Wrathion, the Black Emperor

We advise you to use the following talents against Wrathion, the Black Emperor.

We advise you to use the following essences against Wrathion, the Black Emperor.

If your group is struggling a lot with killing groups of Crackling Shard Icon Crackling Shards, you can opt into a more aggressive AoE build by taking Resonance Icon Resonance and Reverberate Icon Reverberate.

3.1.

Tips

Make sure you watch the boss mod timer for Smoke and Mirrors, and do not activate your cooldowns, like Arcane Power Icon Arcane Power or Rune of Power Icon Rune of Power, right before he casts it, as he becomes immune after the cast.

During the Smoke and Mirrors phase, prioritize single isolated Crackling Shard Icon Crackling Shards, since Arcane can burst these down quickly. If you went for the more AoE focused build listed above, you should instead focus down the groups of Shards.

3.1.1.

Mythic Tips

4.

Maut

We advise you to use the following talents against Maut.

We advise you to use the following essences against Maut.

4.1.

Tips

During the second phase, you should watch your health carefully, since you will be reflecting all damage you do to the boss. You can use Greater Invisibility Icon Greater Invisibility to reduce this damage if you are falling low. It is generally not recommended to use your DPS cooldowns in this phase unless specifically discussed with the healers, as the odds of killing yourself with the large burst that Arcane does is very high.

When an Orb gets soaked, you will get a large amount of Mana regeneration. When you have this bonus Mana regen, you should be able to constantly remain in your burn phase, and do not have to do any Mana conservation.

4.1.1.

Mythic Tips

You should Remove Curse Icon Remove Curse yourself when afflicted by Ancient Curse Icon Ancient Curse, rather than running into Devoured Abyss Icon Devoured Abyss.

For more information, please refer to our Maut guide.

5.

The Prophet Skitra

We advise you to use the following talents against The Prophet Skitra.

We advise you to use the following essences against The Prophet Skitra.

5.1.

Tips

You can use Shimmer Icon Shimmer to Shimmer through the Images of Absolution Icon Images of Absolution without taking any damage from them.

For more information, please refer to our The Prophet Skitra guide.

6.

Dark Inquisitor Xanesh

We advise you to use the following talents against Dark Inquisitor Xanesh.

Tips

We do not have any boss specific tips for this fight for Arcane Mages.

6.1.1.

Mythic Tips

There are no Arcane Mage tips on Mythic Difficulty.

For more information, please refer to our Dark Inquisitor Xanesh guide.

7.

The Hivemind

We advise you to use the following talents against The Hivemind.

We advise you to use the following essences against The Hivemind.

This fight has a lot of cleave and AoE, however, depending on the strategy used by your group, you can either focus on boss damage, or you can pick Resonance Icon Resonance and Reverberate Icon Reverberate to focus down Aqir Drones. For a more hybrid approach, you can pick Nether Tempest Icon Nether Tempest.

7.1.

Tips

You can use Shimmer Icon Shimmer to avoid getting hit by the Aqir Drones, and kite them over other Drones, so they can be AoEd down more efficiently.

7.1.1.

Mythic Tips

There are no Arcane Mage tips on Mythic Difficulty.

For more information, please refer to our The Hivemind guide.

8.

Shad'har the Insatiable

We advise you to use the following talents against Shad'har the Insatiable.

We advise you to use the following essences against Shad'har the Insatiable.

8.1.

Tips

Arcane Mages are good at dealing with the Entropic Buildup Icon Entropic Buildup pools. You can not use Ice Block Icon Ice Block to remove the debuff from soaking the pool, however, you can use it to stop the damage from it while Ice Blocked. Additionally, when Ice Block is on cooldown, you can use Greater Invisibility Icon Greater Invisibility to reduce the damage taken from soaking.

To optimize DPS, you should use Shimmer Icon Shimmer to Shimmer out of the raid to the edge of the room when you are fixated by the Living Miasma. You can then Displacement Icon Displacement back into the group.

8.1.1.

Mythic Tips

There are no Arcane Mage tips on Mythic Difficulty.

For more information, please refer to our Shad'har the Insatiable guide.

9.

Drest'agath

We advise you to use the following talents against Drest'agath.

We advise you to use the following essences against Drest'agath.

9.1.

Tips

When affected by Mutterings of Insanity Icon Mutterings of Insanity, you should use Shimmer Icon Shimmer to get far away from the rest of the raid.

You should aim to have your cooldowns ready for most of the times you take the buff from a Void Infused Ichor Icon Void Infused Ichor, to maximize damage to the boss.

9.1.1.

Mythic Tips

You can use Ice Block Icon Ice Block to remove the debuff from Mutterings of Insanity Icon Mutterings of Insanity (or the stun if you do not remove the debuff before it expires) to avoid getting stunned altogether. This can be useful if you get it during Arcane Power Icon Arcane Power to ensure you spend as little time stunned as possible, especially if your healers usually take a couple of seconds to dispel the stun.

Although not a Mythic specific tip, it is extra important on Mythic to line up your cooldowns with taking the Void Infused Ichor Icon Void Infused Ichor, since Arcane can do large amounts of boss damage compared to other classes in these short burst windows.

For more information, please refer to our Drest'agath guide.

10.

Vexiona

We advise you to use the following talents against Vexiona.

We advise you to use the following essences against Vexiona.

Nether Tempest Icon Nether Tempest is a great choice on this fight to do good boss DPS, while getting some additional cleave DPS out of it to do damage to the many adds. You can stick to Touch of the Magi Icon Touch of the Magi if you do not need the extra cleave DPS, because your group already has high cleave damage.

Choosing between Resonance Icon Resonance and Charged Up Icon Charged Up is a similar choice. Resonance can be used for more add damage, but at the cost of reasonable single-target DPS. However, a lot the adds are quite important to kill quickly, which makes both options a good choice.

10.1.

Tips

When you get Encroaching Shadows Icon Encroaching Shadows, you should use Shimmer Icon Shimmer to get away from the raid and use Displacement Icon Displacement to get back into the raid.

10.1.1.

Mythic Tips

On Mythic, it is generally advised to just take the single target DPS build, as there is a low chance the group will lack enough AoE DPS to deal with the adds, and the only real DPS check is the final phase, which is a pure single target phase..

For more information, please refer to our Vexiona guide.

11.

Ra-den the Despoiled

We advise you to use the following talents against Ra-den the Despoiled.

We advise you to use the following essences against Ra-den the Despoiled.

11.1.

Tips

11.1.1.

Phase 1

When affected by Unstable Vita Icon Unstable Vita, you will want to use Shimmer Icon Shimmer to Shimmer to one of the assigned locations to deal with Unstable Vita. When you are done dealing with the Unstable Vita, you can use Displacement Icon Displacement to get back into the group.

You can use Ice Block Icon Ice Block to solo soak the Void Collapse Icon Void Collapse if you get affected by it. On Normal and Heroic, you can also use Greater Invisibility Icon Greater Invisibility to solo soak this.

11.1.2.

Phase 2

You should use Shimmer Icon Shimmer to quickly break the Charged Bonds Icon Charged Bonds.

11.1.3.

Mythic Tips

You can use Ice Block Icon Ice Block to get rid of the Corrupted Existence Icon Corrupted Existence, so you can be healed to full health.

For more information, please refer to our Ra-den the Despoiled guide.

12.

Il'gynoth, Corruption Reborn

We advise you to use the following talents against Il'gynoth, Corruption Reborn.

We advise you to use the following essences against Il'gynoth, Corruption Reborn.

12.1.

Tips

12.1.1.

Intermission Phase

When affected by Cursed Blood Icon Cursed Blood, you should use Shimmer Icon Shimmer to quickly Shimmer out of the group, and use Displacement Icon Displacement to get back into the group.

12.1.2.

Mythic Tips

If your group uses the strategy where Cursed Blood Icon Cursed Blood does not get dispelled at all, make sure you do not use Ice Block Icon Ice Block while you have it, as it will instantly dispel it, and most likely cause a wipe.

For more information, please refer to our Il'gynoth, Corruption Reborn guide.

13.

Carapace of N'Zoth

We advise you to use the following talents against Carapace of N'Zoth.

We advise you to use the following essences against Carapace of N'Zoth.

Nether Tempest Icon Nether Tempest can be used to increase the damage to the various types of adds throughout the encounter, without giving up too much priority DPS. Picking between Nether Tempest and Touch of the Magi Icon Touch of the Magi largely comes down to whether your group needs more priority DPS or more cleave DPS.

13.1.

Tips

13.1.1.

Phase 1

You should use Shimmer Icon Shimmer to quickly get away from other players when affected by Madness Bomb Icon Madness Bomb and you can use Displacement Icon Displacement to get back to your original position if needed.

13.1.2.

Intermission to Phase 2

You can use Arcane Explosion Icon Arcane Explosion while moving towards the Synthesis Growths, to reduce the size of the Mycelial Cysts.

13.1.3.

Phase 2

Make sure to watch the timer for Occipital Blast Icon Occipital Blast to avoid using your cooldowns right before N'Zoth casts this spell, as you will very likely have to move.

13.1.4.

Phase 3

Just like in Phase 1, you should use Shimmer Icon Shimmer to quickly get away from other players when affected by Insanity Bomb Icon Insanity Bomb. Generally speaking, you will want to ignore DPSing the Nightmare Antigen adds and let cleave classes kill these at the correct time, and focus on DPSing the boss, but this will depend on your strategy.

13.1.5.

Mythic Tips

During the intermission phase, you should try to get yourself assigned to the right side pathway. This side contains Synthesis Growths that are grouped together (all the way in the back, 2 sets of 3), allowing you to cleave them with Nether Tempest Icon Nether Tempest, Arcane Explosion Icon Arcane Explosion and Arcane Barrage Icon Arcane Barrage.

For more information, please refer to our Carapace of N'Zoth guide.

14.

N'Zoth the Corruptor

We advise you to use the following talents against N'Zoth the Corruptor.

We advise you to use the following essences against N'Zoth the Corruptor.

14.1.

Tips

14.1.1.

Phase 1

Your main job in this phase early on should be to focus on killing Exposed Synapses that are being killed next. However, when Psychus gets multiple stacks of Synaptic Shock Icon Synaptic Shock, if it is viable for your group setup, you should let classes that can cleave and multi-dot focus on dealing with the Synapses, while you focus purely on Psychus damage.

When Psychus has a lot of stacks of Synaptic Shock Icon Synaptic Shock, you should use all your DPS cooldowns. What is considered "a lot" depends on your strategy. Generally speaking, 6 to 7 stacks is when you should use all your DPS cooldowns.

14.1.2.

Phase 2

When affected by Paranoia Icon Paranoia, you should use Shimmer Icon Shimmer to get to your linked partner as quick as possible.

When you go back into the dream realm, you should play it the same as described in Phase 1.

14.1.3.

Phase 3

Since Phase 3 is largely a DPS check phase, you should focus on optimizing your damage here. The main thing to look for is that you do not use Rune of Power Icon Rune of Power shortly before Evoke Anguish Icon Evoke Anguish as this will force you to move out of your Rune.

14.1.4.

Mythic Tips

Since this fight has some very strict DPS checks, and has very important timing windows, you will most likely have to discuss your Arcane Power Icon Arcane Power windows with the raid team. In general, you will want to make sure that you have it ready for when you are on Psychus, so you can use your cooldowns when Psychus has around 6 stacks, and on the boss burn phases during Phase 1 when you are not assigned to Psychus.

Generally speaking, Ice Block Icon Ice Block is assigned to soak 2 sets of Harvest Thoughts Icon Harvest Thoughts casts. If you are assigned to do this, simply use Ice Block shortly before the Harvest Thought casts finishes. On some of the Harvest Thought immunity assignments, it will be followed by a Evoke Anguish Icon Evoke Anguish shortly after. If this is the case on your Ice Block assignment, make sure you stay in Ice Block until the Evoke Anguish has finished casting as well, since if you are in an Ice Block before the casts finishes, you will not get the debuff at all. It is worth noting, you cannot use Greater Invisibility Icon Greater Invisibility to immune the Harvest Thoughts. Greater Invisibility will allow you to live through the damage, but you will still lose all of your sanity and thus get mind controlled.

A note on Ice Block Icon Ice Block usage: If you are assigned to use Ice Block during the Harvest Thoughts Icon Harvest Thoughts cast around 8 minutes, make sure you use it slightly early. (so around 8.04, instead of the 8.07 where the cast finishes), so you can use Ice Block again at 12.05 for the Evoke Anguish Icon Evoke Anguish that goes out at that point.

You can use Shimmer Icon Shimmer to Shimmer to your assigned Evoke Anguish Icon Evoke Anguish spot, and then use Displacement Icon Displacement after Evoke Anguish is finished casting to minimize movement required.

For more information, please refer to our N'Zoth the Corruptor guide.
