Introduction for Affliction Warlock Boss Advice

In this section you will find information pertaining to each boss individually. It is recommended you follow the standard talent build found in the Builds, Talents, and Glyphs section of the guide unless otherwise advised on a per boss basis. Much of the information is geared towards Mythic encounters, though it can be applied equally to the lesser difficulties.

Norgannon's Prowess Icon Norgannon's Prowess should be substituted for Aman'Thul's Vision Icon Aman'Thul's Vision if you have not obtained it yet.

1. Affliction Warlock Boss Advice: Antorus, the Burning Throne

1.1. Garothi Worldbreaker

A Demonic Gateway Icon Demonic Gateway should be placed from the foot of the boss to as far back into the room as possible, allowing the group to quickly and easily escape for Eradication Icon Eradication (and Luring Destruction Icon Luring Destruction on Mythic). Your personal Demonic Circle Icon Demonic Circle should be placed in the back-center of the room on Heroic and below; each time you are targeted with Decimation Icon Decimation simply run out and portal back after dropping off the debuff. If using Soul Harvest Icon Soul Harvest, save the last one for when the boss is below 10% health.

On Mythic you should place your Demonic Circle Icon Demonic Circle on one of the two Decimation Icon Decimation stack points instead, allowing for instant travel between them every other cast of Decimation. Be sure to save your Unending Resolve Icon Unending Resolve for soaking Annihilation Icon Annihilation.

1.1.1. Talents, Trinkets, and Legendaries

Trinket Choice: Aman'Thul's Vision Icon Aman'Thul's Vision & Acrid Catalyst Injector Icon Acrid Catalyst Injector.

Legendary Choice: Hood of Eternal Disdain Icon Hood of Eternal Disdain & Soul of the Netherlord Icon Soul of the Netherlord.

Talent Choice:

1.2. Felhounds of Sargeras

Pay careful attention to your DoT uptimes; the key to success on this encounter is ensuring Agony Icon Agony and Siphon Life Icon Siphon Life never drop. Use your Demonic Circle Icon Demonic Circle to quickly move away from the Consuming Sphere Icon Consuming Sphere when it appears, as you do not want to spend your time running constantly. Alternatively, your circle can be used to avoid Enflame Corruption Icon Enflame Corruption on Heroic+.

On Mythic, much of the fight will depend on what debuff you are afflicted with. The Shadowtouched Icon Shadowtouched side is typically much easier to deal with, as you can easily stay in range of both bosses and do not need to stack with other players at all times. If you are Flametouched Icon Flametouched, you will want to refresh your DoTs before major mechanical timings, as Shatug will often be out of range.

1.2.1. Talents, Trinkets, and Legendaries

Trinket Choice: Aman'Thul's Vision Icon Aman'Thul's Vision & Unstable Arcanocrystal Icon Unstable Arcanocrystal OR Acrid Catalyst Injector Icon Acrid Catalyst Injector.

Legendary Choice: Hood of Eternal Disdain Icon Hood of Eternal Disdain & Sacrolash's Dark Strike Icon Sacrolash's Dark Strike.

Talent Choice:

1.3. Antoran High Command

This can be a very hectic fight for maximizing DPS, as different raid groups and compositions will have varying levels of add damage. Place your Demonic Circle Icon Demonic Circle near the Chief Engineer Ishkar spawn, and a Demonic Gateway Icon Demonic Gateway between the Ishkar and General Erodus spawns. This allows for instant travel each time a boss change occurs until the second rotation of Admiral Svirax.

The number one priority for maximizing damage is to keep your Agony Icon Agony applied to the active boss at all times and ensure you never cap your Soul Shards. You should apply Agony Icon Agony and Corruption Icon Corruption to the adds that spawn if they will live for at least 5-6 seconds. If you have good timing, you can use your Seed of Corruption Icon Seed of Corruption to instantly apply Corruption to all three adds. As a general rule of thumb, we like to apply Agony Icon Agony to the Felblade Shocktroopers after Seed applies Corruption to all three, as the Fanatical Pyromancers typically die immediately. Ensure you are using Drain Soul Icon Drain Soul to steal as many Soul Shards as possible without capping your Soul Shards.

For Mythic difficulty, you can also use the Screaming Shrikes for additional Soul Shard generation, if necessary. You should ignore them other than for quick Shards, however, as they die very quickly and are never worth applying DoTs to.

1.3.1. Talents, Trinkets, and Legendaries

Trinket Choice: Aman'Thul's Vision Icon Aman'Thul's Vision & Acrid Catalyst Injector Icon Acrid Catalyst Injector.

Legendary Choice: Hood of Eternal Disdain Icon Hood of Eternal Disdain & Sacrolash's Dark Strike Icon Sacrolash's Dark Strike.

Talent Choice:

1.4. Eonar the Life-Binder

Howl of Terror Icon Howl of Terror is used for this encounter as it can trigger the Sephuz's Secret Icon Sephuz's Secret proc. You should try to start each wave with at least 3 Soul Shards. Applying your Seed of Corruption Icon Seed of Corruption immediately, cast Howl of Terror Icon Howl of Terror to proc your Sephuz, and then spam your Seeds until you are dry on Soul Shards. You should apply Agony Icon Agony to the large adds for some stable Soul Shard generation as well as Drain Soul Icon Drain Souling the smaller adds as they die to refill. Apply DoTs to a few bats as they fly by for snares and additional Soul Shard generation and damage. Be sure to use the Infernal rather than the Doomguard; ensure Seethe and Burning Presence are toggled off auto-cast.

1.4.1. Talents, Trinkets, and Legendaries

Trinket Choice: Aman'Thul's Vision Icon Aman'Thul's Vision & Acrid Catalyst Injector Icon Acrid Catalyst Injector.

Legendary Choice: Sephuz's Secret Icon Sephuz's Secret & Sacrolash's Dark Strike Icon Sacrolash's Dark Strike.

Talent Choice:

1.5. Portal Keeper Hasabel

Place your Demonic Circle Icon Demonic Circle near one of the edges of the room. Once you have done the encounter a few times, you will get a feel for the most common Felstorm Barrage Icon Felstorm Barrage spawns are; you want to place your portal in a spot that is largely unaffected. You can also use your portal to quickly escape any unexpected Collapsing World Icon Collapsing World spawns. Use the adds that spawn as Soul Shard fuel to constantly keep Icon Reap Souls active while spamming Unstable Affliction Icon Unstable Affliction on the boss. If you are using Sephuz's Secret Icon Sephuz's Secret, you can proc it by interrupting an Imp with your Doomguard or using Howl of Terror Icon Howl of Terror. Use Phantom Singularity Icon Phantom Singularity immediately on the pull and on every Transport Portal Icon Transport Portal thereafter.

Warlocks should not be assigned to portal groups, however, if you find yourself on the platforms be sure to switch to a more single target oriented build. Place a Demonic Gateway Icon Demonic Gateway between the red and green or red and purple portals to aid with transportation.

1.5.1. Talents, Trinkets, and Legendaries

Trinket Choice: Aman'Thul's Vision Icon Aman'Thul's Vision & Acrid Catalyst Injector Icon Acrid Catalyst Injector.

Legendary Choice: Sephuz's Secret Icon Sephuz's Secret & Sacrolash's Dark Strike Icon Sacrolash's Dark Strike.

Talent Choice:

1.6. Imonar the Soulhunter

There is little fight specific optimization for this encounter. Place a Demonic Circle Icon Demonic Circle as close to the bridge as possible before the encounter, allowing you to quickly skip the final portion of the intermission on the return trip across the bridge. On lower difficulties, the Demonic Gateway Icon Demonic Gateway may be used to quickly traverse the bridge, however do not place one unless asked.

Prydaz, Xavaric's Magnum Opus Icon Prydaz, Xavaric's Magnum Opus makes a great choice for this fight as it is a competitive damage option with great defensive potential for the intermissions.

1.6.1. Talents, Trinkets, and Legendaries

Trinket Choice: Aman'Thul's Vision Icon Aman'Thul's Vision & Acrid Catalyst Injector Icon Acrid Catalyst Injector.

Legendary Choice: Hood of Eternal Disdain Icon Hood of Eternal Disdain & Prydaz, Xavaric's Magnum Opus Icon Prydaz, Xavaric's Magnum Opus.

Talent Choice:

1.7. Kin'garoth

Place your Demonic Gateway Icon Demonic Gateway between two of the construction bays, allowing players to quickly multi-DoT or assist their allies during the down phase. Your Demonic Circle Icon Demonic Circle can be placed to your preference, but be sure to use it to avoid Ruiner Icon Ruiner casts to reduce movement. Save your first Soul Harvest Icon Soul Harvest for the down phase, as the adds take bonus damage and have precedence over Kin'garoth himself. Adjust your camera to an angle where you can easily see Diabolic Bomb Icon Diabolic Bombs coming far in advance. Try and reduce movement to a minimum in order to maximize damage output in the up phase. Do not bother moving at all in the Down Phase; your Drain Soul Icon Drain Soul will outheal any damage you take.

On Mythic difficulty, you should save every Soul Harvest Icon Soul Harvest for the Down Phase, as the constructs are the most important part of the fight, and you can always get an extension on your Harvest.

1.7.1. Talents, Trinkets, and Legendaries

Trinket Choice: Aman'Thul's Vision Icon Aman'Thul's Vision & Acrid Catalyst Injector Icon Acrid Catalyst Injector.

Legendary Choice: Hood of Eternal Disdain Icon Hood of Eternal Disdain & Prydaz, Xavaric's Magnum Opus Icon Prydaz, Xavaric's Magnum Opus.

Talent Choice:

1.8. Varimathras

Place your Demonic Circle Icon Demonic Circle on one of the two stack points to reduce movement. On Mythic difficulty, Drain Soul Icon Drain Soul the adds for Soul Shards, but do not bother applying any DoTs to them. Try and line up your burst windows so that they are independent of add spawns, while using the adds in between to supplement and replenish your resources.

1.8.1. Talents, Trinkets, and Legendaries

Trinket Choice: Aman'Thul's Vision Icon Aman'Thul's Vision & Acrid Catalyst Injector Icon Acrid Catalyst Injector.

Legendary Choice: Hood of Eternal Disdain Icon Hood of Eternal Disdain & Soul of the Netherlord Icon Soul of the Netherlord.

Talent Choice:

1.9. The Coven of Shivarra

Place your Demonic Circle Icon Demonic Circle near the "corners" of the room, but slightly off center so you are not in the path of a flamethrower spawn. Keep your Agony Icon Agony rolling on both active bosses at all times, and be sure to refresh before every Storm of Darkness Icon Storm of Darkness in case of range issues. You should also be sure to refresh before each Torment of the Titans adds so that you can freely DoT the new spawns without fear of dropping Agony stacks. Even though the Spectral Army does not take damage, it is worth applying Agony to up to 5 of them for a maximum duration Soul Harvest Icon Soul Harvest.

1.9.1. Talents, Trinkets, and Legendaries

Trinket Choice: Aman'Thul's Vision Icon Aman'Thul's Vision & Unstable Arcanocrystal Icon Unstable Arcanocrystal OR Acrid Catalyst Injector Icon Acrid Catalyst Injector.

Legendary Choice: Hood of Eternal Disdain Icon Hood of Eternal Disdain & Sacrolash's Dark Strike Icon Sacrolash's Dark Strike.

Talent Choice:

1.10. Aggramar

Place your Demonic Circle Icon Demonic Circle at your origin point where you begin the encounter. You should "claim" this spot and always return here; do not move unless you absolutely have to. You can portal back if you are forced away by a mechanic, or by the knockback from a Flame Rend Icon Flame Rend. During the transition, you should DoT both Flame of Taeshalach adds. On Heroic and lower difficulties, you can use Sephuz's Secret Icon Sephuz's Secret and Banish Icon Banish the small Embers to proc it. Use your instant casts, such as DoT refreshes and Life Tap Icon Life Tap, whenever movement is necessitated.

On Mythic difficulty, you want to further optimize and reduce movement. Place your Demonic Gateway Icon Demonic Gateway from your personal portal into melee. We like to gateway into each Empowered Flame Rend Icon Empowered Flame Rend soak and instantly portal back from the knock, reducing movement to only a single global cooldown.

1.10.1. Talents, Trinkets, and Legendaries

Trinket Choice: Aman'Thul's Vision Icon Aman'Thul's Vision & Acrid Catalyst Injector Icon Acrid Catalyst Injector.

Legendary Choice: Hood of Eternal Disdain Icon Hood of Eternal Disdain & Prydaz, Xavaric's Magnum Opus Icon Prydaz, Xavaric's Magnum Opus (Mass Crowd-Control Embers) OR Sacrolash's Dark Strike Icon Sacrolash's Dark Strike.

Talent Choice:

1.11. Argus the Unmaker

Place your Demonic Circle Icon Demonic Circle at the Phase Two stack point. Place your Demonic Gateway Icon Demonic Gateway from the Phase Two Argus tank area to the Soulbomb Icon Soulbomb drop point to aid with tank movement. Generally, the Strength of the Sky Icon Strength of the Sky buff is preferable, but either buff is good for Affliction. Try to fit as many instant casts into movement as possible, particularly in the first phase.

Be sure to use your Potion of Prolonged Power Icon Potion of Prolonged Power before the end of the third phase. The best time to use it is either on the Constellar Designates, when you have increased damage, or at the start of Phase Two when you still have the Strength of the Sky Icon Strength of the Sky buff. Always ensure you are hitting the Shadow damage add in Phase Three, although you should put out a few Agony Icon Agony debuffs for reliable Soul Shard generation.

Once you are revived in the final phase, save your last set of cooldowns and your final Potion of Prolonged Power Icon Potion of Prolonged Power for when the boss is under 20% health. Try to hold your Soul Harvest Icon Soul Harvest as late as possible for maximum damage, combining it with Titanforging Icon Titanforging when applicable. You can use the Reorigination Modules to extend your Soul Harvest Icon Soul Harvest.
