Retribution Paladin DPS Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible Raid Guide — Dragonflight 10.2.7
On this page, you will find tips, tricks, and strategies tailored to your Retribution Paladin for each boss of the following raid: Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible. All our content is updated for World of Warcraft — Dragonflight 10.2.7.
Introduction
Below, you can find class and spec-specific advice for every fight in Aberrus. If you are looking for a general overview of the Raid that is not spec-specific, check out our dedicated Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible guides.
This page contains talent builds and information specific to Retribution Paladin. The information here assumes that you have a general understanding of how the basic mechanics in the raid work, so if you are not fully clear about any mechanical aspects, see the guide above.
Here, you can find information about the best talents to use for each encounter in Aberrus, as well as information on how to best deal with the various mechanics on each boss. The information here is focused on helping your progression, which is not always the same thing as doing the highest damage for the encounter. Strategies that aim to do more damage at the cost of making the encounter more difficult to kill are outside of the scope of this page.
Retribution Paladin Talents for Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible
Retribution uses largely the same single-target build for most of the raid, with only occasional talent changes. This is the build you should use for most bosses, and that will serve as a foundation for all encounters:
Kazzara, the Hellforged
Talents
Use the single-target build linked above.
Tips
- Use
Shield of Vengeance and
Divine Protection just before
Hellsteel Carnage.
Divine Steed is useful to drop
Dread Rift outside of the raid and to kite
Rays of Anguish over them if targeted. It is also useful if you need to move for
Wings of Extinction if it knocks you or will knock you into a damaging ground effect.
For more information, please refer to our Kazzara guide.
The Amalgamation Chamber
Talents
Use the single-target build linked above. While you can fight the bosses together for a short time at the very beginning of the encounter, it is not long enough to be worth making any talent changes for.
Tips
- Use
Shield of Vengeance and
Divine Protection when soaking
Fiery Meteor,
Molten Eruption,
Gloom Conflagration, and
Convergent Eruption.
For more information, please refer to our Amalgamation Chamber guide.
The Forgotten Experiments
Talents
For Normal or Heroic, use the single-target build linked above. For Mythic, use the following build:
- CYEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAwAAMtZZbmZbZbM2mZmttZ2AAAAAAwYyD0MDDMzwYWGDzMMLzihhBDzYsswGAAAEEAAAA
You will also want access to Blessing of Protection as well for all difficulties.
Tips
- You can use
Blessing of Protection to remove the DoT component of
Rending Charge from other players, and
Divine Shield to remove it from yourself.
- Use
Shield of Vengeance and
Divine Protection when you have high stacks of
Unstable Essence.
For more information, please refer to our Forgotten Experiments guide.
Assault of the Zaqali
Talents
Unless your group is tunneling the boss, you will want some AoE talents for the waves of adds. You should generally use a build that still focuses mainly on single-target as recommended here, but full AoE builds can do more overall damage:
- CYEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAwAAMtZZbmZbZbM2mZmllZ2AAAAAAwYyD0MzmBmBjZZMMzwsMLGbDDGMGLLsBAAABBAAAA
Tips
- Use
Shield of Vengeance and
Divine Protection for your assigned
Catastrophic Slam soak.
- Make sure to spread for the secondary part of
Flaming Cudgel. You can stand a little further away from the boss than other melee DPS if necessary since most of your abilities have a longer range.
For more information, please refer to our Assault of the Zaqali guide.
Rashok, the Elder
Talents
Use the single-target build linked above.
Tips
- Use
Divine Steed to drop
Searing Slam out of the raid, making sure to not overlap it with previous drops.
- Use
Shield of Vengeance and
Divine Protection during
Searing Slam or
Charged Smash.
For more information, please refer to our Rashok the Elder guide.
The Vigilant Steward, Zskarn
Talents
Use the single-target build linked above.
Tips
Blessing of Protection and
Divine Shield can be used to immune the damage from
Shrapnel Bomb.
- Be careful of the where you will be knocked by
Blast Wave, as you have no way to deal with them other than simply running. Use
Divine Steed to move for these if necessary, or otherwise for
Tactical Destruction.
- Kick the golems from
Animate Golems with
Rebuke and focus them down.
Shield of Vengeance and
Divine Protection can be used as necessary for any overlaps of
Blast Wave,
Unstable Embers, and
Dragonfire Traps.
For more information, please refer to our Zskarn guide.
Magmorax
Talents
Use the single-target build linked above.
Tips
- You can use
Blessing of Protection and
Divine Shield to prevent the knockback from
Overpowering Stomp.
- Use
Shield of Vengeance and
Divine Protection when targeted by
Molten Spittle or soaking
Lava Ejection.
For more information, please refer to our Magmorax guide.
Echo of Neltharion
Talents
Use the single-target build linked above. Although there are additional targets in some phases, they are either targets that need to be focused as a priority or ones that will simply die to passive cleave from the rest of the raid.
Tips
- You can use
Blessing of Sacrifice on other players targeted by
Volcanic Heart.
- Use
Shield of Vengeance and
Divine Protection during
Umbral Annihilation.
Divine Shield will let you survive
Ebon Destruction while also removing all prior stacks, so you may want to save it for the second or third cast.
Blessing of Protection can remove the debuff from
Calamitous Strike from your tank, but make sure they are aware you are planning on casting it.
For more information, please refer to our Neltharion guide.
Scalecommander Sarkareth
Talents
Use the single-target build linked above. Although there are additional targets in some phases, they are either targets that need to be focused as a priority or ones that will simply die to passive cleave from the rest of the raid.
Tips
- You need to clear your
Oppressing Howl debuff by being hit by
Mass Disintegrate or
Searing Breath. Use
Shield of Vengeance and
Divine Protection to help survive this.
- Interrupt Empty Recollection casts with
Rebuke.
- If you get targeted by
Embrace of Nothingness, you can use
Divine Shield to soak it alone.
For more information, please refer to our Scalecommander Sarkareth guide.
