Retribution Paladin DPS Castle Nathria Raid Guide — Dragonflight 10.2.5
On this page, you will find tips, tricks, and strategies tailored to your Retribution Paladin for each boss of the following raid: Castle Nathria. All our content is updated for World of Warcraft — Dragonflight 10.2.5.
Introduction
On this page, you will find Retribution-Paladin-specific information to deal with each boss in the Castle Nathria raid.
This page assumes that you already understand most of the mechanics of each encounter. These can be found on the full raid guide, so what is contained here are details specifically tailored toward Retribution Paladins and what you can do to deal with each fight as best as possible.
During the Dragonflight Pre-Patch, Castle Nathria, Sanctum of Domination, and Sepulcher of the First Ones will be simultaneously featured as Fated Raids. During this time encounters within each specific raid will include an additional mechanic and items will drop at increased item levels. If you would like to learn more general information about the Fated Raids system as a whole, please see our overview below. Otherwise, continue to use this page for specialization-specific tips.

Shriekwing
We recommend to use the default single-target talents. Swap 1 Highlord's Judgment node for Tempest of the Lightbringer. Blessing of Protection can be picked instead of Golden Path if you wish to help your tanks.
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Shriekwing: Final Verdict.
Tips
- After communicating with your tanks, you can remove the co-tanks Exsanguinated debuff with Blessing of Protection.
For more information, please refer to our Shriekwing guide.
Huntsman Altimor
We recommend to use the default cleave talents. Blessing of Protection should be picked instead of Golden Path to allow allies to solo Vicious Lunge.
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Huntsman Altimor: Relentless Inquisitor.
Tips
- You can solo Vicious Lunge with Divine Shield and allow allies to solo it with your Blessing of Protection.
- You can use Shield of Vengeance while getting targeted by Sinseeker to easily survive.
- After communicating with your tanks, you can remove the co-tanks Jagged Claws debuff with Blessing of Protection.
- After communicating with your Bargast tank, you can use Blessing of Sacrifice to reduce the initial Rip Soul hit as much as possible.
- Mythic: You can use Divine Shield and Blessing of Protection to help with soaking the empowered Sinseekers.
For more information, please refer to our Huntsman Altimor guide.
Sun King's Salvation
We recommend to use the default cleave talents.
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Sun King's Salvation: Relentless Inquisitor.
Tips
- Mythic: Save your cooldowns to nuke the Cloak of Flames absorb shields.
- Mythic: If your raid lacks healing throughput for the healing checks, you can use Healing Hands and spam Word of Glory on the boss. Retribution is the best DPS off-healer for this fight if it really wants to be during the healing phases.
For more information, please refer to our Sun King's Salvation guide.
Artificer Xy'Mox
We recommend to use the default single-target talents. Swap 1 Highlord's Judgment node for Tempest of the Lightbringer.
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Artificer Xy'Mox: Final Verdict.
Tips
- You can use Blessing of Sacrifice on allies affected by Withering Touch, preferably on those who also need to use the Dimensional Tears with the debuff to help them while they are no longer in the range of the healers.
- You should keep Shield of Vengeance as a defensive tool in case you get targeted by Withering Touch.
- Mythic: Always be cautious and wait some seconds to see if you have to kite the next ghost or place the next portal or not before using big damage cooldowns.
- Mythic: You can use Divine Shield to get out of Stasis Traps. During Divine Shield you also can soak all of the other Stasis Traps. If the traps are placed far from each other, you can use Divine Steed to help clear them all.
For more information, please refer to our Artificer Xy'Mox guide.
Hungering Destroyer
We recommend to use the default single-target talents. Swap 1 Highlord's Judgment node for Tempest of the Lightbringer.
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Hungering Destroyer: Final Verdict.
Tips
- Use Shield of Vengeance if your Health drops low while having the Gluttonous Miasma debuff, since you cannot be healed.
- Use Lay on Hands if you are on low Health just before dropping off the Expunge debuff.
- Use Divine Shield in combination with Divine Steed to soak as many of the Obliterating Rifts as possible if the off-tank is not assigned to that job.
For more information, please refer to our Hungering Destroyer guide.
Lady Inerva Darkvein
We recommend to use the default single-target talents. Swap 1 Highlord's Judgment node for Tempest of the Lightbringer and the second Highlord's Judgment node for Sanctification.
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Lady Inerva Darkvein: Final Verdict.
Tips
- Depending on how you and your allies need to move for the Shared Suffering, you can use Divine Steed to get to your position quickly if you are late or use it to come back to the boss quickly if you could get to your position in time without it.
- Mythic: You can use Blessing of Freedom to remove the Rooted in Anima debuff caused by Concentrated Anima, so that player can position themselves properly before the adds spawn.
For more information, please refer to our Lady Inerva Darkvein guide.
The Council of Blood
We recommend to use the default cleave talents. Swap 1 Highlord's Judgment node for Tempest of the Lightbringer and the second Highlord's Judgment node for Sanctification.
We advise you to use the following Legendary against The Council of Blood: Relentless Inquisitor.

- You can use Shield of Vengeance if you get targeted by Drain Essence.
- Keep at least one Divine Steed charge available to quickly move into position for the Danse Macabre.
For more information, please refer to our The Council of Blood guide.
Sludgefist
We recommend to use the default single-target talents. Blessing of Protection should be picked for Mythic instead of Golden Path to allow allies to allow one ally to survive the intentional chain break.
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Sludgefist: Final Verdict.
Tips
- Make use of the 12-second 100% damage taken debuff after he charges into a pillar. Keep your damage cooldowns for these nuke phases.
- Mythic: If your raid is planning to sacrifice players for Chain Slam casts, you can use Blessing of Protection on the partner of the targeted player to keep them alive while they break their partner's chain for the sacrifice.
For more information, please refer to our Sludgefist guide.
Stone Legion Generals
We recommend to use the default cleave talents. Blessing of Protection should be picked instead of Golden Path to protect allies from Ravenous Feast.
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Stone Legion Generals: Relentless Inquisitor.
Tips
- During important situations, you should use Blessing of Protection on your ally who is affected by Ravenous Feast to immune both the stun and damage taken.
For more information, please refer to our Stone Legion Generals guide.
Sire Denathrius
We recommend to use the default single-target talents. Swap one Highlord's Judgment node for Tempest of the Lightbringer. Blessing of Protection should be picked for Mythic instead of Golden Path to allow yourself or allies to solo soak Night Hunter. For Mythic you also want it against the knockback in the last phase.
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Sire Denathrius: Final Verdict.
Tips
- Keep at least one Divine Steed charge available to quickly move through the mirrors.
- If you get targeted by Night Hunter, you can use Divine Shield or Blessing of Protection to solo-soak.
