Devourer Demon Hunter DPS Stat Priority — Midnight (12.0.1)
On this page, you will find out the optimal stat priority for your Devourer Demon Hunter. We first present the stat priority, before delving into more complex explanations. Our content is updated for World of Warcraft — Midnight (12.0.1).
The Basics of Stats for Devourer Demon Hunters
Welcome to our Stat Priority page for Devourer Demon Hunter in the Midnight Pre-Season. Here we'll quickly be going over the stats you should aim for on gear, alongside any special considerations depending on your build.
Devourer Demon Hunter has slightly different stat priorities depending on your Hero Talent selection, but they do not differ significantly enough that you need different gear-sets to play them.
Stat Priorities
Annihilator Stat Priority
While playing
Annihilator, a basic recommended stat priority is
as follows:
- Intellect
- Haste
- Mastery
- Critical Strike
- Versatility
In Midnight, primary stats are back to being extremely valuable, so picking items based on item level is generally a safe bet to increase your Intellect.
Annihilator strongly prefers Haste, especially in single-target, to
ramp up its
Void Metamorphosis effect to leverage
Emptiness.
Mastery is close behind to amplify its Cosmic damage, multiplied even further when
transformed. In AoE situations, however, this flips, and Mastery becomes
the dominant secondary option.
While
Calamitous does provide some additional Critical Strike scaling,
it's not enough to warrant seeking out. Versatility falls to last place, though it
does provide some defensive benefits.
Void-Scarred Stat Priority
While playing
Void-Scarred, a basic recommended stat priority is
as follows:
- Intellect
- Mastery
- Haste
- Critical Strike
- Versatility
In Midnight, primary stats are back to being extremely valuable, so picking items based on item level is generally a safe bet to increase your Intellect.
Void-Scarred ideally gets as much Mastery as possible, making use of
the Cosmic damage multiplier that doubles during
Void Metamorphosis, where
most of its damage occurs. Haste is close behind, increasing the pace at which it
can trigger each transformation.
Critical Strike and Versatility are both further behind, with little in the way of reasons to seek them out. Versatility does come with some defensive benefits though, which can be useful.
Diminishing Returns on Stats
Every stat has a limit where they will begin to offer less increase per point gained, which are known as the points of diminishing return. Once you have reached these amounts, stats will become progressively less valuable and may fall behind other options. The current breakpoints are:
- Critical Strike - 1380 Rating
- Haste - 1320 Rating
- Versatility - 1620 Rating
- Mastery - 1380 Rating
How To Choose Gear For The Devourer Demon Hunter
If you are ever in doubt about what items to wear for any given situation, the best way to figure it out for your character is to use Raidbots. This website allows you to easily compare gear you already have, as well as gear you do not have.
Due to every character being unique with variables based on your current gear, racial bonuses and effects you have active, it is much easier to trust its bespoke output rather than a general priority if you are looking to min-max your damage potential.
Gems, Enchants, and Consumables
The gems, enchants, and consumables you will use are directly derived from your stat priority. You can find our advice on this topic on our dedicated page.
Understanding Devourer Demon Hunter Stats
As a Devourer Demon Hunter, Intellect is your primary stat, so you will want to have this present on all gear pieces. Individual stats provide the following benefits:
- Intellect - provides you with Spell Power, increasing the damage of your Devourer abilities and attacks.
- Critical Strike - increases the chance for your attacks to critically
strike, dealing double damage. Additionally:
Calamitous increases Critical Strike damage dealt to 240%,
up from the original 200% multiplier.
- Mastery - increases all Cosmic damage you deal through
Mastery: Monster Within. Additionally:
- Bonus is slightly more than doubled during
Void Metamorphosis. - Also increases your base Movement Speed via
Pursuit.
- Bonus is slightly more than doubled during
- Haste - increases the cast speed of spells, and increases your attack
speed while in melee range. Additionally:
- Reduces your Global Cooldown to a minimum of up to 0.75 seconds.
- Reduces the cooldown of
Void Ray while in
Void Metamorphosis
form.
- Versatility - increases all damage and healing you do (including trinkets and proc effects) by a flat amount. Additionally, reduces all damage you take by half of that amount.
