General Information

On this page, we list the best gems, enchants, flasks, potions, and food you can get for your Havoc Demon Hunter, based on your stat priority. We also give budget alternatives. This page is updated for World of Warcraft — The War Within (11.2).

1.

Enchants, Gems and Consumables for Havoc Demon Hunter

This section covers the optimal gems, enchants, food, potions, and flasks to use with your character. Please visit our dedicated Stats page to get a more detailed rundown of the different stats for Havoc Demon Hunter.

For all consumables (excluding food) in the lists below, if you are looking for a cheaper alternative, look for a lower rank of the same item listed. The price difference is often significant for a small loss in stats gained.

2.

Best Gems for Havoc Demon Hunter

It is highly recommended that you simulate your character for gems, as individual gear pieces have a big impact on gem options. As our stats are very similar across both Hero Talent trees and content types, we have a one-size-fits-all approach:

  • Use Culminating Blasphemite Icon Culminating Blasphemite in your first socket.
  • Aim to have one of each color of gem to maximize its effect, focusing on Critical Strike. Use a single Deadly Emerald Icon Deadly Emerald, Deadly Onyx Icon Deadly Onyx, and Deadly Sapphire Icon Deadly Sapphire.
  • All other sockets should have Masterful Ruby Icon Masterful Ruby or Deadly Onyx Icon Deadly Onyx.

You can also optionally substitute the Culminating Blasphemite Icon Culminating Blasphemite for an Elusive Blasphemite Icon Elusive Blasphemite. This trades a small amount of DPS for additional movement speed instead.

3.

Best Enchants for Havoc Demon Hunter

Slot Best Enchantment
Necklace
  • Magnificent Jeweler's Setting Icon Magnificent Jeweler's Setting (adds up to 2 sockets)
Main Hand
  • Enchant Weapon - Stonebound Artistry Icon Enchant Weapon - Stonebound Artistry
Off Hand
  • Enchant Weapon - Council's Guile Icon Enchant Weapon - Council's Guile
Cloak
  • Enchant Cloak - Chant of Winged Grace Icon Enchant Cloak - Chant of Winged Grace
Chest
  • Enchant Chest - Crystalline Radiance Icon Enchant Chest - Crystalline Radiance
Bracers
  • Enchant Bracer - Chant of Armored Avoidance Icon Enchant Bracer - Chant of Armored Avoidance
Legs
  • Stormbound Armor Kit Icon Stormbound Armor Kit
Boots
  • Enchant Boots - Defender's March Icon Enchant Boots - Defender's March
Rings
  • Enchant Ring - Radiant Critical Strike Icon Enchant Ring - Radiant Critical Strike
  • Magnificent Jeweler's Setting Icon Magnificent Jeweler's Setting (adds up to 2 sockets per ring)

For weapons, a combination of any of the 3 secondary stat procs works depending on your characters stats. We recommend Enchant Weapon - Stonebound Artistry Icon Enchant Weapon - Stonebound Artistry and Enchant Weapon - Council's Guile Icon Enchant Weapon - Council's Guile, as it works out best for both hero talent options.

Your ring enchants are determined by character sims, as both Critical Strike and Mastery options are similar in value.

Cloak, Bracer, and Boot enchants are personal preferences as they have no direct impact on performance, but we recommend Avoidance and Stamina for the extra survivability.

4.

Best Flask for Havoc Demon Hunter

There are three options for your flask of choice depending on the situation:

  • Flask of Alchemical Chaos Icon Flask of Alchemical Chaos — is slightly more RNG than the alternatives, but it is a net positive in stats and also leads to stronger Tempered Potion Icon Tempered Potion uses so is recommended.
  • Flask of Tempered Aggression Icon Flask of Tempered Aggression / Flask of Tempered Mastery Icon Flask of Tempered Mastery — Slightly weaker, but more consistent due to providing a bulk of a stat we prefer. Remember though, it leads to a weaker Tempered Potion Icon Tempered Potion.

You can also obtain a flask of your choice from Algari Flask Cauldron Icon Algari Flask Cauldrons provided by Alchemists.

5.

Best Potion for Havoc Demon Hunter

Tempered Potion Icon Tempered Potion is your best option, and should be paired with major cooldowns and Bloodlust Icon Bloodlust / Heroism Icon Heroism. You can also obtain Fleeting Tempered Potion Icon Fleeting Tempered Potion from Algari Potion Cauldron Icon Algari Potion Cauldron provided by Alchemists.

Invigorating Healing Potion Icon Invigorating Healing Potion is the current best healing potion. Using this has a 5-minute cooldown, but multiple can be consumed in an extended boss fight should it go on long enough. Additionally, Warlock's Healthstone Icon Healthstones do not share a cooldown with other healing consumables. Remember to use it as well if you are holding one!

6.

Best Food for Havoc Demon Hunter in The War Within

As Critical Strike and Mastery are currently exceptionally strong, you should be using secondary food so long as either are your current highest stat. The The Sushi Special Icon The Sushi Special feast or any of Outsider's Provisions Icon Outsider's Provisions, Beledar's Bounty Icon Beledar's Bounty, Jester's Board Icon Jester's Board or Empress' Farewell Icon Empress' Farewell for personal food provides this.

6.1.

Weapon Enhancement Consumables for Havoc Demon Hunter

Your weapon enhancement consumable of choice is Algari Mana Oil Icon Algari Mana Oil to provide additional Critical Strike and Haste, as it is more beneficial than the attack power from Ironclaw Whetstone Icon Ironclaw Whetstone.

7.

Augment Runes for Havoc Demon Hunter

In addition, if you can afford it, you should use Crystallized Augment Rune Icon Crystallized Augment Runes to increase your primary stat. Augment Runes are expensive, and disappear on death, so use them wisely!

You can also buy the permanent Ethereal Augment Rune Icon Ethereal Augment Rune once at Renown 18 with the new Season 3 K'aresh Trust faction or use the Soulgorged Augment Rune Icon Soulgorged Augment Runes that drop from the new raid and persist through death.
