Mistweaver Monk PvP Azerite Traits and Essences (BfA / Patch 8.2.5)
Azerite Traits and Essences, introduced in Battle for Azeroth, need to be chosen correctly, to ensure optimal performance. On this page, we explain how to pick your major and minor essences and which traits are best.
This page is part of our Mistweaver Monk PvP Guide.
Azerite Essences for Mistweaver Monks
Essences allow players to customize their characters while adding a new ability to use. This section will cover the best overall Azerite Essences for Mistweaver Monks in PvP.
For a general guide to all the essences, as well as how to obtain them and increase their ranks, check out our Essence guide.
Before reading this page, you should have a good understanding of the PvP playstyle of a Mistweaver Monk. So we advise you to read our dedicated page on the subject.
Memory of Lucid Dreams increases your Mana generation by 100% for 12 seconds. This is a powerful trait versus teams that do well in high-dampening. This should be used versus teams with Demon Hunters or two casters.
Conflict from Conflict and Strife grants us Way of the Crane as a baseline ability. Way of the Crane is a very powerful cooldown that helps heal through single target and spread damage. This is great versus teams that have long control chains or teams that might focus you.
In addition to having a Major Essence, you can choose two Minor Essences to place in your neck at Heart of Azeroth Levels 55 and 65.
Strife, from Conflict and Strife, grants a very powerful Versatility Minor Power. Not only do your spells have a chance to give you Versatility, but any loss of control to your character does too. This means that, if teams stun you and try to swap to you, you have additional Versatility and take less damage.
Lucid Dreams, from Memory of Lucid Dreams, gives your spells and abilities a chance to refund 50% of the Mana spent on them and heal you. This is great for staying at a healthy Mana level throughout a long match.
Strive for Perfection, from Vision of Perfection, reduces the cooldown of Revival dramatically. This should be taken versus teams with multiple Damage-over-Time (DoT) effects.
Azerite Traits for Mistweaver Monks
Azerite traits are unlocked in you helm, shoulders and chest. With each Azerite level in your neck, you get closer to unlocking the center trait in your gear. These traits vary from increasing damage or healing of certain abilities to helping increase your survivability. Depending on what traits you use, it can completely alter your playstyle and what talents you should be using.
For more information about Azerite traits and your Heart of Azeroth, please refer to our dedicated guide.
Below are the best Outer Ring traits.
The most important traits you want in your gear are Burst of Life and Secret Infusion. Burst of Life provides a strong heal after Life Cocoon expires. This will help with your burst and spread healing. Secret Infusion gives you a large stat increase, depending on which ability you use after using Thunder Focus Tea. This trait is very flexible and provides you with multiple options to help increase your healing output.
Below are the best Middle Ring traits.
The middle and inner rings are important for additional defensives. Mistweaver Monks are very weak when they are put into stuns. Traits like Blessed Portents, Azerite Veins, and Shimmering Haven help drastically. On My Way and Lifespeed both give you a small stat increase.
Below are the best Inner Ring traits.
All of these traits give you additional ways of surviving. These are all passive, but are crucial to have.
