On this page, we list the best gems, enchants, flasks, potions, and food you can get for your Assassination Rogue, based on your stat priority. We also give budget alternatives. This page is updated for World of Warcraft Patch 12.1.
Recommended Gems
You should use
Powerful Eversong Diamond in one socket. Alternatively you
can choose to not play a Prismatic gem, which will allow you to stack more of the same-colored
secondary stat gems instead. The difference here is very minor, so you can go with the choice
that best suits your money-bag.
For your secondary stat gems, pick Crit or Haste gems, like
Flawless Deadly Peridot
or
Flawless Quick Garnet. If you plan on playing a Prismatic gem for the minor crit-damage
bonus, make sure to grab at least one of each gem type, like
Flawless Deadly Lapis and
Flawless Deadly Amethyst,
and then fill the remaining slows with the higher-value gems that we listed earlier.
You will likely have to shuffle around stats and consumables a little, based on what
stats you have on your gear. I.e. if you have a very high Haste item like
Gaze of the Coiled Watcher
or
Alluring Bubbleband, you may want to opt for high crit gems and a Crit Flask,
otherwise grab Haste from those sources instead.

Whether you choose to enchant your gear with Avoidance, Leech, or Speed is
up to you. Leech will allow you to gain some additional passive healing while
you do damage, Avoidance reduces the damage taken by Area-of-Effect spells,
similar to
Feint, and Speed simply increases your movement speed. For
Raid progression movement speed is often underrated and can be a minor DPS
increase if it allows you to reach your target faster.
It is always recommended to sim yourself to find out what enchants provide the best benefit to you individually.

Optimal Consumables
In addition to enchants and improvements to your gear, making sure you come prepared with the right consumables to endgame content has a big impact on your performance.
Flask
You will want to grab
Flask of the Blood Knights as your go-to Flask for the Haste bonus.
However,
Flask of the Shattered Sun is also viable if you already have very high Haste
levels, i.e. if every single one of your items has Haste on them, the Crit Flask is going
to be ever-so-slightly better.
You can also obtain a flask of your choice from
Cauldron of Sin'dorei Flaskss
provided by Alchemists.
Potions
Light's Potential is your best option, and should be paired with major
cooldowns and
Bloodlust /
Heroism. You can also obtain
temporary versions of the potion from
Voidlight Potion Cauldron provided
by Alchemists.
In Season 2 you now have access to
Concentrated Silvermoon Health Potion
which is significantly better than
Silvermoon Health Potion. Using
this has a 5-minute cooldown, but multiple can be consumed in an extended boss
fight should it go on long enough. Additionally, Warlock's
Healthstone does not share a cooldown with other healing consumables.
Remember to use it as well if you are holding one!
Food Buff
Try to chomp down on
Silvermoon Parade or another primary stat feast
if possible. If this isn't provided by your group, stick to
Royal Roast as your
personal food instead.
Augment Rune
In addition, if you can afford it, you should use
Void-Touched Augment Runes
to increase your primary stat. Augment Runes are expensive and disappear on death,
so use them wisely and sparingly!
