Simming yourself is an incredibly useful and powerful tool that you can use to make informed decisions on what gems to socket, what gear to prioritize, or even what dungeons to run for the best chance at an upgrade. The best resource for this is the Raidbots website which hosts several great and easy to use simulation options.

It can be difficult to sim yourself for specific encounters and Dungeons. The best way to approach real applications of these Raid bosses or Dungeons is to sim for target count and duration under the Patchwerk setting first. Depending on the situation you are trying to simulate, you can also toggle raid buffs and Bloodlust. This will get you a good starting point for what are theoretically the best items and stats which you can then adjust with minimal loss and even potential gain depending on your experience doing that content.
