Remix: Legion Guide for Brewmaster Monk
Welcome to our Legion Remix Guide for Brewmaster Monk! Here we will cover everything you need to know about getting the most out of your Brewmaster Monk in the Patch 11.2.5 special feature, Legion: Remix.
This page is entirely dedicated to playing Brewmaster Monk in the new event. If you want to know more about Legion Remix in general, for example how it works and what rewards you can earn, you can check out our dedicated Legion Remix page!
Which Artifact Path to Pick as Brewmaster Monk?
In Legion Remix you will have to pick one of five paths in your Artifact Weapon
to spend your Infinite Power on. These five trees each have their own unique
active ability as well as multiple passives that increase your damage, healing, or
survivability. Below are a few recommendations depending on your playstyle,
but keep in mind that experimentation and playing around with the different themes
and passive is half the fun of this time-limited mode. Picking your favorite choice
based on theme and visuals is perfectly valid!
For Solo Players: We recommend playing with the Fel tree across most types of content. As a tank specialization, your natural sturdiness will make the defensive bonuses of other trees largely unnecessary compared to the additional damage offered by this choice.
For Duo-ing: When teaming up with one other player, having a combination of Fel and Storm creates extra synergy in the effects of both trees. Due to being a tank, you will likely default to being the Fel half of this pairing for stronger priority target damage.
For Group Play: When doing 5-man dungeons, Storm is likely your best option due to its larger AoE potential, while Fel offers great single-target damage boosts for raid encounters or damage against an important target.
Here's a quick overview of each of the trees available to you in Legion Remix:
- Fel: This is a purely damage-focused tree, allowing you to summon a Dreadlord with
Twisted Crusade that will summon a Rain of Fire to deal damage in an area. With the capstone you can re-use this ability for a massive amount of AoE burst around the Dreadlord's location.
- Storm: The likely go-to choice for
casters due to featuring the passive ability of being able to cast while moving,
this tree can still prove useful for a Brewmaster. The active ability
Tempest Wrath deals damage in a circle around you, and each target hit will increase the damage further. Essentially, this ability is what
Rushing Jade Wind wishes it could be in terms of power.
- Nature: This tree offers strong damage procs, while the active ability
Call of the Forest shields you as well as dealing moderate AoE damage to targets in front of you. The passives in the tree provide good damage and survivability, making it an excellent choice when you need greater defensive power.
- Arcane: This tree mixes survivability and DPS, but only if you can stand still
in combat. Its active ability,
Naran's Everdisc, deals massive AoE damage to targets in front of you, and you can benefit from this up to 3 times if you catch the orb as it returns to you.
- Holy: This tree is a bit more healing-oriented,
but can be surprisingly useful in early Heroic World Tier progression if you are
playing solo or are undergeared. Its active ability of
Vindicator's Judgment will deal massive AoE damage and healing, while its passives will provide regular procs of healing to yourself or party members if you team up with other players.
Best Legion Remix Leveling Talents for Brewmaster Monk
Below you will find our recommended leveling build and talent pickup order for your Brewmaster Monk in Legion Remix. Depending on how you choose to level up you will want to make some changes, i.e. if you decide to just do a variety of quests, or want to mostly level in dungeons, so we have listed builds for all activities.
Due to Legion Remix featuring alternative gearing and infinitely scaling power,
there will likely be some variance compared to our traditional talent builds.
In particular, a lack of tier set bonuses means that the Shado-Pan Hero
Talents will likely be your default choice across all content, though the
Master of Harmony tree will certainly remain viable if you prefer it.
Beyond this, you may find yourself drawn to the
Breath of Fire talent and
its supporting nodes of
Sal'salabim's Strength and
Charred Passions
to gain an additional source of periodic damage that can help trigger artifact traits.
If doing so, consider avoiding
Rushing Jade Wind and instead using
Special Delivery to keep the rotation from feeling too bloated.
As a final reminder, bear in mind that this Leveling section is specific to Legion Remix. For our The War Within Leveling Guide for Brewmaster Monk, you can head to the page below.
Best Legion Remix Leveling Build for Brewmaster Monk
Open World and Questing Build
This build assumes you are spending a lot of time questing or just farming
regular enemies in open world content. It represents your most "general" leveling
build, but can be used across all types of content as well, if necessary. Should
you need a bit more active control over your health in the Heroic World Tier,
consider switching Niuzao's Resolve for
Zen State to turn your
Gift of the Ox spheres into a more immediate heal that can be taken advantage
of with
Expel Harm.
Dungeon and Mythic+ Build
This build is intended for dungeons and Mythic+, prioritizing AoE damage over single-target.
Raid and Bossing Build
This build is intended for raid-content or when fighting particularly threatening
bosses or rare mobs out in the open world, especially on Heroic World Tier. It focuses
entirely on single-target DPS, and opts into Breath of Fire along with its
supporting talents in case you have any artifact traits chosen or present on your
jewelry that interact with DoT effects.
Leveling Rotation for Brewmaster Monk
Since Legion Remix is the perfect opportunity to level classes you haven't played before, we've aimed to keep things as simple as possible for those learning the spec. Simply use the slider to select your level to learn a little bit more about how and when to use the abilities you just unlocked.
Move the slider below to make the guide update to your level!
When using our slider, note that some talents may appear at times other than you might expect them to in the rotation. This is due to the differences in the recommended builds above, each taking talents at slightly different times, and sometimes entirely different talents.
From Level 1, your lone ability is
Tiger Palm.
- (Optional): Tag an enemy with
Crackling Jade Lightning to have it move toward you, provided you immediately cancel the ability after casting.
- (Optional): Use
Provoke to force an enemy to run to you or briefly "tag" them with
Crackling Jade Lightning, provided you immediately cancel its cast afterward.
- (Optional): Use
Provoke to force an enemy to run to you (at high speed if
Hasty Provocation is talented) or briefly "tag" them with
Crackling Jade Lightning, provided you immediately cancel its cast afterward.
- (Optional): Use
Provoke to force an enemy to run to you or briefly "tag" them with
Crackling Jade Lightning, provided you immediately cancel its cast afterward. If you are using
Summon Black Ox Statue, place it near multiple enemies to get all of their attention at once.
- Use
Rushing Jade Wind or throw
Exploding Keg before directly engaging your targets. If
Special Delivery is talented instead, you will passively deal damage from using "Brew" abilities.
- (Optional): Use
Touch of Death to instantly kill the target if it is usable. Recommended for tougher enemies or for quest bosses.
- Cast
Keg Smash as your opening ability when entering combat and on cooldown afterward.
- Cast
Weapons of Order, if talented to deal additional damage to your targets. Make sure you are standing near your enemies when casting
Weapons of Order with
Chi Surge talented to reduce its cooldown.
- Cast
Blackout Kick whenever it is available.
- Cast
Rising Sun Kick whenever it is available. If you have talented into
Chi Wave instead of
Chi Burst, this will also cause it to activate!
- If you have talented it, cast
Breath of Fire whenever it is available to apply a DoT effect to your enemies and reduce their damage dealt to you.
- Cast
Expel Harm as necessary to offset your damage taken.
- Refresh your
Rushing Jade Wind.
- Cast
Chi Burst, if talented, on cooldown to deal more damage and heal yourself.
- Cast
Tiger Palm as a filler, but do not go below 40 Energy.
- Cast
Tiger Palm as a filler if fighting one target, but do not go below 40 Energy. With
Blackout Combo talented, you will always want to spend its buff on this ability after every
Blackout Kick.
- Cast
Spinning Crane Kick as a filler time if fighting multiple targets, but do not go below 40 Energy.
- Cast
Expel Harm if you are in need of healing and to gather your
Gift of the Ox/
Spirit of the Ox spheres.
- In an emergency, you may instantly cast
Vivify once per cast of
Rising Sun Kick due to
Vivacious Vivification. This is largely to be used for convenience during leveling, though with
Protect and Serve, its healing is noteworthy even in combat when doing easier content.
Active Mitigation
- Maintain
Shuffle by continuing to cast
Blackout Kick and
Keg Smash on cooldown to smooth out your damage taken.
- Cast
Purifying Brew largely on cooldown when actively fighting an enemy and suffering damage from
Stagger, but save one charge for emergencies.
- Cast
Celestial Infusion after using your initial
Purifying Brew charges to increase its size with the stacks of
Purified Chi received. Use it on cooldown otherwise.
