Restoration Druid Overview

Restoration Druids specialize in doing strong bursts of healing after using cooldowns in raids. Restoration Druids also do well when healing a small number of targets for a prolonged period (for example, in dungeons).

To properly play a healing role, you will need more than just class-specific information. To better understand healing in general, we recommend that you read our healing guide.

Restoration Druid is a solid pick for raids but our position in the raid meta tends to vary a lot from season to season - usually based on how strong the other Druid specs are since Mark of the Wild Icon Mark of the Wild is an essential raid buff. From a healing perspective we are very versatile, and have a great combination of sustained healing and burst.

You will generally play as a "ramp" based healer which means you'll cast a lot of Rejuvenation Icon Rejuvenation in the lead-up to dangerous damage and then send powerful Healing cooldowns like Flourish Icon Flourish to extend them and buy time to cast Regrowth Icon Regrowth which due to Abundance Icon Abundance will be rapid-fire and cost you no mana! The only downside to Restoration Druid is there has often been a healer that brings a lot more raw throughput the last few raid tiers (usually Preservation Evoker).

Patch 11.2.7 Changes to Restoration Druid

Patch 11.2.7 brings no class changes for Restoration Druid and basically none across the board. Instead it's a content-focused patch that adds lots of new events. Check them out below:

  • Housing Early Access Begins!
Housing, Midnights big feature, begins its rollout! This will give you time to acquire furniture and decor before the expansion launches. Icy Veins has a Housing Guide if you're interested in getting started.
  • New Retuning Character Experience!
If you're a retuning player it's easy to feel lost as to what you were doing before taking a break. The new 'returning player' experience sends you to Arathi Highlands to get reacquainted. Exiles Reach, the new player zone, has also been revamped. You might like to read through the Restoration Leveling page to familiarize yourself with the modern version of the spec.
  • Brawler's Guild Returns!
The Brawlers Guild is a series of solo PVE challenges that you can complete for achievements, housing decor, and more. You can find the Brawler's Guild in Stormwind and Orgrimmer. If you're up to the challenge, check out our Brawler's Guild Guide.

In addition to these new features, Legion Remix (introduced in Patch 11.2.5) remains available throughout Patch 11.2.7, and you can use our Restoration Druid Legion Remix page if you'd like to give it a try. We also still have our Puzzling Cartel Chip Icon Puzzling Cartel Chip recommendations up to date on our Gear page to help you finish your Season 3 best-in-slot set.

As Midnight draws close, you might want to check out the Midnight Restoration Druid Preview to see what is in store for the spec.

Restoration Druid Changes in Patch 11.2.5

11.2.5 has no Restoration Druid specific changes, but added Turbo Boost, which adds an extra two levels to Hero and Myth track items. This will allow us to upgrade each of those items by 6 items levels. It also lets you buy up to three special effect items from the raid or dungeon pool with Puzzling Cartel Chip Icon Puzzling Cartel Chips.

Alongside Turbo Boost, this patch also brings Legion Remix. Check out our dedicated pages to learn more:

Restoration Druid Changes in Patch 11.2

  • Lycara's Meditation replaced with Lycara's Inspiration Icon Lycara's Inspiration. This new talent is pretty useless for Restoration Druids.
  • Wildstalker's Symbiotic Bloom Icon Symbiotic Bloom and Bursting Growth Icon Bursting Growth healing increased by ~50%.
  • Symbiotic Bloom Icon Symbiotic Bloom base chance to proc increased by 30%. Rate at which this increases with larger target counts slightly reduced.
  • Twin Sprouts Icon Twin Sprouts chance to generate an additional Bloodseeker Vine or Symbiotic Bloom increased to 30% (was 20%).
  • Implant Icon Implant also triggers from casts of Wild Growth Icon Wild Growth.
  • Tranquility Icon Tranquility initial healing increased by 100%, but its healing now reduces more rapidly beyond 5 targets. Healing over time increased by 200%, but its healing now reduces beyond 5 targets.

These changes represent massive Wildstalker buffs. Paired with the new tier bonuses Druid Wildstalker 11.2 Class Set 2pc Icon Druid Wildstalker 11.2 Class Set 2pc and Druid Wildstalker 11.2 Class Set 4pc Icon Druid Wildstalker 11.2 Class Set 4pc, Keeper of the Grove becomes worthless in Mythic+ since its healing is significantly worse.

Leveling and Getting Started as a Restoration Druid

Leveling as a Restoration Druid is only optimal if you plan on doing it in dungeons or don't mind a very slow pace. Refer to our leveling guide:

Restoration Druid is all about using your abilities strategically. Rather than a fixed rotation, you will be using your flexible spell kit to adapt and overcome whatever the game throws at you.

Two abilities require constant maintenance throughout the combat: Efflorescence Icon Efflorescence and Lifebloom Icon Lifebloom. Wild Growth Icon Wild Growth has a relatively low cooldown, high Mana efficiency, and high group-wide healing. Using these 3 spells often is one of the basic things to learn as a Restoration Druid. Rejuvenation Icon Rejuvenation will be used as a filler spell for as much as your Mana will allow, but preferably concentrated around heavy group damage and coupled with your cooldowns such as Incarnation: Tree of Life Icon Incarnation: Tree of Life, Innervate Icon Innervate, Flourish Icon Flourish. After damage hits you will use Regrowth Icon Regrowth to heal anyone still injured.

If you are an absolute beginner to the spec but would like to learn the fundamentals of the class, I recommend looking through the Spell Summary first, as well as the Easy Mode page linked below.

If you are familiar with Restoration Druid already, go to the Talents and Rotation pages for more detailed information.

How to Gear Up a Restoration Druid

Gearing can get complicated as a healer due to many variables and multiple available group sizes. You can find information on how best to gear a Restoration Druid on the gearing page, which includes Best in Slot and Puzzling Cartel Chip Icon Puzzling Cartel Chip recommendations for this tier.

After acquiring gear, you will want to ensure you have the best consumables, gems, and enchants. You can also find more information about the role of each stat for a Restoration Druid, which one you should be stacking and why.
