On this page, you will find out how you can improve at playing Devastation Evoker in World of Warcraft — Midnight Season 1. We list the common mistakes that you should try to avoid and the small details that can greatly improve your performance.

DEVASTATION EVOKER ADDITIONAL RESOURCES
1.

Not Using Dragonrage Enough

As with all cooldowns, if you hold them for too long, you effectively waste them. Dragonrage Icon Dragonrage is no exception to this.

Whilst there is an incentive to hold Dragonrage Icon Dragonrage slightly — as you already have full benefit from your Mastery: Giantkiller Icon Mastery: Giantkiller on the pull — your goal is to get as many uses in any given combat period. Ideally you should know how long the combat period is going to be, and aim to get as many uses based on your assumptions there.

Additionally, you do not want to end the combat period with Dragonrage Icon Dragonrage still active, as this is just wasted DPS potential.

2.

Using Hover Without a Prior GCD Use

Hover Icon Hover is not on the GCD and only has an animation lockout. This means during the GCD of casting an instant-cast spell, use Hover Icon Hover to not lose any GCDs in your rotation. Consider this option when you need movement to not lose DPS.

3.

Not Using Your Correct Essence Spender for the Situation

You should always consider how many targets you are facing. In some situations, Pyre Icon Pyre can be a better spell choice over Disintegrate Icon Disintegrate.

FAQWhen Should I use Pyre Instead of Disintegrate?
At three targets your Pyre Icon Pyre will start doing more total damage. But remember that if you need to kill a priority target, you should be casting Disintegrate Icon Disintegrate instead.
4.

Charging Your Empowered Spells too Much

Similar to Essence Spenders, the situation can change whether you should use Fire Breath Icon Fire Breath or Eternity Surge Icon Eternity Surge.

Eternity Surge Icon Eternity Surge should only be charged to the amount of targets you are fighting. Charging this spell further than it needs to does not deal any additional damage and just wastes time.

Fire Breath Icon Fire Breath is a bit more involved, as you need to be mindful of how long the target will live for. Your goal with Fire Breath Icon Fire Breath is to have it active on the enemy as much as possible. However, if they are at low health, then you should charge it to a higher level. This way, it deals more of that damage up front, and you do not waste any potential damage if the target dies with the DoT still active.

5.

Overusing Filler Abilities

You should always try to use your Empowered abilities and Essence spenders. When this is not possible, you can consider Living Flame Icon Living Flame and Azure Strike Icon Azure Strike casts. Do not use them otherwise.

6.

Overcapping on Essence

Sometimes essence overcapping will happen, and it is out of your control. Some examples include when you get a lot of Essence Burst Icon Essence Burst procs in a row, or during Dragonrage Icon Dragonrage. Otherwise, you should not experience this and see Essence as more of a Combo Point system: if it is full, it needs to be spent.
