General Information

Macros and addons are an integral part of a raider's arsenal as they can make it easier to perform a variety of tasks, improving your overall game experience. On this page, we present macros and addons that can be useful to a Holy Priest in World of Warcraft Battle for Azeroth 8.0.1.

The other pages of our Holy Priest guide can be accessed from the table of contents on the right.

1. Macros

1.1. Generic Macros for Priests

1.1.1. Leap of Faith Mouseover Macro

  • /cast [@mouseover,help,nodead][] Leap of Faith

This macro will cast Leap of Faith Icon Leap of Faith on the target your are currently mousing over, if it is a friendly target and not dead. Otherwise, it will cast Leap of Faith on your current target.

1.2. Specific Macros for Holy Priests

While we do not recommend any specific macros for Holy Priests, we do highly suggest that all of your heals, as well as other spells that can be cast on raid members (such as Guardian Spirit Icon Guardian Spirit), be easily accessible. This can be done either through addons such as Clique, Vuhdu or Healbot, or by using mouseover macros. This will allow you to much more easily cast them on raid members.

Here is an example of a mouseover macro. Simply replace Flash Heal Icon Flash Heal with the name of the spell you want to use:

  • #showtooltip Flash Heal
  • /cast [@mouseover,help,nodead][]Flash Heal

This will cast Flash Heal on your mouseover target, assuming it is a friendly target and it is not dead. Otherwise, it will cast heal on your current target.

1.2.1. Self-Casting Angelic Feather Macro

  • /cast [@player] Angelic Feather
  • /stopspelltarget

This is a really handy macro that casts Angelic Feather Icon Angelic Feather under the player using the new @player shorthand.

1.2.2. Holy Word: Sanctify Under Cursor

  • /cast [@cursor] Holy Word: Sanctify
  • /stopspelltarget

2. Addons

2.1. Generic Addons for Priests

2.1.1. ElvUI

Here, at Icy Veins, we use ElvUI for all our characters. This addon is a complete replacement of the default User Interface. It comes with almost everything you need to perform properly: action bars, cooldown timers, proc display, etc.

We strongly recommend that you get this addon and our forum moderator Pandacho has written a quick configuration guide for it.

2.1.2. Clique

Clique is a very popular and robust addon that gives people the ability to heal by clicking raid frames of any kind (a good alternative to mouseover macros). It is compatible with most of the major unit frame set-ups (such as the default UI or ElvUI).

2.1.3. Boss Mods: Deadly Boss Mods or Bigwigs

Boss mods are addons that warn you about boss abilities and give you live advice on how to handle some mechanics. We strongly recommend you to get one such addon. At Icy Veins, we mostly use Deadly Boss Mods, the most popular boss mod. A good alternative is Big Wigs.

2.1.4. Exorsus Raid Tools

Exorsus Raid Tools is a useful addon that allows you to track the cooldowns of other raid members, as well as providing you with a wealth of other useful raid information.

2.1.5. Parrot or Mik's Scrolling Battle Text

Parrot and Mik's Scrolling Battle Text are highly customisable addons for displaying floating battle text while in combat (incoming heals, damage of your spells, etc.). They both work very well by default.

2.1.6. Weak Auras

WeakAuras is an extremely useful addon that allows you to have visual effects on your screen, helping you track your buffs, debuffs and cooldowns. It is highly customisable and it can make it much, much easier to keep track of your procs and play your spec more proficiently. It can also be used for a variety of other functions.

2.1.7. Details!

"Details!" Damage Meter is a real-time DPS/HPS meter with a lot of additional functionality such as being able to see cooldowns, buffs, debuffs, damage done to specific targets, and statistical analysis. In our opinion, it is superior to Skada in terms of functionality, although it is slightly more complicated to configure. We recommend Details! as your default damage meter, but if you prefer something easier, then Skada is still a good option.

2.1.8. Azerite Tooltip

AzeriteTooltip will show what traits are available for an Azerite armor piece for your specialization in the tooltip when moused over.

2.2. Specific Addons for Holy Priests

Currently, we do not believe that you need any additional addons to play your specialisation to its full potential.
