance of Chi-Ji is the best choice in this tier. This is just a great
way to increase your overall damage output.
Tier 7 (Level 50) Talents
Against teams without slows or roots, Whirling Dragon Punch is the
best choice in this tier. This gives your team strong single target and spread
pressure with a very short cooldown.
PvP Talents for Windwalker Monks
You can choose 3 of the following PvP talents. Each of them has their uses, but some are better for certain strategies than others. The top three choices are the most useful, but can be replaced with other PvP talents depending on your team's goal.
Mandatory PvP Talents
Reverse Harm makes
Expel Harm deal more damage and generate
Chi. This is crucial for increasing your survivability and making your rotation
feel much smoother. Reverse Harm will be used to help build up Chi if you have
previously used
Tiger Palm and heal you for a good amount when you are
being focused.
Alpha Tiger gives you 30% Haste when you use Tiger Palm on a new
player. This effect can only happen once every 30 seconds, but allows you to
swap to new targets when you get the buff. This, in combination with other burst
cooldowns, will give you a significant increase to your damage output.
Situational PvP Talents
Versus teams with melee on it, Turbo Fists is a mandatory PvP talent.
This not only increases the damage of your
Fists of Fury, but it slows
enemies hit by it and you Parry all attacks while it is channeling. This makes
it so you can use Fists of Fury aggressively for damage, but also use it
defensively to prevent some incoming damage and slow an entire team.
Ride the Wind causes
Flying Serpent Kick to form a path
of wind in its wake, increasing the movement speed of all allies who stand in
it by 25% and rendering them immune to slowing effects. This talent is crucial
if you think your healer will be the primary target for the enemy team. This
will help your entire team kite away from burst damage.
Grapple Weapon disarms your enemy. This is a great choice versus
teams with melee on it. This should also be taken versus Death Knights. The
reason for this is that they will not be able to heal while they are
disarmed.
Versus teams with a Warlock that you plan on targeting, Tigereye Brew is an
important talent to use. Because Tigereye Brew completely ignores the Warlock's Armor,
you will be doing full damage to the Warlock target.
