On this page, you will find Frost Death Knight specific information to deal with each boss in the Amirdrassil raid. These are not complete encounter guides but specific tips for doing the bosses as a Frost Death Knight.
This page assumes that you already understand most of the mechanics of each encounter. These can be found on the full raid guide, so what is contained here are details specifically tailored toward Frost Death Knight and how you can deal with each fight as best as possible.
Best Talents for Frost Death Knight
Breath Raid Build
Obliteration Raid Talents
The main choice you need to make as a Frost Death Knight is whether or not you are playing Breath of Sindragosa or Obliteration. Both builds are competitive on pretty much every single boss (both in top 10 DPS) so it is down to personal preference what you play. I will recommend one Breath of Sindragosa build and one Obliteration build for each boss.
Some other choices involve picking up Abomination Limb for both builds, or Frostwhelp's Aid for Breath of Sindragosa.
Gnarlroot
Talents
Abomination Limb finds good value on the add cleave, both dealing good damage and providing grip utility.
Suggested Talent Build
- Breath: BsPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAkIAISSCJiERISSIkIJRECIRkIJJJJJplAAAAAAAAAAAAA
- Obliteration: BsPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAcgIAIRSCJiERISSIkIJRkAIhkERSSSSKJBAAAAAAAAAAAA
Tips
- Use Anti-Magic Shell when target by Controlled Burn. This deals a lot of damage, and you will be running out of the raid, making it more difficult to survive. Furthermore, it helps your Breath keep going as you won't be able to hit the boss during this time!
- An alternative use for Anti-Magic Shell is for the tank frontal. Even at Mythic, this will essentially deal 0 damage to your through AMS and provide a good chunk of Runic Power. Be careful, though; you do not want to end up dying by soaking a frontal deliberately!
- Use Anti-Magic Zone when the boss casts Tortured Scream. Ideally, time this when you are low on Runic Power in your Breath.
- Leverage Death and Decay to cleave as much as possible on the adds.
- Use Abomination Limb when the adds spawn to do damage and grip them together.
For more information, please refer to our Gnarlroot guide.
Igira the Cruel
Talents
Primarily a Single Target encounter with some short burst Add cleave. Default builds for both Breath and Obliteration
Suggested Talent Build
- Breath: BsPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAkIAIikEJiERISSIkIJRECIRkIJJJJJplAAAAAAAAAAAAA
- Obliteration: BsPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAcgIAIhkEJiERISSIkIJRkAIhkERSSSSKJBAAAAAAAAAAAA
Tips
- Use Death's Advance to avoid the knockback from Marked for Torment.
- Use Anti-Magic Zone to help your raid mitigate the damage from Umbral Destruction, Smashing Viscera and Marked for Torment, ideally using it when you need Runic Power for your Breath of Sindragosa. Especially Smashing Viscera is good since you have a lot of raid damage coming in, and you won't be able to hit the boss when he is leaping around!
- Make sure to not fire off a fresh Breath just before the boss starts jumping about!
- Use Death and Decay to deal good cleave damage on the Blistering Spears.
For more information, please refer to our Igira guide.
Volcoross
Talents
Pure Single Target encounter so default build for both Breath and Obliteration.
Suggested Talent Build
- Breath: BsPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAkIAIikEJiERISSIkIJRECIRkIJJJJJplAAAAAAAAAAAAA
- Obliteration: BsPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAcgIAIhkEJiERISSIkIJRkAIhkERSSSSKJBAAAAAAAAAAAA
Tips
- Use Anti-Magic Shell when targeted by Coiling Flames to help mitigate the damage and gain Runic Power for Breath of Sindragosa. You can go stack on someone else who has the debuff to also generate some RP!
- Use Anti-Magic Zone to help your raid mitigate the damage from Flood of the Firelands. Ideally, time this when you are low on Runic Power in your Breath of Sindragosa.
- Use Death's Advance to immune the knockback from Flood of the Firelands.
For more information, please refer to our Council of Dreams guide.
Council of Dreams
Talents
This fight consists of 3 target spread-ish cleave. You fight three bosses at the same time, but they tend to be relatively spread out and move around quite a lot. Importantly, you will spend time as a Duck multiple times in this fight, making Breath of Sindragosa especially difficult to keep up if you get unlucky. Default build for both still.
Suggested Talent Build
- Breath: BsPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAkIAIikEJiERISSIkIJRECIRkIJJJJJplAAAAAAAAAAAAA
- Obliteration: BsPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAcgIAIhkEJiERISSIkIJRkAIhkERSSSSKJBAAAAAAAAAAAA
Tips
- Use Death and Decay to cleave as much as possible when the bosses are stacked. Make sure to use it 2 GCDs into your Pillar of Frost windows!
- Use Anti-Magic Shell when targeted by Poisonous Javelin.
- Use Death's Advance during Emerald Winds to immune the push effect.
For more information, please refer to our Volcoross guide.
Larodar, Keeper of the Flame
Talents
Primarily a single target encounter with some intermittent add cleave and heavy movement. You can generally soak up some Magic damage due to the frequent boss charges. However, these also bring the boss far away from you, making it difficult to maintain uptime on your Breath! The Single Target nature of the encounter is why we recommend default builds here.
Suggested Talent Build
- Breath: BsPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAkIAIikEJiERISSIkIJRECIRkIJJJJJplAAAAAAAAAAAAA
- Obliteration: BsPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAcgIAIhkEJiERISSIkIJRkAIhkERSSSSKJBAAAAAAAAAAAA
Tips
- Use Death Grip to help gather up the Fiery Treants when they spawn.
- Leverage Death and Decay whenever the Fiery Treants spawn to do heavy cleave damage.
- Use Anti-Magic Zone to help your raid mitigate the damage from Raging Inferno. Also, use Anti-Magic Shell to further mitigate the damage to yourself.
- Use Death's Advance during Consuming Flame to immune the pulling effect.
- Use Abomination Limb to help group up the adds and deal good cleave damage.
- You can soak the Blazing Coalescence orbs to gain a short crit buff. This also deals damage to you, so make sure to use a defensive if you drop too low!
- Use Anti-Magic Shell for Furious Charge to soak the magic damage hit (from Furious Outburst) and generate Runic Power for your Breath.
Nymue, Weaver of the Cycle
Talents
Nymue is an encounter with a stationary boss in Phase 1, and two adds in Phase 2. The adds are not stacked though, so it is essentially a single target encounter. Even if the boss is completely stationary, you are likely to run around quite an amount (especially during the intermission when you need to get to the add). This means that Breath of Sindragosa builds will be harder to pull off. Default builds due to Single Target encounter.
Suggested Talent Build
- Breath: BsPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAkIAIikEJiERISSIkIJRECIRkIJJJJJplAAAAAAAAAAAAA
- Obliteration: BsPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAcgIAIhkEJiERISSIkIJRkAIhkERSSSSKJBAAAAAAAAAAAA
Tips
- You can use Icebound Fortitude if you are hit by Impending Loom. This will remove the stun and help mitigate the DoT afterward.
- You can use Anti-Magic Shell to immune the effect of an Impending Loom line. You should just dodge these, though.
- Use Anti-Magic Shell and Anti-Magic Zone during Continuum to help mitigate the damage and generate Runic Power.
- You can use Anti-Magic Shell to cross across the walls without getting the DoT. You simply immune the application and can move freely through them for the full duration of Anti-Magic Shell. Great to use if you get the Weaver's Burden mechanic, as you will need to move out of the raid, crossing multiple lines.
- You can use Anti-Magic Shell to reset the stack of Unravel in the intermission.
For more information, please refer to our Nymue guide.
Smolderon
Talents
Pure single-target fight with quite a lot of personal and boss movement. Heavy magic damage throughout the encounter provides great opportunity to fuel your Breath! However, heavy movement and boss downtime devalues it. Default builds for both Breath and Obliteration here.
Suggested Talent Build
- Breath: BsPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAkIAIikEJiERISSIkIJRECIRkIJJJJJplAAAAAAAAAAAAA
- Obliteration: BsPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAcgIAIhkEJiERISSIkIJRkAIhkERSSSSKJBAAAAAAAAAAAA
Tips
- Use Anti-Magic Shell to help mitigate the damage and generate Runic Power when targeted by Overheated.
- Try and stay close to the boss with Overheated to help maintain your Breath of Sindragosa.
- Use Anti-Magic Zone for Brand of Damnation to help your raid mitigate the damage and generate Runic Power for your Breath.
- Be careful with using Death's Advance for the knockback in the intermission as you risk spawning the balls too close to the boss. It's better to have some distance to give yourself more time to soak them up.
- For Obliteration, use the first charge of Empower Rune Weapon on pull and then save it for each burst phase.
For more information, please refer to our Smolderon guide.
Tindral Sageswift, Seer of the Flame
Talents
Primarily a Single Target encounter but with some period of heavy add cleave. The fight consists of 90-120 seconds of boss action followed by 20-30 seconds of flying and forced downtime. Breath of Sindragosa works great here since you can maintain 100% uptime during the platform phases. The downtime allows you to load up resources and start a fresh Breath in each new phase. Frostwyrm's Fury will increase your overall damage here significantly due to being able to leverage it on adds. This is not that important for Heroic, but on Mythic we do opt for this talent. We also pick up Absolute Zero to deal even more roots damage. The extra burst it brings on more root sets really helps the raid deal with the mechanic. We also recommend Frostwhelp's Aid for Breath due to the nice value it brings on the adds.
Suggested Talent Build
- Breath: BsPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAkIAIikEJiERISSIkIJRESCCRSSSSSSSaBAAAAAAAAAAAAA
- Obliteration: BsPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAICASkkQiIREikECJSSEJkgcASSEJJJJpkEAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Tips
- Anti-Magic Shell can be used to pre-immune the Mass Entanglement, dodging both the root and the DoT. For Mythic you only do this in a coordinated manner. Breaking out of the roots spawns a treant add that pulses AoE, and you will generally do so together with the rest of your raid! Wraith Walk can also be used to remove the root, but we will generally not pick up this talent.
- Use Anti-Magic Zone during Supernova to mitigate the damage and generate Runic Power for your Breath.
- You can opt to use Anti-Magic Shell after Mass Entanglement is applied to you to mitigate the damage and generate Runic Power for your Breath.
- Use Frostwyrm's Fury on the Mass Entanglement spawns.
For more information, please refer to our Tindral guide.
Fyrakk the Blazing
Talents
Suggested Talent Build
Fyrakk is a three-stage encounter with some cleave opportunity but primarily Single Target focused. We get nice utility from our Death Grip due to adds needing to be grouped up and killed quickly. Unfortunately, there are multiple points in the fight where the boss jumps away, leaving you with nothing to hit. This devalues Breath of Sindragosa since it becomes very difficult to keep up your Breath at these points. We recommend default builds but with Abomination Limb to gain grip utility.
- Breath: BsPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAkIAISSCJiERISSIkIJRECIRkIJJJJJplAAAAAAAAAAAAA
- Obliteration: BsPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAcgIAIRSCJiERISSIkIJRkAIhkERSSSSKJBAAAAAAAAAAAA
Tips
- Dream Rend deals a significant amount of raid damage; use Anti-Magic Zone to help mitigate it and generate Runic Power.
- The boss will jump into the middle of the room as a dragon on two occasions: start of the first intermission and start of phase 3. You can use Death's Advance to avoid the knockback from this!
- Phase 2 will have multiple adds spawning. First two Burning Colossus adds followed by multiple Screaming Soul adds. Use Death and Decay as much as possible whenever the adds are stacked together.
- Use Death Grip (and Abomination Limb if you talent into this) to help group up the Screaming Soul adds! The adds that spawn in the middle of the room are the most important to grip as they can otherwise kill the healing adds that walk through the room.
- Apocalypse Roar knockback can be immuned with Death's Advance.
