On this page, you will find tips, tricks, and strategies tailored to your Devastation Evoker for each boss of the following raid: Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible. All our content is updated for World of Warcraft — Season 4.

On this page, you will find Devastation Evoker specific information to deal with each boss in the Aberrus raid. These are not complete encounter guides but rather provide specific tips for doing the bosses as a Devastation Evoker.

This page assumes that you already understand most of the mechanics of each encounter. These can be found on the full raid guide, so what is contained here are details specifically tailored toward Devastation Evoker and what you can do to deal with each fight as best as possible.

Kazzara, the Hellforged

3.1.

Talents/Build

Tips

  • You can opt into using Zephyr Icon Zephyr as a personal cooldown for the Hellsteel Carnage Icon Hellsteel Carnage casts at 80%, 60%, 40%. Otherwise, use Obsidian Scales Icon Obsidian Scales, Renewing Blaze Icon Renewing Blaze for these.
  • Be ready to move away from Hellbeam Icon Hellbeam if it is cast in your direction.
  • Have Hover Icon Hover active for the Wings of Extinction Icon Wings of Extinction knockbacks to carry on casting.
  • If you are targeted by Rays of Anguish Icon Rays of Anguish, Hover Icon Hover to a Dread Rifts Icon Dread Rifts to carry on DPSing whilst handling the mechanic correctly.

The Amalgamation Chamber

4.1.

Talents/Build

For this boss there are two talent builds i recommend depending on the strategy your guild is using.

4.2.

Tips

  • When you have high stacks of Corrupting Shadow Icon Corrupting Shadow (Shadow: P1), Blazing Heat (Fire: P1), or Shadowflame Contamination Icon Shadowflame Contamination (P2) start to use defensives.
  • Be ready to Hover Icon Hover if you are targeted by Umbral Detonation Icon Umbral Detonation (Shadow: P1) or Blistering Twilight Icon Blistering Twilight (P2) to place the pools away from the raid.
  • If you are on the Fire side in Phase 1, try not to stand in the middle of the room as you may bait Swirling Flame Icon Swirling Flame to the Shadow group.

The Forgotten Experiments

5.1.

Tips

  • Cauterizing Flame Icon Cauterizing Flame can remove the Rending Charge Icon Rending Charge debuff.
  • Use Hover Icon Hover to escape the cone from Massive Slam Icon Massive Slam and the lines from Deep Breath Icon Deep Breath.
  • As Phase 2 goes on, more and more Erratic Remnant adds will spawn. These are a high priority add to kill. Be ready to swap to them instantly to make the most of your Mastery. Later in the fight, when there are multiple up at a time be ready to take advantage of Deep Breath Icon Deep Breath to finish them off.
  • Use personals and Zephyr Icon Zephyr for Violent Eruption Icon Violent Eruption and Disintegrate Icon Disintegrate.

6.

Assault of the Zaqali

6.1.

6.2.

Tips

  • Magma Mystics are the highest priority add to kill, and they have a gigantic absorb shield. Take advantage of Unravel Icon Unravel here. These adds also have the benefit of being at near full health whilst their shield is active, making our Mastery is much more powerful. Hold damage for these if you know one is about to spawn.
  • This fight has a lot of cleave but also a lot of priority damage. Decide on what your raid needs more to dictate the build you go for.
  • Your raid may need you to swap sides during the fight to help break the Magma Mystic Shields, if this is the case, you can alternate between using a Gateway and Deep Breath Icon Deep Breath to move from side to side.

7.

Rashok, the Elder

7.1.

Tips

  • Be ready to soak Doom Flames Icon Doom Flames. Take advantage of Hover Icon Hover to get ones that are a little out of reach for most players.
  • Avoid the Shadowlava Blast Icon Shadowlava Blast. This will happen after the third Searing Slam Icon Searing Slam of each Phase 1 cycle.
  • There is a lot of periodic damage on this encounter, be sure to take advantage of this by using Verdant Embrace Icon Verdant Embrace on yourself for more DPS.
  • Use Obsidian Scales Icon Obsidian Scales when soaking Charged Smash Icon Charged Smash.

8.

The Vigilant Steward, Zskarn

8.1.

Tips

  • Hover Icon Hover into melee range of the boss just before Blast Wave Icon Blast Wave is cast to ensure you do not get pushed out of range and can keep DPSing the whole time.
  • If your strategy requires Golems to be CC'd when they spawn Landslide Icon Landslide is great for this.
  • Golems are a priority when they are active. Swap to them early to take advantage of your Mastery.
  • You can stop casts from Golems with Quell Icon Quell, Wing Buffet Icon Wing Buffet and Tail Swipe Icon Tail Swipe.

9.

Magmorax

9.1.

Tips

  • Hover Icon Hover to move out of Blazing Breath Icon Blazing Breath.
  • Overpowering Stomp Icon Overpowering Stomp can be negated with Glide (hitting spacebar once you are in mid-air). If you have any Priests or Paladins, it can be worthwhile to Rescue Icon Rescue them.
  • Use Obsidian Scales Icon Obsidian Scales or Renewing Blaze Icon Renewing Blaze when you need to do any soaking of Magma Puddle Icon Magma Puddle's.
  • There is near-constant ticking damage on this encounter, be sure to use Verdant Embrace Icon Verdant Embrace to gain a slight DPS benefit.

10.

Echo of Neltharion

10.1.

Talents/Build

Tips

  • Phase 1 and 2: Move away with Volcanic Heart Icon Volcanic Heart.
  • Phase 1 and 2: Move towards a wall to break it when you have Rushing Darkness Icon Rushing Darkness. It is important to note that if you jump and glide, it may not break the wall.
  • Heroic. Phase 2: Unravel Icon Unravel will be a huge benefit on the adds if you are marked with Corruption Icon Corruption. Additionally, these adds are at 100% during this time, meaning you get full Mastery benefit from attacking them.
  • Phase 2: Be ready to move to a new location when an add has died.
  • Phase 3: Wait a couple of seconds before using Deep Breath Icon Deep Breath ont he adds as you may get threat and die if you use it too early!
  • Phase 3: When Ebon Destruction Icon Ebon Destruction is cast run into a portal to survive.

11.2.

Tips

  • Phase 1: Use Hover Icon Hover during forced movement from Drifting Embers Icon Drifting Embers to avoid losing dps, have Obsidian Scales Icon Obsidian Scales up when you are soaking Searing Breath Icon Searing Breath or Mass Disintegrate Icon Mass Disintegrate.
  • Phase 2: Same as phase 1 for Hover Icon Hover usage, defensives should be used for the later Infinite Duress Icon Infinite Duress dispels as they are the only dangerous part of the phase. Your target priority in this phase will very commonly be the Mythic-only add.
  • Phase 3: This phase is exclusively single target, you will spend the vast majority of this phase stacked as a raid group as positioning is key, the damage intake early in the phase is very minimal so do not be afraid to hoard your defensives toward the end of the phase when you are resetting stacks of Oblivion Icon Oblivion.
