Vengeance Demon Hunter Tank Best Gems, Enchants, and Consumables — Midnight (12.0.1)
On this page, we list the best gems, enchants, flasks, potions, and food you can get for your Vengeance Demon Hunter, based on your stat priority. We also give budget alternatives. This page is updated for World of Warcraft — Midnight (12.0.1).
Quality of Enchants, Gems, and Consumables in Midnight
In Midnight, consumables, gems,
and enchants all come in different qualities based on the skill of the
crafter making it. There are two ranks for most consumables, gems, and enchants, and
their power scales with their rank. For example
Potion of Recklessness will give more or fewer stats when used, depending on the
rank of the Potion. This means that you will
have to balance the level of your consumables against the
gold you are willing to invest, but also that there are cheaper alternatives to
every consumable.
Most enchants, gems, and consumables will simply give you more stats to empower your character, and you will therefore tend to choose those that give you stats that are better for your specific Specialization. For a more in-depth overview of stat priority, you can visit the stats page linked below.
Recommended Gems for Vengeance Demon Hunter in Midnight
Thalassian Diamond
Thalassian Diamonds are the most powerful gems available in Midnight, and
because of this you are limited to a single Diamond equipped at any one time.
There are several different Thalassian Diamonds but the one that stands out the
most is the raw stat version
Indecipherable Eversong Diamond. As long
as the price is manageable for you. There are other Thalassian Diamonds that trade
some Agility for a secondary effect, and if you do go for one of those you gain
more value depending on the amount of different colors you have on your other gems,
which means there might be a slight gain to use as many different colors as possible.
Other Gems
Since you can only have one Thalassian Diamond any other gems will have to
be other kinds. If you are running a Thalassian Diamond that benefits from having
multiple colors of gems equipped it can be worth running three or even four different
types of gems. If you are running
Indecipherable Eversong Diamond this does
not matter and you can simply use some combination of Haste, Critical Strike,
and Versatility gems such as
Flawless Deadly Peridot or
Flawless Versatile Garnet.
Enchants for Vengeance Demon Hunter
The following enchants increase damage or survivability. The consensus is to lean towards enchant that balance both unless some enchant is significantly overtuned. Decide which enchant is needed for the content you are playing and choose the rank depending on how long you are planning to use a certain item and how much gold you are willing to spend on it.

Consumable Recommendations
Flask
Midnight flasks come in four variants, one for each secondary stat. Generally
Vengeance prefers
Flask of the Blood Knights for Haste, but if you are very
heavy on Haste gear you can choose to use
Flask of the Shattered Sun for
Critical Strike or
Flask of Thalassian Resistance for Versatility
Potions
When it comes to Combat potions the strongest option is currently
Potion of Recklessness for a massive burst of your highest Secondary Stat,
which is usually going to be Haste, at a small loss of your lowest Secondary Stat.
This makes it a really strong potion for both burst damage and survivability while
it is active.
Midnight also has a Healing potion in
Silvermoon Health Potion which can
be used for a burst of healing if needed. As a tank it will not restore a massive
amount of your health, but it can still be useful in a pinch.
Weapon Oil/Stone
In current tuning
Thalassian Phoenix Oil wins compared to other oils and
Refulgent Whetstone both offensively and defensively.
Foodbuff
There are plenty of food choices available in Midnight, but the food that currently
looks to perform the best is one of the Main Stat Feasts such as
Silvermoon Parade,
and if that is not available you can use
Royal Roast for yourself.
