General Information

On this page, you will find tips, tricks, and strategies tailored to your Frost Mage for each boss of the following raid: Vault of the Incarnates. All our content is updated for World of Warcraft — Season 4.

1.

Introduction

On this page, you will find Frost-Mage-specific information to deal with each boss in the Vault of the Incarnates raid. This page assumes you already have a basic understanding of the fights, and focused primarily on how to do the fights as a Frost-Mage specifically.

Talents

3.

Dragonflight Raid Talent Builds for Frost Mage

Single Target/Cleave Sporadic Adds Sustained AoE
4.

Single Target and Cleave

Our default build, used on the majority of fights.

  • BAEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIRQRDJJRaCISERSkkAAAIlEJhEJJhkkkkkEAAAAAAAAAICA

Be sure to make use of the 'Copy Export String' button to import the build directly into your game!

5.

Sporadic Adds

This is nearly identical to the previous build, but it sacrifices Slick Ice Icon Slick Ice for Coldest Snap Icon Coldest Snap, which gives us pretty fantastic AoE burst on a 45-second cooldown. This does not allow for us to deal with sustained AoE, but is very nice for sporadic add spawns.

  • BAEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIRQRDJJRaCISERSkkAAAIlkIhEJJhkkkkkEAAAAAAAAAICA

Be sure to make use of the 'Copy Export String' button to import the build directly into your game!

6.

Sustained AoE

This build is a raid-modified version of our M+ build, which sacrifices single target damage for the ability to deal with sustained AoE.

  • BAEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIRQRDJJRaCISERSkkAAAkIJSIRSSikkkEJBAAAAAAAAAiA

Be sure to make use of the 'Copy Export String' button to import the build directly into your game!

7.

Eranog

7.1.

Talents/Build

Use Sporadic Adds build, unless your group has no issues with the adds dying, in which case go full Single Target.

7.2.

Tips

Flamerift Icon Flamerift cannot be Ice Block Icon Ice Blocked off. Make sure that Blizzard Icon Blizzard is ticking on the add stack after Flamerift for the slows to start on them.

Incinerate Icon Incinerate apparently can be Ice Block Icon Ice Blocked; however, if this is happening. The rest of your raid is very likely dead. It might make for wipe recovery if you happen to be an Engineer.

For more information, please refer to our Eranog guide.

8.

Terros

8.1.

Talents/Build

Use Single Target build.

8.2.

Tips

Ice Block Icon Ice Block can be used against Rock Blast Icon Rock Blast on Normal and Heroic, but not on Mythic. Attempting to solo it on Mythic will destroy the raid.

Alter Time Icon Alter Time is a handy button to deal with soaking Rock Blast Icon Rock Blast, as it allows you to snap back out of the explosion that happens afterward and heal up.

For more information, please refer to our Terros guide.

9.

The Primal Council

9.1.

Talents/Build

Use the Sustained AoE build. The bosses should be stacked at all times.

9.2.

Tips

Ice Block Icon Ice Block can allow you to solo Meteor Axes Icon Meteor Axes. Ice Cold Icon Ice Cold can likely allow the same by itself, and will absolutely let you solo if you stack it with Greater Invisibility Icon Greater Invisibility.

For more information, please refer to our The Primal Council guide.

10.

Sennarth, the Cold Breath

10.1.

Talents/Build

Use Single Target. Most of this fight's relevant damage is either 2 target, or single target at the end. The small adds do not warrant using Sporadic Adds build.

10.2.

Tips

Make sure to hit the boss with your cleave if possible. The hitbox for the boss is gigantic, but make sure that you throw Frozen Orb Icon Frozen Orb in ways that it will be hitting the boss as well as the intended adds.

Alter Time Icon Alter Time can completely negate the forced movement effects by casting it before they go off and return instantly.

Sticky Webbing Icon Sticky Webbing's slow can be removed by casting Ice Barrier Icon Ice Barrier with Energized Barriers Icon Energized Barriers talented.

Wrapped in Webs Icon Wrapped in Webs is a stun, and can be Blink Icon Blinked out of.

For more information, please refer to our Sennarth guide.

11.

Dathea, Ascended

11.1.

Talents/Build

Single Target build in most situations. Save a Comet Storm Icon Comet Storm for the add platforms, but their interval is much too long to attempt to run Sporadic Adds build unless your group is missing a lot of AoE damage on your platform assignments.

11.2.

Tips

Alter Time Icon Alter Time and Blink Icon Blink can both negate knockbacks on this fight.

Thunderbolt Icon Thunderbolt appears to be able to be removed with Ice Block Icon Ice Block and Mirror Image Icon Mirror Image is a great long-duration cooldown to help when you cannot remove it.

12.

Kurog Grimtotem

12.1.

Talents/Build

Single Target build.

12.2.

Tips

Frigid Torrent Icon Frigid Torrent's stun can be Blink Icon Blinked.

Absolute Zero Icon Absolute Zero can be solo soaked with Ice Block Icon Ice Block.

You cannot remove Searing Carnage Icon Searing Carnage, although you could use Ice Block Icon Ice Block to immune the damage itself and the movement requirements.

Thunder Strike Icon Thunder Strike should be soaked with Alter Time Icon Alter Time cast beforehand for the instant heal-up afterward.

Neither Lightning Crash Icon Lightning Crash nor Enveloping Earth Icon Enveloping Earth's debuffs can be removed with Ice Block Icon Ice Block.

For more information, please refer to our Kurog Grimtotem guide.

13.

Broodkeeper Diurna

13.1.

Talents/Build

Build depends on which assignment you have. Sustained AoE if you're on the adds, and Single Target if you're running beams with the boss.

13.2.

Tips

Mage's superior mobility allows us to deal with Greatstaff's Wrath Icon Greatstaff's Wrath effectively. Alter Time Icon Alter Time behind an egg, Blink Icon Blink into the staff and activate it, then Alter Time back behind the egg while you continue to DPS as the beam catches up to you.

All the stuns in this fight can be Blink Icon Blinked out of.

For more information, please refer to our Broodkeeper Diurna guide.

14.

Raszageth the Storm-Eater

14.1.

Talents/Build

Single Target build is going to be most beneficial most of this fight. There is no real good build that works for all phases of this fight, so you should probably concentrate on Frost's strengths, which is single target.

14.2.

Tips

Blink Icon Blink and Alter Time Icon Alter Time are invaluable for getting Static Charge Icon Static Charge and Fulminating Charge Icon Fulminating Charge out of the raid and back into position quickly.

Volatile Sparks can be dealt with as a Mage in multiple ways. Counterspell Icon Counterspell obviously works, as does Spellsteal Icon Spellsteal to strip them of Volatile Icon Volatile. Dragon's Breath Icon Dragon's Breath and Blast Wave Icon Blast Wave both work, as well as being AoE. Blast Wave, in particular, can hit multiple people's Sparks if positioned closely.

Fulminating Charge Icon Fulminating Charge's slow can be removed by Ice Barrier Icon Ice Barrier when talented into Energized Barriers Icon Energized Barriers. This is invaluable for both getting it out of the raid, and surviving the hit.

Sadly, Frost does not have many strong cooldowns for Focused Charge Icon Focused Charge, but try and have at least Ray of Frost Icon Ray of Frost for it, if not Icy Veins Icon Icy Veins itself.
