There are a couple of options available when it comes to talents as an Arcane Mage in Torghast.

2.1.1.

Level 15 Talent Row for Arcane Mage in Torghast

Amplification Amplification Rule of Threes Rule of Threes Arcane Familiar Arcane Familiar

Amplification Icon Amplification is the best option here if you are struggling killing the final boss or need more power for the mini bosses, otherwise Arcane Familiar Icon Arcane Familiar is best.

2.1.2.

Level 25 Talent Row for Arcane Mage in Torghast

Master of Time Master of Time Shimmer Shimmer Slipstream Slipstream

Generally Shimmer Icon Shimmer will be better here, as you will spend a large portion of the run casting AoE spells instead of Arcane Missiles Icon Arcane Missiles. But if you prefer Slipstream Icon Slipstream it can still be picked.

2.1.3.

Level 30 Talent Row for Arcane Mage in Torghast

Incanter's Flow Incanter's Flow Focus Magic Focus Magic Rune of Power Rune of Power

There is too much movement for Rune of Power Icon Rune of Power so Incanter's Flow Icon Incanter's Flow is the only real option.

2.1.4.

Level 35 Talent Row for Arcane Mage in Torghast

Resonance Resonance Arcane Echo ? Arcane Echo Nether Tempest Nether Tempest

Resonance Icon Resonance is generally the best choice here for dealing with the relatively large amount of AoE packs, but Arcane Echo Icon Arcane Echo is a solid choice to better deal with the mini bosses and final boss.

2.1.5.

Level 40 Talent Row for Arcane Mage in Torghast

Chrono Shift Chrono Shift Ice Ward Ice Ward Ring of Frost Ring of Frost

Chrono Shift Icon Chrono Shift is good for mobility, but if you are planning to run Grisly Icicle Icon Grisly Icicle (or get the Grisly Icicle Icon Grisly Icicle Anima Power) Ice Ward Icon Ice Ward is the better choice.

2.1.6.

Level 45 Talent Row for Arcane Mage in Torghast

Reverberate Reverberate Arcane Orb Arcane Orb Supernova Supernova

Generally Arcane Orb Icon Arcane Orb will be the best choice here as it is both useful for the AoE packs and the mini bosses and final boss. But if you really need more AoE damage you can opt into Reverberate Icon Reverberate.

2.1.7.

Level 50 Talent Row for Arcane Mage in Torghast

Overpowered Overpowered Time Anomaly Time Anomaly Enlightened Enlightened

Both Overpowered Icon Overpowered and Enlightened Icon Enlightened are solid choices here. Overpowered is going to help you more with the final boss, but Enlightened is good overall damage.

Best Arcane Mage Anima Powers

During a Torghast run, you will be getting many different Anima Powers which you have to choose between. Below we have listed the relative strength of the desirable Anima Powers you can obtain on Torghast, so you can go through the list and find the option that is listed the highest when you have to make a decision. For a complete list of Anima Powers, please refer to the following pages.

It is worth noting, that some Anima Powers are not strong on their own, but become extremely potent combined with other Anima Powers. We will highlight this in the list below as well.

Lastly, a lot of Anima Powers let you pick between survivability, mobility, utility and damage. What you pick here largely comes down to personal preference and your playstyle, so do not be afraid to deviate from the list below.

"S" is best and "F" is worst.

3.1.

S-Tier Anima Powers for Arcane Mage

3.2.

A-Tier Anima Powers for Arcane Mage

3.3.

B-Tier Anima Powers for Arcane Mage

3.4.

C-Tier Anima Powers for Arcane Mage

3.5.

D-Tier Anima Powers for Arcane Mage

3.6.

F-Tier Anima Powers for Arcane Mage

4.

Phantasma Anima Powers for Arcane Mage

Occasionally you will be offered the ability to get Phantasma instead of an Anima Power, or increases to your Phantasma generation. It is hard to evaluate these, but we recommend choosing them when there is no "B"-tier or higher alternative Anima Power.

5.

Arcane Mage Playstyle for Torghast, Tower of the Damned

Without any Anima Powers and without running Grisly Icicle Icon Grisly Icicle, Arcane Mage struggles a lot in Torghast. However, there are some very strong Anima Power combinations that can make Torghast a breeze if you get lucky on these powers. Below we will first go over the playstyle without any big Anima Power combinations, and then in the section after that we will go over some combinations that are extremely strong and impact your playstyle significantly.

  • If there are packs with 2 or more ranged / caster enemies, use Polymorph Icon Polymorph on one of them, and quickly nuke the other(s).
  • Constantly use Prismatic Barrier Icon Prismatic Barrier against packs with casters/ranged enemies.
  • Use Frost Nova Icon Frost Nova as much as possible against melee enemies.
  • Shimmer Icon Shimmer is very valuable to kite enemies, so make sure you use it often.
  • Save Time Warp Icon Time Warp for the final boss of a floor.
  • Greater Invisibility Icon Greater Invisibility lets you reset a pack if you pulled too many mobs.
  • Mirror Image Icon Mirror Image will draw aggro from you, so make sure you use it on packs that have a lot of ranged/caster enemies to let them tank for you while you kill off the ranged/caster enemies.
5.1.

Anima Power Playstyle Changes for Arcane Mage

Below we list some Anima Power combinations that greatly change how to approach Torghast and will make it much easier if you follow these playstyle changes.

Art of the Blinkmage Icon Art of the Blinkmage + Clouded Diamond Icon Clouded Diamond: This combination of Anima Powers makes it so your Blink Icon Blink (or Shimmer Icon Shimmer) has no cooldown and places down a Mirror Image Icon Mirror Image. When you have both of these Anima Powers, you should be spamming Shimmer/Blink the entire time to spawn a crazy amount of Mirror Images. You will basically have an endless amount of Mirror Images that will draw aggro for you and damage enemies.
