Havoc Demon Hunter DPS Gems, Enchants, and Consumables — Midnight Pre-Patch (12.0)
On this page, we list the best gems, enchants, flasks, potions, and food you can get for your Havoc Demon Hunter, based on your stat priority. We also give budget alternatives. This page is updated for World of Warcraft — Midnight Pre-Patch (12.0).
Enchants, Gems and Consumables for Havoc Demon Hunter
This section covers the optimal gems, enchants, food, potions, and flasks to use with your character. Please visit our dedicated Stats page to get a more detailed rundown of the different stats for Havoc Demon Hunter.
For all consumables (excluding food) in the lists below, if you are looking for a cheaper alternative, look for a lower rank of the same item listed. The price difference is often significant for a small loss in stats gained.
Best Gems for Havoc Demon Hunter
It is recommended that you simulate your character for gems, as individual gear pieces have a big influence. As stats are very similar across different builds and content, we have a one-size-fits-all approach:
- Use
Culminating Blasphemite in your first socket. - Aim to have one of each color of gem to maximize its effect, focusing
on Critical Strike. Use a single
Deadly Emerald,
Deadly Onyx, and
Deadly Sapphire. - All other sockets should have
Masterful Ruby or
Deadly Onyx.
You can also optionally substitute the
Culminating Blasphemite
for an
Elusive Blasphemite. This trades a small amount of DPS for
additional movement speed instead.
Best Enchants for Havoc Demon Hunter
| Slot | Best Enchantment |
|---|---|
| Necklace |
|
| Main Hand |
|
| Off Hand |
|
| Cloak |
|
| Chest |
|
| Bracers |
|
| Legs |
|
| Boots |
|
| Rings |
|
For weapons, due to the increased value of Agility in Midnight, you should always
be using
Enchant Weapon - Authority of Radiant Power on both weapons regardless
of situation or build.
Your ring enchants are determined by character sims, as both Critical Strike and Mastery options are similar in value.
Cloak, Bracer, and Boot enchants are personal preferences as they have no direct impact on performance, but we recommend Avoidance and Stamina for the extra survivability.
Useful Leveling Consumables for Midnight
With the release of Midnight on the horizon, it means it's almost time for everyone to level again to 90. To help speed this up, there's a few optional consumables you can start picking up now to speed things up.
To be as prepared as possible, look to acquire at least some of the following items and enchants:
Charged Phial of Alacrity — A Phial from Dragonflight
which persists through death, giving bonus Speed for 30 minutes. If you're already
geared, it's often about moving between pulls rather than a bit more damage.
Exquisitely Eviscerated Muscle — A food item from The War Within,
grants a large boost to Speed for 1 hour, but is lost on death.
Elusive Blasphemite — If your gear has plenty of sockets, switch
to this Algari Diamond and each of The War Within's gem colors
for extra speed.
Enchant Boots - Scout's March /
Enchant Chest - Stormrider's Agility /
Enchant Bracer - Chant of Armored Speed /
Enchant Cloak - Chant of Burrowing Rapidity —
Switch all of your armor enchants over to extra Speed effects if you were previously
using Avoidance or Leech.
Gunshoes — A tried and true pickup for leveling, these are always
nice to have to get through areas where you can't mount, and even work across water.
These can't be activated while in combat though, and are cancelled when
taking damage.
Shimmerscale Diving Suit /
Shimmerscale Diving Helmet — These
consumables from Battle for Azeroth can help with any sections that involve going
underwater - though in Midnight's zones that doesn't happen very often.
Best Flask for Havoc Demon Hunter
There are three options for your flask of choice depending on the situation:
Flask of Alchemical Chaos — is slightly more RNG than
the alternatives, but it is a net positive in stats and also leads to
stronger
Tempered Potion uses so is recommended.
Flask of Tempered Aggression /
Flask of Tempered Mastery —
Slightly weaker, but more consistent due to providing a bulk of a stat we prefer.
Remember though, it leads to a weaker
Tempered Potion.
You can also obtain a flask of your choice from
Algari Flask Cauldrons
provided by Alchemists.
Best Potion for Havoc Demon Hunter
Tempered Potion is your best option, and should be paired with major
cooldowns and
Bloodlust /
Heroism. You can also obtain
Fleeting Tempered Potion from
Algari Potion Cauldron provided
by Alchemists.
Invigorating Healing Potion is the current best healing potion. Using
this has a 5-minute cooldown, but multiple can be consumed in an extended boss
fight should it go on long enough. Additionally, Warlock's
Healthstones do not share a cooldown with other healing consumables.
Remember to use it as well if you are holding one!
Best Food for Havoc Demon Hunter in The War Within
As Agility is back to being the most valuable stat in Midnight, you should be
eating a
Feast of the Midnight Masquerade if possible. If this isn't provided
by your group, stick to
Beledar's Bounty personal food instead.
Weapon Enhancement Consumables for Havoc Demon Hunter
Your weapon enhancement consumable of choice is two
Algari Mana Oil
for Critical Strike and Haste.
Augment Runes for Havoc Demon Hunter
In addition, if you can afford it, you should use
Crystallized Augment Runes
to increase your primary stat. Augment Runes are expensive, and disappear on death,
so use them wisely!
You can also buy the permanent
Ethereal Augment Rune once at Renown 18
with the new Season 3 K'aresh Trust faction or use the
Soulgorged Augment Runes
that drop from the new raid and persist through death.
