Which Artifact Path to Pick as Discipline Priest?
During this event you will have five paths to spend your Infinite Power
on to empower your Artifact Weapon. These five trees each have their own unique
active ability as well as multiple passives that increase your damage, healing, or
survivability. Below are a few recommendations depending on your playstyle,
but keep in mind that experimentation and playing around with the different themes
and passive is half the fun of this temporary game-mode. Picking your favorite choice
based on theme and visuals is perfectly valid!
For Solo Players: Early on, Nature will provide both solid damage and survivability when leveling and playing solo. As you get better gear or you feel your survivability is good enough via your own self healing, look into utilizing Arcane or Storm for more raw throughput.
For Group Play: When stepping into group content, you have a few options. Storm is likely a permanent stay due to the ability to cast while moving. After that, both Nature and Holy provide some group healing/shielding benefits if you're attempting to fill that role. If you're instead looking to provide more damage value, Fel is a strong option as it buffs the damage dealt by other players Arcane and Storm abilities.
Here's a quick overview of each of the trees:
- Nature: This tree offers strong
damage procs, while the active ability
Call of the Forest shields you as well as giving you a bonus to casting speed. The passives in the tree provide enhance your survivability and also grant you more cooldown reduction and extra resource generation, ideal for early leveling and gearing.
- Fel: This is a purely
damage-focused tree, allowing you to summon a Dreadlord with
Twisted Crusade that will summon a Rain of Fire to deal damage in an area. With the capstone you can re-use this ability for a massive amount of AoE burst around the Dreadlords location.
- Arcane: This tree mixes
survivability and DPS, but only if you can stand still
in combat. It's active ability,
Naran's Everdisc, deals massive AoE damage to targets in front of you, and you can benefit from this up to 3 times if you catch the orb as it returns to you.
- Storm: This is the go-to choice
for Shadow Priests due to the passive ability of
being able to cast while moving. The active ability
Tempest Wrath deals damage in a circle around you, and each target hit will increase the damage further. As you add more points into the tree you also gain stacking Haste bonuses.
- Holy: While this tree is more focused around healing procs, this can be useful in earlier content or progression if you are lacking self-healing and survivability. This is the most hybrid choice to pick if you are looking to ride the line between healing and DPS throughput.

Move the slider below to make the guide update to your level!
- Cast
Power Word: Shield on yourself if your HP has begun to drop.
- Cast
Power Infusion on cooldown.
- Maintain
Shadow Word: Pain on all targets unless the target will die before a significant portion of the DoT ticks.
- Cast
Shadowfiend/
Mindbender on cooldown unless you need to hold it for healing purposes.
- Cast
Shadow Word: Death if the target is below 20% HP. Be careful not to kill yourself with this spell.
- Cast
Penance on cooldown.
- Cast
Mind Blast on cooldown.
- Cast
Smite as your filler.
Starting at level 15, you can queue for dungeons with the in-game group finder. The following is a general priority list of healing spells in dungeons:
- Cast
Power Word: Shield on cooldown if a single player is taking damage.
- Cast
Power Word: Radiance when it is available and you have multiple people that need Atonement at the same time.
- Cast
Flash Heal when you need to direct heal someone if your
Atonement healing is not enough.
In addition to these baseline abilities, there is a passive effect that is crucial to understand leveling as a Discipline Priest:
Atonement causes your damaging spells to heal all targets with
Atonement on them. It is crucial that you DPS to utilize your Atonements applied
instead of getting stuck in the habit of spamming direct heals. Follow the
healing spell priority list above to apply Atonement, and then once all players
taking damage have Atonement on them, follow the damage spell priority list.
