General Information

On this page, you will find tips, tricks, and strategies tailored to your Subtlety Rogue for each boss of the following raid: Amirdrassil. All our content is updated for World of Warcraft — Season 4.

1.

Introduction

Below, you can find class and spec-specific advice for every fight in Amirdrassil. If you are looking for a general overview of the Raid that is not spec-specific, check out our dedicated Amirdrassil, the Dream's Hope guides.

On this page, you will find tips and tricks specifically tailored toward Subtlety Rogues and its toolkit based on the recommended talent build. It does not include general tips for mechanics, which are included in the full raid guide instead, whereas this page assumes that you are already familiar with most of the major mechanics of each encounter.

Note: The following recommendations are based on preliminary PTR tests, and may have changed since the raid hit live. The information to be gained from PTR testing is typically very limited, but as the raid releases, you will be able to find more tips and tricks on this page for each of the bosses.

Talent Builds By Boss

Dragonflight Raid Talent Builds for Subtlety Rogue

Pure Single Target Build Sustained AoE Build
3.

Single Target and Cleave

The build above is your general single target talent tree. Note there is an Invigorating Shadowdust Icon Invigorating Shadowdust build that can be better for boss fights with damage amps by allowing you to fit more cooldowns into shorter windows. For more information, I would recommend visiting Ravenholdt.

Be sure to make use of the 'Copy Export String' button to import the build directly into your game!

4.

Sporadic Adds

This build simply swaps in Shuriken Tornado Icon Shuriken Tornado to help with AoE and Cleave. The Single Target focused build already plays the most useful cleave talent that Subtlety has (Replicating Shadows Icon Replicating Shadows) and this build also includes The First Dance Icon The First Dance to for a slight bump in low (2-3 target) cleave situations. With Black Powder Icon Black Powder being baseline, AoE is no longer a concern for Subtlety moving forward.

5.

Gnarlroot

5.1.

Talents/Build

This is an add control and burst phase boss. Which talent set you pick is up to you, and which side of the boss your particular group will need more assistance with. The Cleave build is likely recommended. Depending on how difficult the adds in P1 are to deal with, the AoE build might be viable here. It remains to be seen whether it is worth committing cooldowns for the AoE phase of the boss, or to hold onto all cooldowns for the boss burst, especially as Subtlety Rogue sports one of the highest bursts in the game.

More thorough suggestions and recommendations will come as the raid opens, and strategies form.

5.2.

Tips

More tips will be added as strategies emerge, and the author gets hands-on knowledge and experience.

For more information, please refer to our Gnarlroot guide.

6.

Igira the Cruel

6.1.

Talents/Build

This is functionally a single-target fight. The spears are too far apart to be within cleave or melee range.

6.2.

Tips

Use Feint Icon Feint or Cloak of Shadows Icon Cloak of Shadows to mitigate the damage from Blistering Spear Icon Blistering Spear.

It was possible to Shadowstep Icon Shadowstep to a friendly player to break the Blistering Spear Icon Blistering Spear tether effect, but this may no longer work on live servers.

More tips will be added as strategies emerge, and the author gets hands-on knowledge and experience.

For more information, please refer to our Igira guide.

7.

Volcoross

7.1.

Talents/Build

Single-target.

7.2.

Tips

The direction of the knockback effect Flood of the Firelands Icon Flood of the Firelands is based on your position towards the center of the soak circle. Positioning yourself accordingly allows you to control the knockback direction. You can also use Shadowstep Icon Shadowstep on another player to immediately cancel the knockback effect.

This is a fairly straightforward boss with no additional spec-specific tips (yet).

For more information, please refer to our Volcoross guide.

8.

Council of Dreams

8.1.

Talents/Build

This is a pure 2-target cleave situation for melee, so make sure you spec into Replicating Shadows Icon Replicating Shadows

8.2.

Tips

There seems to be very little spec-specific interactions for this fight.

Council is a cleave fight, and cleave fights are typically where Subtlety struggles. The best you can do to combat this shortcoming is making sure you have Replicating Shadows talented.

Make sure to prepare for having to soak Barreling Charge Icon Barreling Charge. Feint Icon Feint should work wonders here.

For more information, please refer to our Council of Dreams guide.

9.

Larodar, Keeper of the Flame

9.1.

Talents/Build

We highly recommend the cleave build on this encounter.

9.2.

Tips

Optimizing DPS for this fight will heavily rely on the boss-timers. Unfortunately, during the PTR testing, the adds died way too quickly, making it impossible to give any concrete suggestions. We will update the guide once the boss has been available on live servers.

Rogue is a great class to soak the Blazing Coalescence Icon Blazing Coalescence orbs, as we benefit greatly from the increased crit-chance, while also being able to dispel ourselves using Cloak of Shadows Icon Cloak of Shadows. Thanks to our 100% movement speed sprint, we should be one of the go-to assignments for soaking on Larodar.

Make sure to have Feint Icon Feint ready for Raging Inferno Icon Raging Inferno..

For more information, please refer to our Larodar guide.

10.

Nymue, Weaver of the Cycle

10.1.

Talents/Build

This is a pure single-target encounter.

10.2.

Tips

Crossing the lines of the Verdant Matrix Icon Verdant Matrix can be done by using Shadowstep Icon Shadowstep on a friendly target on the other side.

Yyou can also Shadowstep Icon Shadowstep over Impending Loom Icon Impending Loom beams; just make sure you do not land on a Verdant Matrix Icon Verdant Matrix line.

For more information, please refer to our Nymue guide.

11.

Smolderon

11.1.

Talents/Build

Another pure single-target encounter.

11.2.

Tips

Depending on how the encounter has changed, you might still be able to Cloak of Shadows Icon Cloak of Shadows the Cauterizing Wound Icon Cauterizing Wound debuff yourself. If Cloak does not work; remember that both Crimson Vial and Health Potions can help trigger the debuff on demand, if the absorb shield is already low enough.

During the intermission, you gain a 100% damage increase after soaking all five orbs of Devour Essence Icon Devour Essence. Depending on the final timers of this mechanic, it might be worth saving cooldowns for a damage amplification phase.

For more information, please refer to our Smolderon guide.

12.

Tindral Sageswift, Seer of the Flame

12.1.

Talents/Build

Recommend playing the pure ST build for this fight, with Black Powder Icon Black Powder baseline and Secret Technique Icon Secret Technique naturally cleaving there's not much more you would need to bring to deal with the roots. Note for Mythic: It is highly recommended you take Shuriken Tornado as root damage ends up being more important in Mythic, and will be much appreciated for the last phase.

12.2.

Tips

Using Shadowstep Icon Shadowstep on the Mass Entanglement Icon Mass Entanglement is possible, but beware that on Mythic difficulty, it will spawn an add.

Make sure to have your cooldowns available for the intermission phases. The trickiest part of playing Subtlety Rogue on Tindral is ensuring the timings of your cooldown usage to ensure you have all your cooldowns up for the intermission shields. Soon this, and other bosses will be updated with timelines of when to time your vanishes for maximum damage opportunities.

For more information, please refer to our Tindral guide.

13.

Fyrakk the Blazing

This fight was not available for testing on the PTR. Tips will be added as strategies emerge, and the author gets hands-on knowledge and experience.

For more information, please refer to our Fyrakk guide.
