General Information

On this page, you will find a number of useful macros and addons to make your life easier when playing your Preservation Evoker in World of Warcraft — The War Within (Season 1).

1.

Macros

With the release of Dragonflight, you were given the option to enable mouseover casting. This will cause your abilities to heal whoever your cursor is currently hovering over when you press an ability. This will save you from having to create many mouseovers for each ability. Keep in mind that many players will need to disable the "auto selfcast" setting once enabling mouseovers; otherwise every spell will be cast on you.

If you have been using macros for a long time and prefer them over the new in game options, you can copy the following macro and adjust it for every spell that you wish to macro:

  • #showtooltip
  • /cast [@mouseover, help, nodead] [] Emerald Blossom

This macro will cast a spell on the target you are mouseovering on; if they are dead or you have no target, it will instead cast it on yourself.

Addons

2.1.

Generic Addons for Evokers

2.2.

ElvUI

ElvUI is a complete replacement of the default User Interface. It comes with almost everything you need to perform properly: action bars, unit frames, cooldown timers, proc displays, etc.

2.2.1.

Boss Mods: Deadly Boss Mods or Bigwigs

Boss mods are addons that warn you about boss abilities and give you live advice on how to handle some mechanics. We strongly recommend you to get one such addon. At Icy Veins, we mostly use Deadly Boss Mods, the most popular boss mod. A good alternative is Big Wigs.

2.2.2.

GTFO

GTFO is a lightweight addon that notifies you when you are standing in harmful effects or when you are making other such mistakes. It is very useful, even if your boss mod is already alerting you of such things.

2.2.3.

Details!

"Details!" Damage Meter is a real-time DPS/HPS meter with a lot of additional functionality such as being able to see cooldowns, buffs, debuffs, damage done to specific targets, and statistical analysis. In our opinion, it is superior to Skada in terms of functionality, although it is slightly more complicated to configure. We recommend Details! as your default damage meter, but if you prefer something easier, then Skada is still a good option.

2.2.4.

Method Raid Tools

Method Raid Tools is a useful addon that allows you to track the cooldowns of other raid members, as well as providing you with a wealth of other useful raid information.

2.2.5.

Vuhdo

Vuhdo is a highly customizable alternative to mouseover macros and default raid frames that can provide greater functionality, such as allowing spells to be bound to mouse buttons, among other things.

2.2.6.

Weak Auras

WeakAuras is an extremely useful addon that allows you to have visual effects on your screen, helping you track your buffs, debuffs and cooldowns. It is highly customisable and it can make it much, much easier to keep track of your procs and play your spec more proficiently. It can also be used for a variety of other functions.

If you are looking for Preservation Evoker-specific WeakAuras Wago is an excellent place to start. It has many different WeakAuras created by experienced users that can track and display just about any information you might need.
