Best Gems for Elemental Shaman in MoP Remix

Gems are one of the unique ways to augment your character in MoP Remix, offering offensive, defensive, and utility benefits. On this page, we list the best gems for each type. To learn more about Gems in MoP Remix in general, check out our dedicated page below.

  • Meta Gem: Lifestorm Icon Lifestorm
  • Cogwheel Gem: Blink Icon Blink
  • Prismatic Gems:

You will have a tremendous amount of stats as you start unlocking all Gem slots. If you want to go for a Fire-focused build with Elemental Blast Icon Elemental Blast  you will likely want to soft-cap your Mastery (7200). Keep in mind most Tinker  Gem effects do not scale with Mastery. Otherwise, a healthy mix of Haste,  Critical Strike and Versatility is recommended, with a priority on Haste.

  • Tinker Gems:
    • Sunstrider's Flourish Icon Sunstrider's Flourish
    • Windweaver Icon Windweaver
    • Enkindle Icon Enkindle
    • Lightning Rod Icon Lightning Rod
    • Wildfire Icon Wildfire
    • Explosive Barrage Icon Explosive Barrage
    • Fervor Icon Fervor
    • Frost Armor Icon Frost Armor
    • Slay Icon Slay
    • Storm Overload Icon Storm Overload
    • Vindication Icon Vindication
    • Brittle Icon Brittle — Mainly for dungeons.
    • Meteor Storm Icon Meteor Storm — if you value the Stun
    • Incendiary Terror Icon Incendiary Terror — if you value the Horrify
    • Cold Front Icon Cold Front — if you value the Slow
    • Ankh of Reincarnation Icon Ankh of Reincarnation
    • Especially during leveling, adjust on the fly depending on personal preference, mainly how defensive you want to go. You can also use "combos" such as Meteor Storm Icon Meteor Storm and Opportunist Icon Opportunist. Keep in mind different Tinker gems scale differently. Notably, the ones granting Shields appear to scale very weakly.

Level by Level Rotation

To keep things simple while leveling and learning the spec, use the slider to select your level, and watch as the leveling rotation grows with each level!

Move the slider below to make the guide update to your level!

Level: 60

Your first talent unlocks at Level 10.

This is an example setup; it is difficult to go wrong while leveling. I would encourage experimenting with the feel of different talents. Note that the value of some talents/talent combos can change significantly depending on your secondary stats. This assumes no particular stat is heavily favored. This guide chooses to skip Icefury Icon Icefury as you already have a lot of buttons, especially if you pick a lot of active talents on the class tree, and Icefury can be overwhelming for newer players. It is a healthy option for leveling. You may want to grab Frost Shock Icon Frost Shock at any point to help with movement and kiting.

  • Level 11 and 12: Get Astral Shift Icon Astral Shift then Astral Bulwark Icon Astral Bulwark on your class tree and Earth Shock Icon Earth Shock on your elemental tree. If you would prefer a higher Astral Shift Icon Astral Shift uptime at the cost of a significantly lower damage reduction, you can spec into either Planes Traveler Icon Planes Traveler instead, or take Wind Shear Icon Wind Shear early to deal with pesky spellcasters.
  • Level 13 to 18: Get Wind Shear Icon Wind Shear then Earth Elemental Icon Earth Elemental and Capacitor Totem Icon Capacitor Totem on your class tree and Fire Elemental Icon Fire Elemental, then Refreshing Waters Icon Refreshing Waters and Lava Surge Icon Lava Surge on your elemental tree.
  • Level 19 to 24: Get Guardian's Cudgel Icon Guardian's Cudgel, Fire and Ice Icon Fire and Ice and Healing Stream Totem Icon Healing Stream Totem from the class tree, then path to Call of Thunder Icon Call of Thunder on the elemental tree, grabbing Inundate Icon Inundate.
  • Level 25 to 34: Get Hex Icon Hex, Nature's Guardian Icon Nature's Guardian and Thunderstorm Icon Thunderstorm from the class tree and Elemental Fury Icon Elemental Fury, then Unrelenting Calamity Icon Unrelenting Calamity, Stormkeeper Icon Stormkeeper, Call of Fire Icon Call of Fire then Echo of the Elements Icon Echo of the Elements.
  • Level 35 to 44 Get Swirling Currents Icon Swirling Currents, Spiritwalker's Grace Icon Spiritwalker's Grace, Brimming with Life Icon Brimming with Life and Nature's Fury Icon Nature's Furyfrom the class tree and Surge of Power Icon Surge of Power, Master of the Elements Icon Master of the Elements then Eye of the Storm Icon Eye of the Storm from the elemental tree.
  • Level 45 to 50: Get Winds of Al'Akir Icon Winds of Al'Akir and Gust of Wind Icon Gust of Wind from the class tree and Focused Insight Icon Focused Insight, Flow of Power Icon Flow of Power and Swelling Maelstrom Icon Swelling Maelstrom from the elemental tree.
  • Choices!: At this level, you can pick Primordial Wave Icon Primordial Wave, Ascendance Icon Ascendance and either Primal Elementalist Icon Primal Elementalist or Liquid Magma Totem Icon Liquid Magma Totem. You may want three of those. Primordial Wave Icon Primordial Wave will help kill spread-out mobs faster and is also a nice single-target boost. The others give you strong DPS cooldowns, although apart from Liquid Magma Totem Icon Liquid Magma Totem, they can be pretty overkill. Alternatively, you could skip 2 of the "choice" talents and a path directly to Windspeaker's Lava Resurgence Icon Windspeaker's Lava Resurgence.
  • Level 51 to 56: Get Ancestral Guidance Icon Ancestral Guidance, Graceful Spirit Icon Graceful Spirit and Surging Shields Icon Surging Shields from the class tree and the 2 previous talents, you did not get to level 51 on the elemental tree.
  • Level 57 to 62: Finish Surging Shields Icon Surging Shields, then get Earth Shield Icon Earth Shield. On the spec tree, grab Magma Chamber Icon Magma Chamber and Windspeaker's Lava Resurgence Icon Windspeaker's Lava Resurgence.
  • Level 63 to 70: Get Elemental Orbit Icon Elemental Orbit, then depending on preferences, any/all of Lightning Lasso Icon Lightning Lasso, Earthgrab Totem Icon Earthgrab Totem Nature's Swiftness Icon Nature's Swiftness, you could also take 2 points into Elemental Warding Icon Elemental Warding, Ancestral Defense Icon Ancestral Defense or Go with the Flow Icon Go with the Flow. There are no wrong options, depending on what you are struggling with. You can also pick any of those earlier during the leveling process; it is largely personal preference, how fast you want to go, whether you take pauses or grind non-stop... The elemental tree picks are also down to preference and what you feel you need more. You can get Oath of the Far Seer Icon Oath of the Far Seer to have a stronger Ascendance Icon Ascendance you can use much more often. You can get Rolling Magma Icon Rolling Magma for more Primordial Wave Icon Primordial Waves along with Primordial Surge Icon Primordial Surge for more single-target (generally overkill), or Splintered Elements Icon Splintered Elements if you also use Liquid Magma Totem Icon Liquid Magma Totem if you do big pulls, Searing Flames Icon Searing Flames to get more Earth Shock Icon Earth Shocks, Flames of the Cauldron Icon Flames of the Cauldron and Improved Flametongue Weapon Icon Improved Flametongue Weapon for some basic damage increases. I even skip Ascendance Icon Ascendance for those, as I feel it is overkill for leveling.
