Which Artifact Path to Pick as Mistweaver Monk?
The flagship mechanic of Legion Remix is the Artifact Weapon your character will obtain. This weapon has powers and abilities you will be able to unlock, each tied to one of five trees. Below are a few recommendations for which tree might fit a certain playstyle, but it is also important to remember that experimentation with the new abilities and tools is half the fun of this temporary game-mode!
For Solo or Duo Players: We recommend using either Fel or Storm tree for starters, due to them being more offense based. As Mistweavers, we are already fairly tanky with good self sustain so adding additional damage is usually the way to go. Fel is generally better at single target whereas Storm is a bit better at AoE. While grouped, it is important to keep in mind that Storm and Arcane each receive bonus damage from the Fel Touched debuff that Fel applies, so a variety of Artifact paths can be beneficial when running with a party.
For Group Play: When doing 5-man dungeons, Storm is likely your best option due to the aforementioned AoE benefits it provides, while Fel offers a strong single-target option for raid encounters. If you find that you are in need of extra healing during raid or even dungeons, Holy is the go-to option to increase your healing throughput.
Here's a quick overview of each of the trees:
- Nature: is a support based tree that revolves around
buffing yourself and allies with attack speed and increased resource generation using
the ability
Call of the Forest. The passives in this tree offer a good balance between damage, healing, and survivability.
- Fel: as a tree is focused on dealing damage and
debuffing your enemies to empower your ally's attacks. The active ability
Twisted Crusade summons a Dreadlord that rains fire down on enemies within 8 yards, and also allows for you to recast the ability to sacrifice the Dreadlord for a large AoE damage spike. This tree has no defensive abilities or passives, and is purely DPS focused.
- Arcane: is a DPS oriented tree that also comes
with strong defensive options. The active ability
Naran's Everdisc allows you to throw out an arcane orb that returns to you in an arc. Catching the orb will cause it to bounce up to 2 times, increasing in damage 30% with each bounce. Arcane's passives revolve around being stationary for extended periods of time, which does not synergize well with the high mobility gameplay of Mistweaver Monk.
- Storm: excels at AoE damage, with the active
ability
Tempest Wrath causing you to pulse AoE damage within 8 yards, increased for every enemy hit. The passives encourage high mobility as well as granting haste buffs that scale with how many targets you are fighting.
- Holy: is the "healer" tree with every ability and
passive contributing to an HPS increase. The active ability
Vindicator's Judgment calls down a beam of light that follows your target, damaging enemies and healing allies. It also causes you to become "Lightforged" which empowers the passives in the tree.
