Remix: Legion Guide for Blood Death Knight
Welcome to our Legion Remix Guide for Blood Death Knight! Here we will cover everything you need to know about getting the most out of your Blood Death Knight in the Patch 11.2.5 special feature, Legion: Remix.
This page is entirely dedicated to playing Blood Death Knight in the new event. If you want to know more about Legion Remix in general, for example how it works and what rewards you can earn, you can check out our dedicated Legion Remix page!
Which Artifact Path to Pick as Blood Death Knight?
In Legion Remix you will have to pick one of five paths in your Artifact Weapon
to spend your Infinite Power on. These five trees each have their own unique
active ability as well as multiple passives that increase your damage, healing, or
survivability. Below are a few recommendations depending on your playstyle,
but keep in mind that experimentation and playing around with the different themes
and passive is half the fun of this temporary game-mode. Picking your favorite choice
based on theme and visuals is perfectly valid!
For Single Target: The Fel artifact path offers a large amount of single target
perks, along with controllable AoE burst from Felspike.
For AoE: The Storm artifact path offers a very large amount of benefits that scale
directly or indirectly in AoE - from Thunderstruck to
Storm Surger or even
Terror From Below, these effects provide a
very dynamic gameplay loop.
For Fun: The Arcane tree provides a lot of skill-based gameplay stemming from
Naran's Everdisc and the possibility to trigger all perks associated to it
multiple times. It also deals reactive damage through
Temporal Retaliation and
provides a large absorb shield when moving backwards or standing still.
You can buff your artifact further with traits present on Jewelry and Trinkets,
and we have one specific recommendation for this: if you do not play the Fel tree, play at least
one Touch of Malice in order to be able to apply Fel-touched to enemies. This is because
both the Storm and Arcane effects are significantly buffed when hitting Fel-touched enemies.
In practice, the best traits to acquire are generally Touch of Malice,
Terror From Below
or
Storm Surger (for the damage, not the cast-while-moving aspect. You should track this if you play it)
When Remix properly launches and initial hotfixes roll in, we will substantially expand this section to provide thorough quantitative recommendations. The reason for this disclaimer is that one tree (and specifically two nodes in it) appear to be massively better than the alternatives.
Best Legion Remix Leveling Talents for Blood Death Knight
Below you will find our recommended leveling build and talent pickup order for your Blood Death Knight in Legion Remix. Depending on how you choose to level up you will want to make some changes, i.e. if you decide to just do a variety of quests, or want to mostly level in dungeons, so we have listed builds for all activities.
Please keep in mind that this Leveling section is specific to Legion Remix. For our The War Within Leveling Guide for Blood Death Knight, you can head to the page below.
Best Legion Remix Leveling Build for Blood Death Knight
Open World and Questing Build
We generally recommend a simple Deathbringer build for general
open-world and questing, as the added complexity centered around
San'layn's
reliance on
Dancing Rune Weapon is prohibitive outside of instanced content.
This build is very simple: gather, hit
Reaper's Mark, do damage and get
Exterminate procs as a bonus!
Be sure to make use of the 'Export Talents' button to import these talents directly into your game!
Dungeon and Mythic+ Build
Since Legion Remix uses Patch 11.2 balance but prevents the use of tier sets,
the two empowered Exterminate procs that would normally be available to
Deathbringer are missing, while the value of
San'layn is virtually
untouched. Even more than on Retail, we recommend getting familiar with
San'layn and
playing it essentially everywhere in Legion Remix. This is even more true in Mythic+ as
every dungeon except one (Halls of Valor) allows you to consistently go from pack to
pack with ease.
Most of this build's throughput is tied to Dancing Rune Weapon, and as such,
you have to make sure you can stay on a target during it. Beyond that, it deals
extremely potent single-target damage, all while retaining all of the defensive
value the base spec brings.

Leveling Rotation for Blood Death Knight
Since Legion Remix is the perfect opportunity to level classes you haven't played before, we wanted to keep things as simple as possible for those learning the spec. Simply use the slider to select your level to learn a little bit more about how and when to use the abilities you just unlocked.
Move the slider below to make the guide update to your level!
When using our slider, note that some talents may appear sooner than you expect them to in the rotation. This is due to the differences in the recommended builds above, each taking talents at slightly different times, and sometimes entirely different talents.
- Use
Death and Decay where you intend to fight; your goal is to keep both you and your enemies in it for as long as possible. Cast it on cooldown, but do not overlap them!
- If
Reaper's Mark is not on your target, apply it in the following priority order:
- Casting
Marrowrend if
Reaper's Mark has recently detonated and you have remaining charges of it.
- Casting
Reaper's Mark on the target on cooldown.
- Casting
- Use
Dancing Rune Weapon on cooldown as long. You should aim to be below 7
Bone Shield charges when you cast this, but it is better to just send it.
- Use
Tombstone when you have at least 6
Bone Shield charges, you are within your own
Death and Decay and
Dancing Rune Weapon still is on cooldown.
- Use
Bonestorm when you have at least 6
Bone Shield charges, you are within your own
Death and Decay and
Dancing Rune Weapon still is on cooldown.
- Use
Consumption. If
Dancing Rune Weapon is about to become available, wait until it is available and use it as your first GCD in
Dancing Rune Weapon instead.
- Use
Marrowrend (or
Death's Caress if you are out of melee range) if your
Bone Shield is about to expire.
- Use
Death Strike if your health is low or if you are above 75 Runic Power.
- Use
Soul Reaper if your target is below 35% and will live for 5 seconds.
- Use
Blood Boil if any nearby enemies do not have your
Blood Plague disease, or you are close to having 2 charges of
Blood Boil.
- Use
Marrowrend if you have 6 or fewer stacks of
Bone Shield.
- Use
Heart Strike if you have 2 or more Runes.
- Use
Blood Boil.
