General Information

This page is a gear reference for Destruction Warlocks. It lists your best items and Legendaries, gives you gearing advice, and shows you how you will be competing for loot with other classes.

The other pages of our Destruction Warlock guide can be accessed from the table of contents on the right.

About Our Author

This guide has been written by Furty, who has an illustrious history in the World of Warcraft raiding scene and race for World First. He has been a member of guilds such as Serenity, Midwinter, and many more, and is currently raiding in Future. He plays most classes at the highest level. You can follow him on Twitter and watch him play on Twitch.

1. Tier 21 Set Bonuses for Destruction Warlock

The Tier 21 set bonuses improve Ember generation as well as adding some extra heft to our Chaos Bolt Icon Chaos Bolts.

  • Chaos Bolt Icon Chaos Bolt increases the Critical Strike chance of Incinerate Icon Incinerate on the target by 40% for 8 seconds.
  • Chaos Bolt Icon Chaos Bolt will deal an additional 12% of its damage caused to the target over 4 seconds.

Currently the Destruction set bonuses are slightly lacklustre, though still well worth obtaining. They offer a reasonable and worthwhile damage increase on both single target and two target cleave. It is not worth seeking out the set at the cost of significant item levels.

2. Legendary Items for Destruction Warlock in the Battle for Azeroth Pre-Patch

Currently, it is unclear which Legendary items are best for the pre-patch, but this section will receive a large update once the information is available.

Currently, it appears that Legendary items offering three secondary stats may be the best choice moving forward into the pre-patch. Sephuz's Secret Icon Sephuz's Secret, for example, is likely to be a strong contender.

3. Loot Competition

Regarding the loot you will get from raid or dungeon bosses, you will compete with other classes in the following cases:

Item Type Competing Classes
Tier Tokens Demon Hunters, Paladins, Priests, and Affliction/Demonology Warlocks
Cloth Armor Mages, Priests, and Affliction/Demonology Warlocks
  • Amulets
  • Cloaks
  • Rings
Trinkets Balance Druids, Mages, Shadow Priests, Elemental Shamans, and Affliction/Demonology Warlocks
