Frost Mage DPS Sanctum of Domination Raid Guide — Dragonflight 10.2.5
On this page, you will find tips, tricks, and strategies tailored to your Frost Mage for each boss of the following raid: Sanctum of Domination. All our content is updated for World of Warcraft — Dragonflight 10.2.5.
Introduction
On this page, you will find Frost Mage specific information to deal with each boss in the Sanctum of Domination raid.
This page assumes that you already understand most of the mechanics of each encounter. These can be found on the full raid guide, so what is contained here are details specifically tailored toward Frost Mage and what you can do to deal with each fight as best as possible.
The tips on this page were written for Season 4, and not for Dragonflight's changes.
During the Dragonflight Pre-Patch, Castle Nathria, Sanctum of Domination, and Sepulcher of the First Ones will be simultaneously featured as Fated Raids. During this time encounters within each specific raid will include an additional mechanic and items will drop at increased item levels. If you would like to learn more general information about the Fated Raids system as a whole, please see our overview below. Otherwise, continue to use this page for specialization-specific tips.
Talent Cheatsheet
This talent set should work as a generalist for all encounters. If your raid needs a slight bit more AoE, try the following talent build instead. The import string for it is as follows:
- BAEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIBaJCSSLg0kIiISEAAAIJBSkkkIpkkkIAAAAAAAAAAC
The Tarragrue
We advise you to use the following Legendary against The Tarragrue: Slick Ice.
There are three subsets of Anima powers for this fight. DPS picks, utility picks, and "we are literally planning the raid around you" picks.
DPS picks, in rough order of DPS:
- Elethium Weights
- Huddled Carvings, if you can maintain the buff.
- Potent Acid Gland
- Tremorbeast Heart
- Either Erratic Howler or Heart-Seeking Fang if you can stand in melee range.
- Obleron Venom
- Any non-Mastery Obleron powers.
Utility picks will mostly be Ever-Beating Heart if no one has taken it, and you have that job. Disembodied Mystic Hands if you have no Enrage dispels. Oddly Intangible Key can be fun for ignoring Hungering Mist mechanic entirely.
The last set are mechanics that are either incredibly dangerous, or require raid-wide cooperation. Lumbering Form is likely the highest DPS gain out of the bunch, but you knock people around during Hungering Mist and it will kill them. Consider pairing it with Oddly Intangible Key, and never stacking on anyone. Ten of Towers is also potentially interesting, except if you die. Given it stuns the boss as well, the only danger is missing a soak or dying during Hungering Mist. The last is Twisted Samophlange. This is incredibly powerful to other people, but not to the person who picked it. If you can layer a lot of them in the group, this is the best pick, but it requires luck to get it on everyone, and staying mostly stacked to make sure everyone gets the buff.
Outside of Anima powers, there is not much to this boss. Ice Block can be used to soak just about every mechanic if needed.
For more information, please refer to our The Tarragrue guide.
The Eye of the Jailer
We advise you to use the following Legendary against The Eye of the Jailer: Slick Ice.
Splitting Ice should be picked on Heroic or higher, as Normal and LFR do not have the add near the boss.
Blink or Shimmer through Annihilating Glare to avoid having to run to the edge of the room.
For more information, please refer to our The Eye of the Jailer guide.
The Nine
We advise you to use the following Legendary against The Nine: Slick Ice.
Alter Time has a great use in returning to range and healing the damage from Daschla's Mighty Impact.
Ice Block will remove Fragments of Destiny, potentially at a bad time. Leave it to the healers and refrain from hitting Ice Block while having it unless called on to do so.
For more information, please refer to our The Nine guide.
Remnant of Ner'zhul
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Remnant of Ner'zhul: Slick Ice.
Blink/ Shimmer and Alter Time can all be used to negate the knockback from Malevolence.
If assigned, Blink/ Shimmer and Alter Time can also be used to deal with taking the Orb of Torment to the edge of the platform and returning to combat quickly.
For more information, please refer to our Remnant of Ner'zhul guide.
Soulrender Dormazain
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Soulrender Dormazain: Slick Ice.
Ice Block can remove the Brand of Torment debuff, allowing a Mage to carry two sets of chains when combined with our movement abilities.
For more information, please refer to our Soulrender Dormazain guide.
Painsmith Raznal
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Painsmith Raznal: Slick Ice.
Blink/ Shimmer will let you bypass both the spikes mechanics, and the Spiked Balls mechanics.
For more information, please refer to our Painsmith Raznal guide.
Guardian of the First Ones
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Guardian of the First Ones: Slick Ice.
Have a defensive for Purging Protocol pulses. Otherwise, there are no Mage-specific tips.
For more information, please refer to our Guardian of the First Ones guide.
Fatescribe Roh-Kalo
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Fatescribe Roh-Kalo: Slick Ice.
Blink/ Shimmer and Alter Time can be used to quickly deal with Call of Eternity.
For more information, please refer to our Fatescribe Roh-Kalo guide.
Kel'Thuzad
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Kel'Thuzad: Slick Ice.
Frost Blast does not consider an immune player for the split damage. Only Ice Block if you are the primary target and no one else is with you.
For more information, please refer to our Kel'Thuzad guide.
Sylvanas Windrunner
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Sylvanas Windrunner: Slick Ice.
Keep an eye on Domination Chains timer, as the target downtime will destroy your Icy Veins uptime.
You cannot Ice Block Veil of Darkness off. Alter Time can help you survive the healing reduction, however.
For more information, please refer to our Sylvanas Windrunner guide.
