BiS Gear Guide for Holy Priest

Welcome to our Gear and BiS Page for Holy Priest for Midnight. Check this page to learn everything you need to know about gearing a Holy Priest, including the BiS Gear from all sources, Raiding, and Mythic+, information on the best Trinkets, Tier Sets, and much more. Keep in mind that with Midnight comes a stat squish, meaning that each item will provide significantly fewer stats than it once had. Your overall damage and healing will also be lowered as a result.

Due to the wide variety of gear providing secondary stats that are all very close in value for us and augments such as sockets or tertiary stats, there is no certain Best in Slot list. This page aims to guide you toward the best possible items, particularly in trinket slots.

To learn more about stats and how they affect your gearing, check out the Holy Priest Stats page linked below.

Pre-Season BiS List for Holy Priest

This list contains the Best in Slot Gear for Holy Priest from Midnight Season 1 Pre-Season.

Note that this BiS List is for items from dungeons. We are separating the BiS lists by gear sources. This is the list you can chase when you want to improve your gear for raiding by farming dungeons.

Note that there is no such thing as a singular, all-encompassing "BiS". The best items vary per character and situation, and there are many items that are essentially equivalent in terms of HPS, namely when we are just shuffling secondary stats around. We will list one "BiS" item per slot, sometimes two if we feel there is a significant difference, but ultimately, BiS lists are not very practically useful. Nonetheless, there is a huge demand for this, so here it is for your perusal.

Best Trinkets for Holy Priest in Midnight Pre-Season

Trinket Tier List

This Trinket Tier List is based on the best attributes to improve your Raid performance, unless otherwise mentioned.

If you are using an on-use trinket, you can macro this together with Apotheosis Icon Apotheosis using the macro below, so long as your trinket is in your top trinket slot. While multiple on-use trinkets are available, we do not suggest running two at once.

  • #showtooltip Apotheosis
  • /use 13
  • /cast Apotheosis
3.1.

S-Tier

  • None.
3.2.

A-Tier

3.3.

B-Tier

  • Emberwing Feather Icon Emberwing Feather (Windrunner Spire).
  • Seed of Radiant Hope (The Blinding Vale).
3.4.

C-Tier and below

Due to the large number of trinkets available, only those considered B-Tier or higher have been listed. If you don't see a trinket listed above, you can presume it is C-tier or lower.

You can view a complete list by importing your character into the QE Live tool and selecting Trinkets.

Best Crafted Items for Holy Priest

Crafting is an essential way of getting high-item-level gear. You will only be able to craft lower level items in the opening week of an expansion. That'll change when the season itself starts.

Since there are only a few crafts you can make at high item levels, it is important to choose the slots wisely. We do not recommend crafting anything in the potential tier slots (Head, Shoulders, Chest, Gloves, Legs). Another factor to remember is Embellished items which provide additional effects to increase your healing. You can only wear two items with these effects.

4.1.

Embellished Gear

Since Embellishments are the most powerful crafted gear, you will prioritize them first, but in the opening weeks of the expansion you are unlikely to run any, since they are not worth the heavy item level loss and high item level crafts aren't available yet. If you want to start experimenting with them early I recommend the following:

  • Darkmoon Sigil: Hunt Icon Darkmoon Sigil: Hunt on a weapon slot.
  • Arcanoweave Lining Icon Arcanoweave Lining on any armor slot.
4.2.

Crafting Recommendations

At the start of the expansion, you can freely craft the blue cloth sets. They will cap out at 213 item level with no crest investment, and 250 item level if you're willing to spend Veteran Dawncrest Icon Veteran Dawncrest on them. You won't wear this gear long but it can replace some of your levelling items.

When season one starts two weeks later, you will be able to craft much higher item level pieces, using Spark of Radiance Icon Spark of Radiance. You are very likely to open with a two-handed staff craft since the weapon slot provides a lot of our power from gear. We will update this page with more specific crafting recommendations for your Spark of Radiance Icon Spark of Radiance just before season one launches. We do not suggest using your spark until checking in with our updated recommendations.

  • Blind Oath's Winged Crest Icon Blind Oath's Winged Crest
  • Blind Oath's Seraphguards Icon Blind Oath's Seraphguards
  • Blind Oath's Raiment Icon Blind Oath's Raiment
  • Blind Oath's Touch Icon Blind Oath's Touch

  • 2pc Priest Holy 12.0 Class Set 2pc Icon Priest Holy 12.0 Class Set 2pc: Casting Benediction Icon Benediction has a high chance to summon a Divine Image Icon Divine Image.
  • 4pc Priest Holy 12.0 Class Set 4pc Icon Priest Holy 12.0 Class Set 4pc: Divine Image Icon Divine Image lasts for an additional 3 seconds and its healing and damage is increased by 30%.

This set bonus does not dramatically change our playstyle, however it does encourage regular usage of Benediction Icon Benediction to maximise the healing from Divine Image Icon Divine Image.

Best Gear Upgrades for Holy Priest

Once you have upgraded a slot to a certain item level, upgrading other items of that slot to that item level is free. When you upgrade with Crests, you should think of it as upgrading slots and not items. Additionally, since Crests are a limited resource, you will want to obtain the highest item-level possible before upgrading a given slot, as this means you will spend fewer Crests on that slot in total.

We see many players, even at a high level, mess up their upgrade priorities, and upgrading prematurely. Getting this right will put you far ahead of most players.

Below is the slot priority you should upgrade your items in. If you ever want to deviate from this, you should have a very good reason.

  1. Weapons
  2. Trinkets
  3. Helm/Chest/Legs
  4. Rings and Necks
  5. Shoulders/Gloves/Belt/Boots
  6. Cloaks and Bracers

Note that exceptions are possible, such as special items that have more Item Level scaling than their slot would imply.

7.

"Simming" Yourself as a Holy Priest

While your playstyle contributes the most to your performance, and there is no way to "sim" healing, there are still tools available to help make informed decisions about which items to wear. Simply wearing your best item-level items gets you most of the way there, but to assist with evaluating similar item-level items or items with additional effects, you can load your character into QE Live to view some comparisons of your top gear.
