Best MoP Remix Leveling Build for Arcane Mage

Dungeon / AoE Open-World Build Raid / Cleave Build
3.1.

Dungeon / AoE Open-World Build

This build is intended for speed-leveling and sacrifices single-target damage to maximize your ability to make huge pulls and AoE damage. This works very well in dungeons with big pulls or in outdoor content where you pull large groups of enemies.

3.2.

Dungeon AoE / Open-World Build

This build is aimed primarily at Raiding content or doing Dungeons at a relatively slow pace where bosses take a decent amount of time to kill. For dungeons, where you do large trash packs, pulls, or pull trash on top of bosses, we suggest going to the AoE build.

Best Gems for Arcane Mage in MoP Remix

Gems are one of the unique ways to augment your character in MoP Remix, offering offensive, defensive, and utility benefits. On this page, we list the best gems for each type. To learn more about Gems in MoP Remix in general, check out our dedicated page below.

  • Meta Gem: Lifestorm Icon Lifestorm for Raids / Oblivion Sphere Icon Oblivion Sphere for dungeons or outdoor content
  • Cogwheel Gem: Mostly personal preference, but Blink Icon Blink is always good, whereas Soulshape Icon Soulshape is very good for outdoor travel
  • Prismatic Gems:

You will have a tremendous amount of stats as you start unlocking all Gem slots, and there is no single best stat to stack. Getting a lot of Haste and Versatility is a strong option, and try to avoid Critical Strike and Mastery.

  • Tinker Gems:
    • Windweaver Icon Windweaver
    • Brilliance Icon Brilliance
    • Sunstrider's Flourish Icon Sunstrider's Flourish
    • Enkindle Icon Enkindle

    • Lightning Rod Icon Lightning Rod
    • Meteor Storm Icon Meteor Storm

Leveling Rotation for Arcane Mage

When using our slider, note that some talents may appear sooner than you expect them to in the rotation. This is because we have two recommended builds above, each taking talents at slightly different times and sometimes entirely different talents.

Starting at Level 1, you only have one main attack ability: Frostbolt Icon Frostbolt.

  1. Make sure you keep Arcane Intellect Icon Arcane Intellect up at all times. Keep in mind, if you die, you have to re-cast it. Otherwise, just cast it once per hour.
  2. Cast Time Warp Icon Time Warp when you are about to go into a big pull or boss fight. Keep in mind you can only gain the benefit once every 10 minutes, even though the cooldown is 5 minutes.
  3. Use Fire Blast Icon Fire Blast on cooldown.
  4. Cast Arcane Orb Icon Arcane Orb when you do not have 4 Arcane Charges.
  5. Cast Shifting Power Icon Shifting Power when your other spells are on cooldown. Try to use it outside of combat while moving to the next enemies.
  6. Cast Evocation Icon Evocation whenever it is ready to activate the large Intellect bonus. Use this shortly before activating Arcane Surge Icon Arcane Surge. Try to use it out of combat while moving to the next enemies.
  7. Cast Arcane Surge Icon Arcane Surge whenever it is ready, and you have 4 Arcane Charges. Make sure Touch of the Magi Icon Touch of the Magi is ready before using Arcane Surge.
  8. If Touch of the Magi Icon Touch of the Magi is ready and you have 4 Arcane Charges, Cast Arcane Barrage Icon Arcane Barrage, immediately followed by Touch of the Magi. Ensure you cast Touch of the Magi before Arcane Barrage lands.
  9. Use Arcane Missiles Icon Arcane Missiles when you get Clearcasting Icon Clearcasting.
  10. Cast Arcane Barrage Icon Arcane Barrage whenever you have 4 Arcane Charges and there are 3+ targets to hit with it. Additionally, whenever you are close to running out of Mana, cast Arcane Barrage. Only cast it with 4 Arcane Charges.
  11. Cast Arcane Explosion Icon Arcane Explosion when there are 3 or more targets.
  12. Cast Arcane Blast Icon Arcane Blast as your filler on single target.
