Best Hero Talents for Fury Warrior in The War Within
This page is specifically about Hero Talents in The War Within. If you want to learn more about the best regular talents for Fury Warrior, check out our Talents page:
Raiding Hero Talents for Fury Warrior
Slayer is generally stronger in raids, placing an emphasis on
powerful Execute procs, while still providing easy access to passive cleave and
a very low cooldown on
Bladestorm, which is perfect for dealing with
short-lived waves of adds.
Mountain Thane is generally weaker outside of a few add-heavy
encounters, as it focuses on consistent cleave, rather than burst cooldowns,
and its single target damage falls sharply behind.
Mythic+ Hero Talents for Fury Warrior
Mountain Thane performs much better in Mythic+, thanks to the
sustained use of
Thunder Clap and
Thunder Blast against
multiple targets, while increased survivability bonuses make the hero a strong
choice in higher keys.
Slayer has several multitarget tools available to it, and can do
respectable damage in Mythic+, though its sustained multitarget tends to drop
after the initial burst period is over, due to greater emphasis on
Improved Whirlwind, which is limited to hitting a maximum of only five
targets.
Hero Talent Tier Sets for Fury Warrior in Season 3
Tier set bonuses have changed in Season 3 to be separated by hero talents instead of traditional specializations. This still results in three separate groups of bonuses, but instead of distinct Arms, Fury, and Protection sets, they are now tailored to Colossus, Mountain Thane, and Slayer.
-
Warrior Slayer 11.2 Class Set 2pc — Execute damage increased by 10% and Executes from Sudden Death have a 10% chance per stack of Overwhelmed on the target to trigger a Slayer's Strike at 100% effectiveness. Stacking up to a 100% chance to trigger a Slayer's Strike, this greatly enhances the single target damage capability of Execute, while also leading to more Sudden Death procs.
-
Warrior Slayer 11.2 Class Set 4pc — Raging Blow damage increased by 10% and Raging Blow has a 2% chance per stack of Overwhelmed on the target to trigger Reap the Storm at 150% effectiveness. Gives Raging Blow up to a 10% chance to trigger Reap, mirroring that of Bloodthirst, though this chance does not scale up when hitting multiple targets.
-
Warrior Mountain Thane 11.2 Class Set 2pc — Thunder Blast has a 35% chance to call down 5 Ionizing Strikes on affected targets. Each strike deals (150% of Attack Power) Nature damage. Calls down a total of five strikes, regardless of how many targets there are to hit.
The bonuses for both heroes are very strong, amounting to significant
increases over their Season 2 counterparts, while also shaking up the gameplay
with talent build and rotational changes. Although both sets activate
passively, they encourage more use of Sudden Death and
Thunder Blast, also resulting in more active gameplay.
Best Hero Talent Builds for Fury Warrior
Best
Slayer Single Target Raid Build for Fury Warrior
Slayer lacks compelling defensive bonuses, but offers a choice between increased mobility through
Relentless Pursuit and
Vicious Agility. Which is better will largely come down to circumstance, though the increased movement speed after using Charge is very helpful in raid situations where bosses get quickly pulled from one side of the room to the other, making it a safe default choice. In the rare circumstance where Heroic Leap is needed just a few seconds sooner,
Vicious Agility may be worth swapping to.
Best
Slayer Multitarget Raid Build for Fury Warrior
Slayer changes only a couple talents between single and multitarget, making it very flexible.
Best
Mountain Thane Mythic+ Build for Fury Warrior
Mountain Thane has a defensive choice between randomly increased damage mitigation from
Keep Your Feet on the Ground or preemptively increased maximum health with
Steadfast as the Peaks. While both are quite good, Steadfast requires more proactive gameplay, while the Season 3 tier set bonus grants very high uptime on the passive damage reduction without much effort at all.
Hero Talents Rotation for Fury Warrior
Mountain Thane differs from a normal Fury Warrior in one key way:
effectively replacing
Whirlwind with
Thunder Clap.
Supported by several talents throughout all three talent trees, it deals
significantly more damage, making each cast feel more impactful, while also
continuing to allow single-target abilities to cleave. The result is a very
similar playstyle, though
Thunder Blast takes on a higher priority.
Slayer plays exactly like a traditional Fury Warrior, simply
gaining more
Sudden Death procs, which in turn leads to more
frequent use of
Bladestorm. There is a catch, however, in that the
hero talents only emphasize Executes that come from Sudden Death, while the
normal casts below 20% are rather lackluster.
