Which Artifact Path to Pick as Restoration Druid?
During this event you will have five paths to spend your Infinite Power
on to empower your Artifact Weapon. These five trees each have their own unique
active ability as well as multiple passives that increase your damage, healing, or
survivability. Below are a few recommendations depending on your playstyle,
but keep in mind that experimentation and playing around with the different themes
and passive is half the fun of this temporary game-mode. Picking your favorite choice
based on theme and visuals is perfectly valid!
For Solo Players: When starting out, playing with Fel tree will give the most damage output. Once you team up with others in group content consider swapping to Storm or Holy for more healing throughput.
For Group Play: When doing duo or 5-man dungeons, Storm is our preferred choice that gives you move while casting effects stacking Haste and Movement speed. This is the ideal speed run setup that offers great damage potential. You may find early on that you need the additional healing, in which case temporarily swap to Holy.
Here's a quick overview of each of the trees:
- Holy: This tree is more focused around healing procs which can be useful in earlier content or progression if you are lacking healing or survivability. This is the most hybrid choice to pick if you are looking to ride the line between healing and DPS throughput.
- Storm: This is not that good of a choice for
Restoration Druid, because some of the bonuses (like casting on the move) do nothing.
The active ability
Tempest Wrath deals damage in a circle around you, and each target hit will increase the damage further. As you add more points into the tree you also gain stacking Haste bonuses.
- Nature: This tree offers strong damage procs, while the active
ability
Call of the Forest shields you as well as giving you a bonus to casting speed. The passives in the tree provide enhance your survivability and also grant you more cooldown reduction and extra resource generation. We do benefit much from any of this.
- Fel: This is a purely damage-focused tree, allowing you to summon a
Dreadlord with
Twisted Crusade that will summon a Rain of Fire to deal damage in an area. With the capstone you can re-use this ability for a massive amount of AoE burst around the Dreadlords location. This is currently the highest damage path.
- Arcane: This tree mixes survivability and DPS, but only if you can
stand still in combat. It's active ability,
Naran's Everdisc, deals massive AoE damage to targets in front of you, and you can benefit from this up to 3 times if you catch the orb as it returns to you.

Damage Rotation to Level Up as a Restoration Druid
Starting at Level 1, you only have one main
attack ability: Wrath.
Convoke the Spirits is a great spell to damage an enemy and heal your group quickly.
Moonfire is a great damage over time spell that you should use against any enemy you are fighting.
Ferocious Bite deals damage based on the amount of combo points spent. The damage is increased further for each Energy point used beyond 25, up to 25 extra.
- Use
Rip instead of Ferocious Bite if you expect the enemy to live long enough for the DoT to do all the damage.
- You gain your first talent point, spend it on
Rake. Use Rake and Moonfire to DoT up multiple enemies.
Cat Form. You move 30% faster in Cat Form. This also unlocks
Shred, a single target attack only usable in Cat Form and awards 1 Combo Point.
Healing Rotation to Level Up as a Restoration Druid
Once you reach level 15, you will be able to queue for dungeons. This route is most suited for a healing spec like Restoration Druid. It is suggested if you plan on questing through your levels, to spec Balance or Feral for most or all of leveling. To get a full understanding of the complete kit and how to fully utilize it, have a look at our rotation page. A summary of our casting priority can also be found below:
- Keep
Lifebloom up.
- Keep
Efflorescence under your melee.
- Use
Cenarion Ward on cooldown.
- Use
Grove Guardians often. Do not sit on three charges.
- Use
Swiftmend as often as possible.
- Use
Wild Growth for any group damage.
- Keep
Rejuvenation on an active tank and any players that are taking damage.
- Use
Regrowth as an emergency heal.
