Choosing your gear carefully is important for your Discipline Priest in PvP. We give you a stat priority to help you choose items with the right stats, followed by advice on how to choose the rest of your gear and your trinkets.

This page is part of our Discipline Priest PvP Guide.

1.

Stat Priority for Discipline Priests in PvP

The stat priority for Discipline Priests in PvP is as follows:

  1. Intellect;
  2. Versatility.
  3. Haste;
  4. Mastery;
  5. Critical Strike;

Intellect is the best stat in all situations. Versatility is the strongest secondary stat at all times, due to it increasing your damage and healing done and reducing your damage taken. Haste is also an amazing stat as it reduces your global cooldown, increases your cast and channel speed, reduces the cooldown of important spells such as Power Word: Solace Icon Power Word: Solace, and increases the tick rate of your DoT. Mastery is a flat healing increase to every target with Atonement Icon Atonement. You will need to invest in a bit of Mastery when playing 2v2 to increase your healing output, even if Haste and Versatility will be your primary focus.

Gear Recommendations

2.1.

General Guidelines

You want to use PvP items as much as possible since they have increased item level in PvP combat. Ideally you want Haste and Versatility on every item. The PvP vendor sells items with Haste and Versatility most slots, making it easy to stack these stats. In addition we have to equip 4 set pieces as well as two Legendary items. This is what your final gear should look like, including set pieces and Legendaries :

The chest piece from the set has the worst stat combination which is why you want to use the other four. Crafting Unity Icon Unity on the chest allows you to get the most stats out of it since the chest is a piece with a high stat budget, and a max iLvL Legendary item grants more stats than a fully-upgraded PvP item.

2.2.

Note: it is important to be wearing 2 PvP trinkets. This will increase your Intellect by 175 and your Stamina by 300, making you both more deadly and more resilient.

Eternal Gladiator's Medallion Icon Eternal Gladiator's Medallion is a mandatory trinket to have equipped at all times. This allows you to remove any crowd control on yourself. You will use this trinket if you are stunned and will die in this stun, or on any form of CC if one of your teammates will die and you can save them. Note, if you play a Human, Eternal Gladiator's Relentless Brooch Icon Eternal Gladiator's Relentless Brooch is often a better option as your Human racial, Will to Survive Icon Will to Survive, allows you to break free of stuns already, and this trinket will reduce the duration of all incoming CC by 20%.

Eternal Gladiator's Insignia of Alacrity Icon Eternal Gladiator's Insignia of Alacrity is a strong trinket if you want to increase your sustained damage and healing, and do not need a specific trinket for another purpose. It also carries a lot of Haste, which is a very desirable stat.

Eternal Gladiator's Emblem Icon Eternal Gladiator's Emblem increases your maximum health when used. This gives you an additional defensive when you are the target. The health increase is significant and will very often save your life, especially paired with Desperate Prayer Icon Desperate Prayer.

Eternal Gladiator's Resonator Icon Eternal Gladiator's Resonator allows you to drop a bomb on the ground that detonates after 4s, dealing high damage. Used in coordination with your team on your goes it can be lethal. Keep in mind that the damage is spread on all targets within the area of effect, so you need to have the main target stunned and isolated.

Eternal Gladiator's Eternal Aegis Icon Eternal Gladiator's Eternal Aegis grants you a large shield, absorbing magic damage. This can be a decent defensive option instead of the Emblem when facing comps such as Rogue Mage, with heavy magic burst damage.

2.3.

Gems and Enchants

Here are the best enchants for a Discipline Priest:

Your six gems should be Versatile Jewel Cluster Icon Versatile Jewel Cluster.

Note that regarding 2v2 you need a bit of Mastery to increase your healing output. You can play with six Masterful Jewel Cluster Icon Masterful Jewel Cluster and two Enchant Ring - Tenet of Mastery Icon Enchant Ring - Tenet of Mastery, and keep your gear as it is to get enough.
