Shadow Priest DPS Sanctum of Domination Raid Guide — Dragonflight 10.2.5
On this page, you will find tips, tricks, and strategies tailored to your Shadow Priest for each boss of the following raid: Sanctum of Domination. All our content is updated for World of Warcraft — Dragonflight 10.2.5.
Introduction
During the Dragonflight Pre-Patch, Castle Nathria, Sanctum of Domination, and Sepulcher of the First Ones will be simultaneously featured as Fated Raids. During this time encounters within each specific raid will include an additional mechanic and items will drop at increased item levels. If you would like to learn more general information about the Fated Raids system as a whole, please see our overview below. Otherwise, continue to use this page for specialization-specific tips.
On this page, you will find Shadow Priest specific information to deal with each boss in the Sanctum of Domination raid. These are not complete encounter guides, but rather provide specific tips for doing the bosses as a Shadow Priest.
This page assumes that you already understand most of the mechanics of each encounter. These can be found on the full raid guide, so what is contained here are details specifically tailored toward Shadow Priest and what you can do to deal with each fight as best as possible.
All recommendations are progression based tips and will not necessarily be the best for an overall DPS ranking.
You can easily import the talent tree below into the game with the following string:
- BIQAu+2Vv7op3uGggQnVDr07wIItAAAAAAAAAAAAAAikoEhU0iEJlESAakEJSkABJSRahkAA
Note: The build above uses Talbadar's Stratagem as your legendary. Should you wish to use Shadowflame Prism you can use the below build, just note that it is about 3% DPS behind on single target.

The Tarragrue
We advise you to use the following Legendary against The Tarragrue: Talbadar's Stratagem.
This boss is quite unique, as it gives you several Anima Powers throughout the encounter from Torghast. These do not include powers that are class-specific. Check out the below list of powers expected to be strong for this encounter as a Shadow Priest. As more people do the fight on live servers this list will be updated.
Consider using Intangibility to help you soak mechanics more often. Keep in mind by taking this you lose Body and Soul which might be helpful for the bosses Hungering Mist mechanic if you do not have Soulshape or Door of Shadows.
Anima Powers to look for from a DPS perspective:
- Elethium Weights
- Lumbering Form
- Obleron Talisman
- Obleron Winds
- Potent Acid Gland
- Soulward Clasp
- Tremorbeast Heart
- V'lara's Cape of Subterfuge
- Huddled Carvings
- Stand next to a player with Twisted Samophlange
For more information, please refer to our The Tarragrue guide.
The Eye of the Jailer
We advise you to use the following Legendary against The Eye of the Jailer: Talbadar's Stratagem.
Note: you can use Soulshape to get through the beam, but this can be tricky to time and could mean certain death should you fail.
You can use Dispersion to quickly move out and mitigate damage from Spreading Misery, also allowing you to stack this pool on top of an existing one without losing much health.
For more information, please refer to our The Eye of the Jailer guide.
The Nine
We advise you to use the following Legendary against The Nine: Talbadar's Stratagem.
For more information, please refer to our The Nine guide.
Remnant of Ner'zhul
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Remnant of Ner'zhul: Talbadar's Stratagem.
If the orbs live long enough keeping Vampiric Touch active can even help with better priority target damage with Auspicious Spirits.
With good timing, you can mitigate the knockback effects on this fight with good uses of Soulshape or Fleshcraft with Ultimate Form.
For more information, please refer to our Remnant of Ner'zhul guide.
Soulrender Dormazain
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Soulrender Dormazain: Talbadar's Stratagem.
Psychic Horror will be a good pickup to have a stun and Silence for the add waves.
Save your Soulshape for moments when you might be caught out of position for Torment mechanics, rely on group movement CDs as much as possible to save this for when you really need it.
For more information, please refer to our Soulrender Dormazain guide.
Painsmith Raznal
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Painsmith Raznal: Talbadar's Stratagem.
For the most part this is a pure single-target fight, and you should optimize around that. Based on your group's damage, you will likely use all your CDs together for the first Phase 1 on opener and the next Phase 1 after the first intermission. You likely will not be able to fit more than one use of these cooldowns inside these Phase 1s, but pending fight time and Night Fae should squeeze in an extra one right at the end of the fight. Going Night Fae might still be a DPS loss compared so you will need to experiment if you want to try this.
Note: you can use Soulshape or Door of Shadows to dodge many of the mechanics in this encounter, but I prefer to hold things like Soulshape for bad line ups of certain mechanics or during intermission phases.
For more information, please refer to our Painsmith Raznal guide.
Guardian of the First Ones
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Guardian of the First Ones: Talbadar's Stratagem.
This fight is generally a standard single-target fight as a ranged DPS. Just plan for your movement ahead of time and enjoy the Patchwerk boss.
Fatescribe Roh-Kalo
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Fatescribe Roh-Kalo: Talbadar's Stratagem.
Be sure to swap to the add that spawns after Invoke Destiny. Depending on your raid group, this might die too fast to actually DoT the add. Rather, just nuke it with anything else you have at the time. This is a great target for Twist of Fate procs during these phases.
For more information, please refer to our Fatescribe Roh-Kalo guide.
Kel'Thuzad
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Kel'Thuzad: Talbadar's Stratagem.
Typically you will remain in the upstairs phase for this fight as it naturally caters to our damage kit as we can easily damage all the adds in that realm and prioritize damage if need be.
For more information, please refer to our Kel'Thuzad guide.
Sylvanas Windrunner
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Sylvanas Windrunner: Talbadar's Stratagem.
In Phase 2, you can dot as many adds as possible, but be sure to dump your Devouring Plague into the high-priority adds or bank Insanity for when the boss comes back into being vulnerable.
For more information, please refer to our Sylvanas Windrunner guide.
