Evoker Hero Talents — The War Within (11.2)
This guide will walk you through the best Hero Talents for Augmentation Evoker for Raiding and Mythic+, how they impact your gameplay, and more.
Best Hero Talents for Augmentation Evoker in The War Within
This page is specifically about Hero Talents in The War Within. If you want to learn more about the best regular talents for Augmentation Evoker, check out our Talents page:
Scalecommander Hero Talents
Scalecommander is the go to Hero Talent if you want to fire and
forget or play content with less than 4 DPS to buff.
Scalecommander
has less cooldown syncing and tracking requirements than
Chronowarden but has slightly higher personal gameplay
requirements.
Scalecommander is currently our default recommendation for all
content due to the more consistent output provided.
Scalecommander is at most 3-4% behind
Chronowarden in
raids when
Chronowarden is played perfectly with ideal allies and
is ahead always in Mythic+. As it is so hard to find allies that will play
close to that level even in high performing Mythic raiding guilds we
strongly suggest playing
Scalecommander even if there is a small
theoretical loss. Although, if you like
Chronowarden it is still
very strong.
Scalecommander is less adversely affected by allies performance
since it is not as reliant on their throughput to be effective which is very
useful in content where you cannot guarantee your teammates performance
(Such as Pugging Raids or Mythic+). Additionally,
Scalecommander
is slightly stronger comparatively (1-2%) before BiS gear due to the power
of running the old Season 2 2pc.
For Raiding Scalecommander will perform even better than
Chronowarden if you do not have the Mastery stacked gear that
Chronowarden prefers (such as having a set of Devastation Evoker
gear) or have weaker allies.
Scalecommander does significantly more personal damage than
Chronowarden which is the main reason it is less reliant on the
damage your allies are dealing with a very large amount of that damage
coming from the Season 3 Tier Set.
Scalecommander presses
Breath of Eons nearly on cooldown to
maximise the effects of
Melt Armor,
Imminent Destruction and
Plot the Future. The increase to personal damage provided by all of these
talents mostly outweighs timing
Breath of Eons to DPS cooldowns although
ideally you still loosely sync it. On single target you will get close to a 80
second cooldown on
Breath of Eons and on AoE it can be as low as 60s
because of
Wingleader granting more cooldown reduction with additional
targets.
With the Season 3 Tier Set Scalecommander can either opt in to
playing
Motes of Possibility and invest in Mastery for stronger
Shifting Sands or play
Molten Embers and invest primarily
into Haste and Critical Strike Chance to maximise its personal damage.
The Dracthyr Commandos from the Season 3 Tier Set scale with Critical Strike Chance and Versatility but do not scale with Haste or Mastery.
The Evoker Scalecommander 11.2 Class Set 2pc will launch a Pyre per
Dracthyr Commando approximately every 0.5 seconds (unhasted) you spend in
the Air, with one launched immediately. They will shoot a maximum of 4 Pyres
each for a total of 8. After you land from
Breath of Eons they will
start casting Disintegrate with one being cast approximately every 3 seconds
(unhasted).
Currently using the Evoker Scalecommander 11.2 Class Set 2pc alongside the
Evoker Augmentation 11.1 Class Set 2pc is a significant DPS gain for AOE
despite losing ilvl as the
Evoker Scalecommander 11.2 Class Set 4pc is very weak on AOE. This is approximately a 4% DPS gain on 5T (684 Season 2 Tier vs 723 Season 3 Tier) and a slight DPS loss on ST (~0.5-1%).
Chronowarden Hero Talents
Chronowarden is an alternative Hero Talent for Raiding but is
significantly weaker for Mythic+. This tree has a larger focus on planning and
strategic play with its buffs. This is completely viable in Raid for players
who want a more buff focused gameplan and has a slightly higher damage Ceiling than
Scalecommander.
A large part of Chronowarden is
Double-time which
increases the strength of
Ebon Might. This makes it slightly
weaker in Mythic+ where you do not have 4 DPS.
Chronowarden buffs abilities you are already using such as
Upheaval and
Living Flame and provides a lot of haste
passively to you via
Primacy and
Temporal Burst making
your rotation feel more fluid.
You also get a powerful movement upgrade with Warp and a defensive
boon attached from
Temporality.
The Evoker Chronowarden 11.2 Class Set 2pc halves the cooldown on
Tip the Scales which massively increases the uptime of
Temporal Burst. The higher uptime of
Temporal Burst results
gives you more CDR which leads you to playing
Time Skip instead of
Interwoven Threads as it allows you to get a breakpoint in CDR for
Breath of Eons. By using abilities on Cooldown you will get two 90s
CD
Breath of Eons uses and then one 120s CD
Breath of Eons
before the cycle resets. For example, this would be a
Breath of Eons
cast at approximately 3s, 93s, 183s, 303s, 393s, 483s, 603s.
The high uptime of Temporal Burst with the
Evoker Chronowarden 11.2 Class Set 2pc also massively increases the power
of
Master of Destiny making it the default pick for all content.
The high average haste provided by Temporal Burst with the
Evoker Chronowarden 11.2 Class Set 2pc makes
Motes of Possibility even
stronger as you can cast more
Eruptions every minute which in turn
makes Mastery better. This leads to Mastery being Chronowardens best stat to
stack. This is further amplified by the
Evoker Chronowarden 11.2 Class Set 4pc which causes
Chrono Flame to
shoot to multiple targets during
Temporal Burst. This effect works just
like
Leaping Flames where if there are not enough valid enemy targets it
will instead heal an ally instead. When these heal an ally they can still roll
to proc an
Essence Burst if they do effective healing.
With the Evoker Chronowarden 11.2 Class Set 4pc on 2T or higher you will
proritise using
Chrono Flame over casting
Eruption during
Temporal Burst if you do not have an
Essence Burst up.

Hero Talents Rotation for Augmentation Evoker
Chronowarden has only minor impacts on your rotation although the
stat gains from
Primacy and
Temporal Burst feel really
good. As a
Chronowarden you will be using
Tip the Scales
more frequently, and using it on
Fire Breath always despite
Molten Embers incentivising longer lasting
Fire Breaths.
The Season 3 Tier Set has a larger impact on your Rotation as discussed above
in the main Chronowarden section.
Scalecommander has a large impact on your rotation as you get
access to
Breath of Eons more frequently. Furthermore, since the cooldown
reduction provided by
Wingleader is so important maintaining as high
uptime on
Bombardments becomes a large part of the rotational gameplay
adding extra nuance to the rotation to make it more interesting to play.
