Fury Warrior Essences — Battle for Azeroth (BfA) 8.2
On this page, we go over the new Essence system in Patch 8.2 of World of Warcraft — Battle for Azeroth, and we tell you which are the best essences to use as Fury Warrior, both for minor and major powers. Please refer to our Patch 8.2 Guide to Essences for more information about the Essence system and where Essences can be obtained from.
1. Azerite Essences for Fury Warriors
Introduced in Patch 8.2, Essences are unique items that drop from various forms of content. They are activated through your Heart of Azeroth, and they buff your character in various ways, depending on the Essences that are currently active.
Our Essence Guide has a full list of all the Essences, together with their descriptions and explanations on how they work.
What follows on this page will relate directly to how Essences affect this spec, since generic information is beyond the scope of this guide.
Disclaimer: Please note that at the moment, simulations and general theorycrafting around Essences is a work in progress, and as a result, most of the recommendations made here are subject to change.
2. Notable Essences for Fury Warriors
Condensed Life-Force adds a very powerful 3-minute cooldown which lines up nicely with Recklessness. The summoned Guardian of Azeroth contributes a good deal of damage, typically around 5% of your total output over the course of an encounter, and also continually triggers the minor effect Azerite Spike, which increases the targets damage taken by 5%. This makes it both one of the most powerful single-target Essences in terms of total throughput and a very good choice when dealing with DPS checks, such as the Lady Jaina Proudmoore's Ice Wall in Battle for Dazar'alor.
Memory of Lucid Dreams synergizes extremely well with the Warrior class, granting additional Rage which directly translates into damage done. While active, the major power actually multiplies with Recklessness, causing abilities to generate four times the normal amount of Rage, and the minor power can allow to you to cast Rampage back to back whenever it procs. The increased Rage generation allows for much more frequent Rampage casts, enhancing the value of Anger Management, which in turn allows Recklessness to line up better with the Essence ability. This interaction is strong against both single and multiple targets and competes very well with Condensed Life-Force.
Essence of the Focusing Iris is the best burst AoE Essence, although it can be tricky to use. Because of the cast time and channel, it will stall your normal rotation, but used smartly before engaging a group of stacked up targets, the major power can deal an enormous amount of damage on a relatively moderate cooldown. Conversely, the minor power is single target focused, which lends this Essence to being used to burn down adds while focusing a single major target.
Vision of Perfection is a fun, although slightly underpowered, Essence which both reduces the cooldown of and triggers a short duration Recklessness, similar to Unbridled Ferocity, and while Reckless Abandon is talented, each proc will also generate 35 Rage. While it does not excel in any particular area, it is completely passive, making it easy to use and well suited to all kinds of content.
