Defensive Tips
- Liquefy can be partially mitigated by your physical mitigation spells, but majority of the damage can only actively be mitigated by Fiery Brand, or passively by talents such as Void Reaver, Fel Flame Fortification and Painbringer. Using Fel Devastation or Metamorphosis can help give a buffer of Health to survive the hit and help heal through the lingering effect.
- Feast applies a healing absorb proportional to the damage taken. Since it deals physical damage you can mitigate the damage effectively with Metamorphosis, Demon Spikes and Fiery Brand. You can also further mitigate it with passive talents like Infernal Armor by having Immolation Aura active, or Student of Suffering if you play Fel-Scarred.
- Infest follows the same rules as Liquefy, use Fiery Brand or Metamorphosis effects on top of other passive tools.
- Gorge can be mitigated by all your defensive tools and mitigating more damage will reduce raid damage taken the echoing damage.
Cooldown Usage
- Plan to have cooldowns available to mitigate all the necessary mechanics, and use any extra available casts on cooldown.
Mechanical Tips
- You can manage the pull from Wrest relatively easily with Infernal Strike.
- You can manage the knockback from Oust relatively easily with Infernal Strike.
- If you play Fel-Scarred you can talent into Chaos Nova and Wave of Debilitation and use Chaos Nova on the Spiders spawned by Infest to stun them and apply a 60% slow on them once the stun runs out.

Your standard Fel-Scarred Raid talents with a strong single target profile and solid defensive tools.
General Defensive Usage Notes
As a tank Vengeance Demon Hunter has access to several defensive spells that you should plan to use and rotate throughout mechanics. It is a good rule to note which dangerous tank mechanics deal physical damage, since several of our defensive cooldowns increase armor, reducing the damage of such abilities by a good margin.
- Metamorphosis grants increased health and armor.
- Fel Devastation with Demonic grants 7 seconds of Metamorphosis.
- Fiery Brand reduces all damage taken from the enemy by 40%.
- Demon Spikes increases your armor and chance to parry auto-attacks.
General Cooldown Usage
Vengeance Demon Hunter damage is, to a large extent, centered around using our defensive cooldowns except Demon Spikes. Therefore, to deal damage and retain aggro on the boss after tank swaps; it is highly recommended to plan out your cooldown usage so that you lose as few casts as possible of each while also covering every single dangerous mechanic.
If you are playing as Fel-Scarred it is extra vital for you to use Fel Devastation and Metamorphosis as often as possible since a very significant portion of your damage comes from those abilities. Therefore, it is recommended that you plan on using these as often as possible while working around them with your other defensive tools to make sure you mitigate all dangerous damage.
I highly suggest using some Addon or WeakAura to track the estimated time to die of your target/boss target. Method Raid Tools has this as an option if you are already using this addon. By tracking time to die, if you know that you can only fit one more cycle of your cooldowns in before the boss dies, you can choose to hold these cooldowns to better line up with Bloodlust, your Potion, or even your other cooldowns, trying to look for opportunities to stack all of them.
