On this page, you will find out the optimal stat priority for your Devourer Demon Hunter. We first present the stat priority, before delving into more complex explanations on how the stats interact with your specialization and gameplay. Our content is updated for World of Warcraft Patch 12.1.
Devourer Demon Hunter Stat Priority
Welcome to our Stat Priority page for Devourer Demon Hunter in Midnight Season Two. Here we'll quickly be going over the stats you should aim for on gear, alongside any special considerations depending on your build.
Devourer Demon Hunter has slightly different stat priorities depending on your Hero Talent selection, but they do not differ significantly enough that you need entirely different gear-sets to play them.
Annihilator Stat Priority
While playing
Annihilator, a basic recommended stat priority is
as follows:
In Midnight, primary stats are back to being extremely valuable, so picking items based on item level is generally a safe bet to increase your Intellect.
Annihilator strongly prefers Haste, especially in single-target, to
ramp up its
Void Metamorphosis effect to leverage
Emptiness.
Mastery is close behind to amplify its Cosmic damage, multiplied even further when
transformed. In AoE situations, however, this flips, and Mastery becomes
the dominant secondary option.
Critical strike is very powerful following the nerfs to
Mastery: Monster Within, due to
Calamitous, and will be on a few of your gearing pieces once you gain significant Haste. Versatility falls to last place, though it
does provide some defensive benefits.
Void-Scarred Stat Priority
While playing
Void-Scarred, a basic recommended stat priority is
as follows:
In Midnight, primary stats are back to being extremely valuable, so picking items based on item level is generally a safe bet to increase your Intellect.
Void-Scarred looks to get 17-20% haste, to help with cycling through
Void Metamorphosis. It then looks to
split its stats fairly evenly between Mastery and Critical Strike, with values depending on what gear you currently have.
Versatility is much further behind, with little in the way of reasons to seek it out. It does come with some defensive benefits though, which can be useful. Any Haste gained above the breakpoint is very poor, and should be avoided at all costs.
FAQHow Much Haste Do I Want?
Void-Scarred has very specific Haste requirements this season, due to a Haste breakpoint to allow us to smuggle Hunt, and to cycle through our
Void Metamorphosis casts quicker.
Look to get roughly ~800 Haste (17-20%) on your gear, before spreading the rest of your stats evenly amongst Critical Strike and Mastery.
Void-Scarred really does not want to go above this much haste,
and it becomes your worst stat once you do.
FAQYou say Critical Strike is better, but I see players with more Mastery?
While Critical Strike is a better stat for
Void-Scarred, its value gets relatively diminished through the few Critical Strike sources we have, namely
Aqirbane Reliquary and
Freightrunner's Flask.
Prior to obtaining these two items, Critical Strike is better for you, but once you do, Mastery will pull ahead.

In-Depth Stat Breakdown
As a Devourer Demon Hunter, Intellect is your primary stat, so you will want to have this present on all gear pieces. Individual stats provide the following benefits:
- Intellect - provides you with Spell Power, increasing the damage of your Devourer abilities and attacks.
- Critical Strike - increases the chance for your attacks to critically
strike, dealing double damage. Additionally:
Calamitous increases Critical Strike damage dealt to 240%,
up from the original 200% multiplier.
Void-Scarred:
Flamebound grants
Hungering Slash 125% increased critical strike damage, and also increases its radius by 2 yards.
- Mastery - increases all Cosmic damage you deal through
Mastery: Monster Within. Additionally:
- Bonus is increased by 33% during
Void Metamorphosis. - Also increases your base Movement Speed via
Pursuit.
- Bonus is increased by 33% during
- Haste - increases the cast speed of spells, and increases your attack
speed while in melee range. Additionally:
- Reduces your Global Cooldown to a minimum of up to 0.75 seconds.
- Reduces the cooldown of
Void Ray while in
Void Metamorphosis
form. - Reduces the cooldown of
Reap with
Umbral Blade.
- Versatility - increases all damage and healing you do (including trinkets and proc effects) by a flat amount. Additionally, reduces all damage you take by half of that amount.
Diminishing Returns on Stats
Every stat has a limit where they will begin to offer less increase per point gained, which are known as the points of diminishing return. Once you have reached these amounts, stats will become progressively less valuable and may fall behind other options. The current breakpoints are:
| Stat | 10% DR Rating | 20% DR Rating | 30% DR Rating |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mastery | 1380 | 1840 | 2300 |
| Critical Strike | 1380 | 1840 | 2300 |
| Haste | 1320 | 1760 | 2200 |
| Versatility | 1620 | 2160 | 2700 |
