Remix: Legion Guide for Outlaw Rogue
Welcome to our Legion Remix Guide for Outlaw Rogue! Here we will cover everything you need to know about getting the most out of your Outlaw Rogue in the Patch 11.2.5 special feature, Legion: Remix.
This page is entirely dedicated to playing Outlaw Rogue in the new event. If you want to know more about Legion Remix in general, for example how it works and what rewards you can earn, you can check out our dedicated Legion Remix page!
Which Artifact Path to Pick as Outlaw Rogue?
In Legion Remix you will have to pick one of five paths in your Artifact Weapon
to spend your Infinite Power on. These five trees each have their own unique
active ability as well as multiple passives that increase your damage, healing, or
survivability. Below are a few recommendations depending on your playstyle,
but keep in mind that experimentation and playing around with the different themes
and passive is half the fun of this temporary game-mode. Picking your favorite choice
based on theme and visuals is perfectly valid!
For Solo Players: We recommend playing with either the Arcane or Nature tree for starters, due to their kit being a mix of defenses and offenses. You can switch to Storm or Fel for raw DPS when teaming up with other players, or when you can handle the damage enemies deal to you.
For Duo-ing: When partying up with one other player, having a combination
of Fel and either Storm or Arcane works best. The player talenting into the Fel tree will
apply Fel Touched to enemies, while the Arcane and Storm damage deals increased damage
against
Fel Touched enemies, something you cannot benefit from by yourself.
For Group Play: When doing 5-man dungeons, Storm is likely your best option due to its massive AoE potential, while Fel offers great single-target damage boosts for raid encounters.
Here's a quick overview of each of the trees:
- Nature: This tree offers strong damage procs, while the active ability
Call of the Forest shields you, as well as dealing moderate AoE damage to targets in front of you. The passives in the tree provide good damage and survivability, and are particularly powerful when teaming up with other players.
- Fel: This is a purely damage-focused tree, allowing you to summon a Dreadlord with
Twisted Crusade that will summon a Rain of Fire to deal damage in an area. With the capstone you can re-use this ability for a massive amount of AoE burst around the Dreadlord's location.
- Arcane: This tree mixes survivability and DPS, but only if you can stand still
in combat. It's active ability,
Naran's Everdisc, deals massive AoE damage to targets in front of you, and you can benefit from this up to 3 times if you catch the orb as it returns to you.
- Storm: The likely go-to choice for any caster due to the passive ability of
being able to cast while moving, this tree is still quite useful for Outlaw
Rogue. The active ability
Tempest Wrath deals damage in a circle around you, and each target hit will increase the damage further. Perfect for huge pulls that you tank with
Evasion. With more points in the tree this also grants massive amounts of haste.
- Holy: This tree is a bit more healing-oriented, and can be surprisingly
useful in early Heroic World Tier progression due to our lackluster self-healing
and survivability. It's active ability
Vindicator's Judgment will deal massive AoE damage and healing, while its passives will provide regular procs of healing to yourself or party members if you team up with other players
Best Legion Remix Leveling Talents for Outlaw Rogue
Below you will find our recommended leveling build and talent pickup order for your Outlaw Rogue in Legion Remix. Depending on how you choose to level up you will want to make some changes, i.e. if you decide to just do a variety of quests, or want to mostly level in dungeons, so we have listed builds for all activities.
Please keep in mind that this Leveling section is specific to Legion Remix. For our The War Within Leveling Guide for Outlaw Rogue, you can head to the page below.
Best Legion Remix Leveling Build for Outlaw Rogue
Open World and Questing Build
This build assumes you are spending a lot of time questing or just farming regular enemies in open world content.
If you are planning on tackling Heroic World Tier enemies, make sure to make
good use of your CC abilities like Kidney Shot or kiting enemies for a bit
with
Crippling Poison to ensure you stay alive. Killing enemies a bit slower
beats having to run back to your corpse!
You can also opt to talent into Blackjack and use
Blind on enemies
for some additional damage reduction.
Dungeon and Mythic+ Build
This build is intended for dungeons and Mythic+, prioritizing AoE damage over single-target.
Raid and Bossing Build
This build is intended for raid-content or when fighting particularly threatening bosses or rare mobs out in the open world, especially on Heroic World Tier. It focuses entirely on single-target DPS.
Level by Level Rotation
Since Legion Remix is the perfect opportunity to level classes you haven't played before, we wanted to keep things as simple as possible for those learning the spec. Simply use the slider to select your level to learn a little bit more about how and when to use the abilities you just unlocked.
Move the slider below to make the guide update to your level!
When using our slider, note that some talents may appear sooner than you expect them to in the rotation. This is due to the differences in the recommended builds above, each taking talents at slightly different times, and sometimes entirely different talents.
If you play with War Mode on, we recommend
Enduring Brawler,
Boarding Party and
Take Your Cut as your War Mode talents.
As you level up, some of your abilities will be replaced with spec-specific
ones, i.e., at Level 22, Eviscerate will be replaced with
Dispatch.
At other times, new abilities will join your rotational priority list. Some of
these you will learn automatically as you level, others you will talent into.
Leveling Rotation as an Outlaw Rogue
Starting at Level 1, you only have one main attack
ability: Sinister Strike.
- Cast
Eviscerate once you have 4+ Combo Points to spend them.
- Use
Sinister Strike to build up Combo Points.
- Cast
Ambush when you can open from
Stealth, or whenever the ability to cast it is granted to you in some other way.
- Use
Adrenaline Rush on cooldown. Ideally, you want to try and pull multiple enemies when it is up so that you do not waste its uptime on running between enemies.
- When fighting more than one enemy, use
Blade Flurry. Try to always hit the highest health target with your abilities while it is active.
- Cast
Roll the Bones whenever it is off cooldown.
- Cast
Slice and Dice to spend your Combo Points and maintain the buff.
- Use
Between the Eyes on cooldown with 4+ Combo Points.
- Cast
Eviscerate to spend excess Combo Points.
- Cast
Dispatch to spend excess Combo Points.
- Cast
Pistol Shot when you get an
Opportunity proc unless it will cause you to overcap Combo Points.
- Cast
Sinister Strike unless you have 4+ Combo Points.
Outlaw Rogue Defensive Abilities while Leveling
Outlaw Rogues have a few tools at their disposal that make fighting multiple enemies easier or that allow you to avoid debilitating effects.
Kick allows you to interrupt an enemy that is casting a spell. Use this frequently to avoid the damage you would otherwise be taking if the spell cast finishes.
Crimson Vial lets you heal 20% of your max Health over 4 seconds. Use this whenever you need the healing or when you are between pulls.
Sap lets you control any Humanoid, Beast, Demon, or Dragon for up to 60 seconds. Use this to keep a single enemy from joining the fight before you open on a group of enemies from stealth. This crowd control breaks when the enemy takes damage. Try to avoid hitting it with any of your abilities that hit multiple targets, or it will join the fight.
Kidney Shot can be used to stun a single opponent for up to 6 seconds. Use this to interrupt a dangerous cast or simply not take damage from an enemy. Some NPCs might be immune to stuns.
Evasion increases your chance to dodge incoming melee and ranged attacks by 100% for 10 seconds. Use this whenever it is available to you while you are fighting multiple enemies. You can only dodge enemy attacks when facing them.
Grappling Hook is a very powerful movement ability. This can sometimes allow you to traverse to a higher elevation or can be used to completely negate fall damage, saving you valuable time while leveling.
Vanish removes you from sight. This essentially resets all enemies you are in combat with. If you happen to be close to death and you do not feel that using any other defensive or offensive ability might let you finish off all the enemies you are engaged with, use Vanish to survive.
Blind allows you to control an enemy for up to 60 seconds. This can be used from stealth or outside of it. The crowd-control effect breaks when the target takes damage, so make sure not to hit it with any of your AoE abilities or use Blind when the enemy is afflicted with one of your damage over time effects.
Cloak of Shadows removes and makes you immune to magical effects for 5 seconds. This allows you to potentially remove damage over time effects that could break your
Stealth, allow you to take less damage, or simply avoid certain crowd control or damaging effects.
Outlaw Rogue War Mode Talents for Leveling
In this section, we will rank the PvP talents best for leveling and doing solo / small group PvE content. Below is a ranking of both General PvP Talents and Outlaw Rogue-specific PvE talents.
Outlaw Rogue PvP Talents for Leveling
Take Your Cut causes you and allies within 8 yards to gain 15% Haste for 8 seconds after you use
Roll the Bones. It is fairly good since it acts as a mini-
Adrenaline Rush and has decent uptime when you are questing in the open-world.
Boarding Party makes
Between the Eyes increase the movement speed of all friendly players within 10 yards by 30% for 5 seconds. Movement speed is always nice while leveling, so this is highly recommended.
Enduring Brawler increases the chance of your
Sinister Strike to strike an additional time by 1% for every 3 seconds that you are in combat. This stacks up to 15 times, and you lose 1 stack for each second you spend out of combat. This is a great pick if you plan on staying in combat for a long time, or have minimal downtime between engaging with enemies.
Control is King allows your
Cheap Shot to grant
Slice and Dice and
Kidney Shot will restore Energy when used. Both of these enable you to use these abilities instead of
Ambush or
Envenom if need be, while still providing DPS benefits. If you have more regular downtimes so, that
Enduring Brawler is not worth playing; this is the best third choice.
