Which Artifact Path to Pick as Restoration Shaman?

In Legion Remix you be able to pick one of five paths in your Artifact Weapon to spend your Infinite Power Icon Infinite Power on. These five trees each have their own unique active ability as well as multiple passives that increase your damage, healing, or survivability. Below are a few recommendations depending on your playstyle, but keep in mind that experimentation and playing around with the different themes and passive is half the fun of this temporary game-mode. Picking your favorite choice based on theme and visuals is perfectly valid!

Generally, you should not find yourself needing to heal players much in Legion Remix due to the high amount of player power and ways to self-sustain available. For that reason, you will likely want to opt for one of the higher DPS options: Storm or Fel. Storm will provide you with larger AoE DPS while Fel provides a nice single-target increase. If you are playing solo and having a difficult time staying alive, you can opt for a more defensive Holy, Arcane, or Nature setup.

Below we will list generic choices you can make depending on the content you are doing:

For Solo Players: We recommend playing Storm or Fel.

For Duo-ing: When teaming up with one other player, having a combination of Fel and either Storm or Arcane works best. The player talenting into the Fel tree will apply Fel Touched to enemies, which increases the amount of damage dealt by Arcane and Storm specced players.

For Group Play: When doing 5-man dungeons, Storm is likely your best option due to its massive AoE potential, while Fel offers great single-target damage boosts for raid encounter. If you do find yourself wanting to play a healing focused build, opt for Holy.

Here's a quick overview of each of the trees:

  • Nature: This tree offers strong damage procs, while the active ability Call of the Forest Icon Call of the Forest shields you as well as dealing moderate AoE damage to targets in front of you. The passives in the tree provide good damage and survivability, and are particularly powerful when teaming up with other players.
  • Fel: This is a purely damage-focused tree, allowing you to summon a Dreadlord with Twisted Crusade Icon Twisted Crusade that will summon a Rain of Fire to deal damage in an area. With the capstone you can re-use this ability for a massive amount of AoE burst around the Dreadlords location.
  • Arcane: This tree mixes survivability and DPS, but only if you can stand still in combat. Its active ability, Naran's Everdisc Icon Naran's Everdisc, deals massive AoE damage to targets in front of you, and you can benefit from this up to 3 times if you catch the orb as it returns to you.
  • Storm: Being Storm allows you to move while casting and grants large Haste bonuses. Its Tempest Wrath Icon Tempest Wrath ability scales in damage with the amount of enemies nearby, making it perfect for large pulls as a healer specialization with high self-sustain and survivability.
  • Holy: This is the healing tree if you are looking to heal others. It also has a lot of survivability options, but you will usually not want to play this tree unless you are doing group content early on, while healing capabilities are still valued.

Best Legion Remix Leveling Talents for Restoration Shaman

Below you will find our recommended leveling build and talent pickup order for your Restoration Shaman in Legion Remix. For solo content and small group content, we will recommend a damage focused build, allowing you to get through content quickly. The designated raiding build will focus on maximizing your healing output, but you may want to swap to a damage build once healing is no longer necessary.

Open World and Questing Build Dungeon and Mythic+ Build Raid and Bossing Build

Leveling, Open World and Questing Build

This build assumes you are spending a lot of time questing or just farming regular enemies in open world content.

4.2.

Dungeon and Mythic+ Build

This build is intended for small group gameplay, such as Dungeons and Mythic+, and includes multiple damage-oriented talents as well as solid healing capabilities.

4.3.

Level by Level Rotation

Since Legion Remix is the perfect opportunity to level classes you have not played before, we wanted to keep things as simple as possible for those learning the spec. Simply use the slider to select your level to learn a little bit more about how and when to use the abilities you just unlocked.

Leveling Rotation for Restoration Shaman

When using our slider, note that some talents may appear sooner than you expect them to in the rotation. This is due to the differences in the recommended builds above, each taking talents at slightly different times, and sometimes entirely different talents.

Starting at Level 1, you only have one main damaging ability: Lightning Bolt Icon Lightning Bolt. This will change at level 10 when you select Restoration as your specialization and unlock other abilities. Until then, use Lightning Bolt Icon Lightning Bolt to kill targets and make use of Flame Shock Icon Flame Shock when it unlocks at level 3, and of Lightning Shield Icon Lightning Shield once it unlocks at level 9.

  1. Keep Lightning Shield Icon Lightning Shield active on yourself;
  2. Cast Healing Rain Icon Healing Rain (with Acid Rain Icon Acid Rain) against 3+ enemies that will live through its duration;
  3. Apply Flame Shock Icon Flame Shock if it is absent;
  4. Cast Lava Burst Icon Lava Burst whenever available;
  5. Cast Chain Lightning Icon Chain Lightning against two or more targets;
  6. Cast Lightning Bolt Icon Lightning Bolt as a filler on a single target.

While there is no set rotation for healing, the following priorities generally apply:

  1. Use Unleash Life Icon Unleash Life on cooldown to spawn Ancestors;
  2. Use Unleash Life Icon Unleash Life and Ancestral Swiftness Icon Ancestral Swiftness on cooldown to spawn Ancestors;
  3. Cast Riptide Icon Riptide and Healing Stream Totem Icon Healing Stream Totem whenever possible;
  4. Cast Chain Heal Icon Chain Heal if multiple people in your group are hurt and close to each other;
  5. Cast Healing Surge Icon Healing Surge on damaged allies;
  6. Use your DPS rotation (detailed above) if no healing is required.
