This guide has been reviewed and approved by Xirips, one of the best Balance Druids in the world, who raids in Method. You can follow him on Twitter and you can watch his stream on Twitch.

1. Best in Slot List

We do not currently provide a Best in Slot list for Balance Druids, but in the sections below you will find set bonus and legendary item recommendations.

2. Tier 20 Set Bonuses

The 2-piece Tier 20 Set Bonus provides a small boost to your damage. It is not outstanding but still alright. The 4-piece Bonus, however, is very strong, and something you want to obtain as soon as possible.

Your ideal set-up will be to use the Tier 20 4-piece Bonus together with the Tier 19 2-piece Bonus, if you have high item level pieces from Nighthold (915-925 item level).

3. Legendary Items

Legendary items have a high item level of 970, which makes them extremely strong. They are so strong, in fact, that a legendary item is always going to be worth equipping over any other item you might have in that slot.

However, there is a limitation on the number of legendary items you can have equipped at any one time (by default 1, but by now most players should be able to equip 2). Since some legendary items are better than others, if you have more items than the limit, you will have to choose which ones to equip.

Below, we will do our best to guide you through this process, as well as provide any other relevant information.

Of the legendaries available to Balance Druids, there are 3 in particular we should be looking out for. We list all legendaries below in order of standalone power.

  1. Impeccable Fel Essence Icon Impeccable Fel Essence: this legendary is currently probably the strongest one you can use. With it, you will be able to use your powerful Celestial Alignment Icon Celestial Alignment/Incarnation: Chosen of Elune Icon Incarnation: Chosen of Elune roughly twice as often.
  2. Soul of the Archdruid Icon Soul of the Archdruid: this is the best legendary item for AoE fights, since you get Soul of the Forest Icon Soul of the Forest for free and can then use Incarnation: Chosen of Elune Icon Incarnation: Chosen of Elune and Soul of the Forest together.
  3. Lady and the Child Icon Lady and the Child: this is excellent on any fight that has cleave damage.
  4. Oneth's Intuition Icon Oneth's Intuition: is the best legendary for dealing AoE damage.
  5. The Emerald Dreamcatcher Icon The Emerald Dreamcatcher: is a strong legendary for pure single target situations, where it is probably your best choice.
  6. Promise of Elune, the Moon Goddess Icon Promise of Elune, the Moon Goddess: is a good choice, especially for single target fights.
  7. Kil'jaeden's Burning Wish Icon Kil'jaeden's Burning Wish: this trinket is decent, helping with burst AoE DPS (which Balance Druids otherwise lack), but it is not an outstanding item.
  8. Cinidaria, the Symbiote Icon Cinidaria, the Symbiote: this is a strong option on fights with lots of adds, but an obviously lackluster option otherwise. It is a small DPS increase at best.
  9. Radiant Moonlight Icon Radiant Moonlight: this legendary provides only a small DPS increase, and it is generally not something you want to get.
  10. Sephuz's Secret Icon Sephuz's Secret: this is the weakest option for DPS, as the effect will quite often be unusable in most encounters.
  11. Ekowraith, Creator of Worlds Icon Ekowraith, Creator of Worlds: this gives us an additional 5% flat damage reduction from Guardian Affinity Icon Guardian Affinity, which is nothing to scoff at.
  12. Prydaz, Xavaric's Magnum Opus Icon Prydaz, Xavaric's Magnum Opus: this is a strong self-shield, provided you have not taken damage in the last 5 seconds.

4. Loot Competition

Regarding the loot you will get from raid or dungeon bosses, you will compete with other classes in the following cases:

Item Type Competing Classes
Tier Tokens Death Knights, Feral/Guardian/Restoration Druids, Mages, and Rogues
Leather Armor Demon Hunters, Feral/Guardian/Restoration Druids, Monks, and Rogues
  • Amulets
  • Cloaks
  • Rings
Everyone
Trinkets Mages, Discipline and Shadow Priests, Elemental Shamans, and Warlocks
