1. Tier 21 Set Bonuses for Unholy Death Knights

The 2 and 4-piece Tier 21 Set Bonuses are both very strong and we advise you going for them. The best pieces to use are the helm, hands, legs, and cloak, which allows you to use Tak'theritrix's Shoulderpads Icon Tak'theritrix's Shoulderpads and Cold Heart Icon Cold Heart in your shoulder and chest slots.

2. Legendary Items for Unholy Death Knights

Legendary items have a high item level of 265, which makes them extremely strong. They are so strong, in fact, that a legendary item is always going to be worth equipping over any other item you might have in that slot.

However, there is a limitation on the number of legendary items you can have equipped at any one time (by default 1, but by now most players should be able to equip 2). Since some legendary items are better than others, if you have more items than the limit, you will have to choose which ones to equip.

Below, we will do our best to guide you through this process, as well as provide any other relevant information.

Cold Heart Icon Cold Heart is your best legendary, providing a lot of damage on a 40-second cooldown. It does have a synergy with the talent Cold Heart, these 2 buffs do not stack so a Chains of Ice Icon Chains of Ice cast will consume both stacks from the legendary and the talent.

Tak'theritrix's Shoulderpads Icon Tak'theritrix's Shoulderpads buffs your Summon Gargoyle Icon Summon Gargoyle's damage, making it a staple legendary for the Summon Gargyole build, but also buffs your Apocalypse Icon Apocalypse and Army of the Dead Icon Army of the Dead minions. If you are not using Summon Gargoyle, then you do not need this legendary.

Death March Icon Death March has risen in the ranks this raid tier simply because of the Tier 21 set bonus revolving around Death Coil Icon Death Coil; if you are running Mythic+, then this Legendary is phenomenal for trash killing.

Soul of the Deathlord Icon Soul of the Deathlord is amazing for Mythic+. It is an okay legendary if you do not have any of the better ones yet.

Kil'jaeden's Burning Wish Icon Kil'jaeden's Burning Wish is a very powerful trinket compared to other options for Death Knights, which provides a DPS cooldown that should be used as often as possible. Delaying it to align with an add phase is also fine. When deciding whether or not to use this trinket, you should compare the item level of your available alternative trinkets as well as belts and rings, and choose the highest item level combination from among them, Kil'jaeden's Burning Wish, Uvanimor, the Unbeautiful Icon Uvanimor, the Unbeautiful, and Draugr, Girdle of the Everlasting King Icon Draugr, Girdle of the Everlasting King.

The Instructor's Fourth Lesson Icon The Instructor's Fourth Lesson has been nerfed many times since the launch of Legion, however is still an okay legendary, it just gets outclassed by the higher ones on this list.

Prydaz, Xavaric's Magnum Opus Icon Prydaz, Xavaric's Magnum Opus might see some high tier Unholy Death Knights using this in very high Mythic+ to survive, but this also contains a lot of secondary stats which are king for Unholy Death Knights.

Sephuz's Secret Icon Sephuz's Secret is actually somewhat useful in situations due to Death Grip Icon Death Grip, 20-stack Cold Heart Icon Cold Heart freeze effect, and other stun effects such as Asphyxiate Icon Asphyxiate being able to proc this legendary's effect.

Insignia of the Grand Army Icon Insignia of the Grand Army has a decent amount of secondary stats and now increases your healing and damage done by 2% making it okay if you have none of the staple legendaries.

Aggramar's Stride Icon Aggramar's Stride is always good to have as part of a movement set for Mythic+ where you have this and a ton of Mastery in order to significantly increase your movement speed. However, the DPS gain from it is very very small.

Uvanimor, the Unbeautiful Icon Uvanimor, the Unbeautiful is a very weak legendary compared to the ones above, however in straight DPS it is better than Sephuz's Secret Icon Sephuz's Secret and Aggramar's Stride Icon Aggramar's Stride (if you cannot proc Sephuz's Secret).

Draugr, Girdle of the Everlasting King Icon Draugr, Girdle of the Everlasting King is another very weak legendary, although it is less random for resources than Uvanimor, making it a little more bearable to play with.
