Which Artifact Path to Pick as Holy Priest?
During this event you will have five paths to spend your Infinite Power
on to empower your Artifact Weapon. These five trees each have their own unique
active ability as well as multiple passives that increase your damage, healing, or
survivability. Below are a few recommendations depending on your playstyle,
but keep in mind that experimentation and playing around with the different themes
and passive is half the fun of this temporary game-mode. Picking your favorite choice
based on theme and visuals is perfectly valid!
For Solo Players: When starting out, playing with Arcane or Nature trees will give the best mix of survivability and damage output. Once you team up with others in group content consider swapping to Storm or Holy for more healing throughput.
For Duo-ing: When teaming up with one other player, having a combination of Fel and either Storm or Arcane works best. The player talenting into the Fel tree will apply Fel Touched to enemies, while the Arcane and Storm damage deals increased damage against Fel Touched enemies, something you cannot benefit from by yourself.
For Group Play: When doing 5-man dungeons, Storm is our preferred choice that gives us move while casting effects stacking Haste and Movement speed. This is the ideal speed run setup that offers great damage potential. You may find early on that you need the additional healing, in which case temporarily swap to Holy.
Here's a quick overview of each of the trees:
- Holy: This tree is more focused around healing procs which can be useful in earlier content or progression if you are lacking healing or survivability. This is the most hybrid choice to pick if you are looking to ride the line between healing and DPS throughput.
- Storm: This is the go-to choice for Holy Priests due to the passive
ability of being able to cast while moving. The active ability
Tempest Wrath deals damage in a circle around you, and each target hit will increase the damage further. As you add more points into the tree you also gain stacking Haste bonuses.
- Nature: This tree offers strong damage procs, while the active
ability
Call of the Forest shields you as well as giving you a bonus to casting speed. The passives in the tree provide enhance your survivability and also grant you more cooldown reduction and extra resource generation, ideal for early solo leveling and gearing.
- Fel: This is a purely damage-focused tree, allowing you to summon a
Dreadlord with
Twisted Crusade that will summon a Rain of Fire to deal damage in an area. With the capstone you can re-use this ability for a massive amount of AoE burst around the Dreadlords location.
- Arcane: This tree mixes survivability and DPS, but only if you can
stand still in combat. It's active ability,
Naran's Everdisc, deals massive AoE damage to targets in front of you, and you can benefit from this up to 3 times if you catch the orb as it returns to you.

Please keep in mind that this Leveling section is specific to Legion Remix. For our The War Within Leveling Guide for Holy Priest, you can head to the page below.
Best Legion Remix Leveling Build for Holy Priest
Open World and Questing Build
This build assumes you are spending a lot of time questing or just farming regular enemies in open world content.
Dungeon and Mythic+ Build
This build is intended for dungeons and Mythic+, prioritizing AoE damage and healing over single-target.
Raid and Bossing Build
This build is intended for raid-content or when fighting particularly threatening bosses or rare mobs out in the open world, especially on Heroic World Tier. It focuses on group-wide healing while also providing strong single-target damage.
Leveling Rotation for Holy Priest
Since Legion Remix is the perfect opportunity to level classes you haven't played before, we wanted to keep things as simple as possible for those learning the spec. Simply use the slider to select your level to learn a little bit more about how and when to use the abilities you just unlocked.
Move the slider below to make the guide update to your level!
While Holy Priest is more than capable of levelling, Priests generally, level as Shadow as it provides superior damage, significantly speeding up the questing process. That said, when venturing into Dungeons and PVP Battlegrounds, Holy Priest, is a fun change of pace and does a great job at keeping your allies alive.
When using our slider, note that some talents may appear sooner than you expect them to in the rotation. This is due to the differences in the recommended builds above, each taking talents at slightly different times, and sometimes entirely different talents.
Damage Rotation to Level Up as a Holy Priest
Starting at Level 1, you only have Smite, so
just spam this for now.
- From level 59 onwards
Holy Word: Chastise is a high priority thanks to the
Divine Image and
Voice of Harmony talents encouraging you to press it before anything else.
- Starting with level 12,
Mind Blast is replaced with
Holy Fire, which becomes your highest priority damage spell to cast both single target and in AoE thanks to
Burning Vehemence.
Halo will only damage enemies you are in combat with, so don't worry about it hitting enemies you aren't fighting.
Holy Nova is your first and only spammable AoE spell, which takes over as your priority for 3 or more enemies.
Shadow Word: Pain is your first damage over time spell. This should be put up on nearly every mob you fight and can be very helpful for tagging enemies quickly or grouping them up.
- At 15 you get
Holy Word: Chastise, which hits reasonably hard but also disorients the target. Its cooldown is reduced by casting
Smite, so despite it having a 1-minute cooldown, you will often be able to cast it much sooner.
Mind Blast is a hard-hitting single target spell you should pre-pull with and use on cooldown.
Apotheosis is available at level 51. When cast, this talent provides you with increased cooldown reduction applied to
Holy Word: Chastise when casting
Smite.
Power Infusion is another major cooldown added to your kit you should use to squeeze out more damage when needed.
Most of the time, while questing, you will be grouping numerous enemies up using
Shadow Word: Pain and then using AoE spells to kill them all together. Use
Psychic Scream to fear mobs
away if you ever pull too much or need to get away from enemies.
At level 6, you learn Power Word: Fortitude; make sure you keep this buff up on yourself
and allies at all times.
Healing Rotation to Level Up as a Holy Priest
Once you reach level 15, you will be able to queue for dungeons. This route is most suited for a healing spec like Holy Priest. It is suggested if you plan on questing through your levels, you will find it much faster to spec Shadow for most or all of your leveling journey. To get a full understanding of the complete kit and how to fully utilize it, have a look at our rotation page. A summary of our casting priority can also be found below:
Holy Word: Serenity on an injured ally.
Holy Word: Sanctify when most of your group is injured.
Flash Heal for emergency healing.
Halo when most of your group is injured.
Flash Heal for regular healing.
Heal for regular healing, utilizing
Trail of Light to heal multiple allies.
Prayer of Mending when little healing is required.
Renew while moving and healing is required.
Smite an enemy when no healing is required.
