Discipline Priest PvP Stat Priority, Gear, and Trinkets — The War Within (11.2)
Choosing your gear carefully is important for your Discipline Priest in PvP. We give you a stat priority to help you choose items with the right stats, followed by advice on how to choose the rest of your gear and your trinkets.
This page is part of our Discipline Priest PvP Guide.
Stat Priority for Discipline Priests in PvP
The stat priority for Discipline Priests in PvP is as follows:
- Intellect;
- Versatility;
- Mastery;
- Haste;
- Critical Strike;
Intellect is the best stat in all situations. Versatility is the strongest
secondary stat at all times due to it increasing your damage and healing done
and reducing your damage taken. Mastery is a flat healing increase to every target with Atonement. Haste is also
an amazing stat as it reduces your global cooldown, increases your cast and channel speed, reduces the cooldown of important
spells such as
Power Word: Solace, and increases the tick rate of your DoT.

Discipline Priest Tier Sets
As noted above, acquiring both your 2-set and 4-set bonus is crucial. It is important to note that ALL tier sets are nerfed to 33% effectiveness in PvP. Although this nerf is significant, tier sets are still important to acquire to maximize your chances of winning. In Patch 11.2, there are different tier sets for each different hero talent for each specialization. Below are the different tier sets for Discipline Priest.
Oracle Tier Set
- 2-set: The first bolt of each
Penance cast damages or heals for 200% more
- 4-set: Casting
Premonition of Piety or
Premonition of Solace grants 2 stack of
Premonition of Insight at 100% effectiveness. Consuming a stack of
Premonition of Insight increases your Haste by 1.0% for 10 sec. Multiple applications may overlap.
Voidweaver Tier Set
- 2-set:
Void Blast and
Penance damage is increased by 30% and
Void Blast's cast time is reduced by 20%.
- 4-set:
Void Blast now also causes
Entropic Rift to grow,
Collapsing Void increases
Entropic Rift's damage by an additional 10%, and the damage of your next
Mind Blast is increased by up to 300% based on the size of
Entropic Rift when it collapses.
Although the increased damage from the Voidweaver tier set could be great for 2v2 arena, the overall best choice is the Oracle tier set and should be used in arena at all times.

Discipline Priest Embellishments
Embellishments are bonuses that can be put on crafted gear. These affects can have a drastic impact on the game. You are only allowed to have 2 Embellishments equipped at the same time. Here are the recommended Embellishments for Discipline Priest:
Energy Redistribution Beacon. While above 80% health, your direct healing will redistribute up to 2% of your health to your target. This is great for increasing your overall healing output. Because this affect does stack, it is recommended to use 2 of them.
Duskthread Lining. This Embellishment significantly increases your Versatility when you are above 80% health.
Gems and Enchants
Here are the best enchants and gems for a Discipline Priest:
- Cloak:
Enchant Cloak - Chant of Burrowing Rapidity
- Chest:
Enchant Chest - Council's Intellect
- Bracers:
Enchant Bracer - Chant of Armored Speed
- Legs:
Daybreak Spellthread
- Boots:
Enchant Boots - Scout's March
- Rings:
Enchant Ring - Cursed Mastery
- Weapon:
Enchant Weapon - Authority of Radiant Power
Versatile Onyx is the best gem you can use. You also get access to a single Meta Gem. You should use
Cognitive Bloodstone for the meta slot.
